Refused service
Our hotel recommended Narutomi Soba but unfortunately they turned us away at the door as it’s “members only”.
Be the first to ReplyNegative stars!! Racist against non-Japanese customers!!
Wished I had checked the recent reviews on Trip Advisor before walking my hungry and pregnant belly to this restaurant. We got there before it opened, were second in line with only one couple in front of us, but only we were asked if we were Japanese. We said “No” and said we spoke English. The couple in front of us was very nice and offered to help us translate since they spoke both Japanese and English. But after the waitress consulted with the chef inside, the chef came out and said in English that it was for “members only.” No one else was checked for “membership” except us.
Evidently, the chef thinks that being a LIAR and a RACIST is the way to do business.
NO THANK YOU TO THIS KIND OF B*LLSH*T!!!
Avoid this place if you are not Japanese
Found this place on the Michelin guide. Not sure how anybody who represents the Michelin guidebook got a seat, as they turn away all non Japanese visitors with a ‘members only’ comment. A young Japanese couple in front of us offered to translate for us (thank you awesome couple for offering!) but the owner still refused.
The owner will not serve foreigners and his only method of communicating that is to say ‘members only.’ Clearly the young couple in front of my wife and I were not ‘members’ as they didn’t know of such rules.
I’m fine with an owner wanting to keep his place exclusive, but Michelin guide should remove this restaurant as an option, as I’m not sure how any Michelin guide writer was even able to sample the food at this establishment.
