We heard about the move from downtown El Cajon to Santee and had a coupon so we thought we'd check it out. We used the coupon to buy a large pizza and get a free small (or was it medium) pizza free. We enjoyed that it's a family owned business and getting background on the restaurant. Sounds like the family has done very well and has a few locations. My parents enjoyed the pizza making it their new top pizza location! I was a little more persnickety wanting more flavor in the sauce and even the cheese. For me it was a bit bland but my folks were happy which is more important! I was eyeing the ravioli which we may try next visit. One hesitation is that it's a bit pricy but I understand that portions are large so perhaps we can try splitting. Overall a good experience and definitely one of the better Italian restaurants we've been to lately.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a cross section of my $17 torpedo.
The bread was soft, the meat and cheese were tasty and the lettuce was fresh.
Be the first to ReplyFood is insanely overpriced and the quality is lacking.
Trust the other reviews, this place isn't worth your money. It's sad considering its history, which is why I gave it a shot. It was very disappointing though, food was low quality and soggy by the time it came out.

Ordered for the first time and we all got something different. The chicken parm meal didn't have enough noodles for the chicken portion of it. The alfredo sauce was way too thin and very bland. My husband tossed his lasagna said marinara was very mediocre. The bread was good

Had the Sicilian pepperoni and pesto mac and cheese. Both were amazing. The pepperoni is outstanding. Couple that with great service and this spot is a winner

This was our first time visiting the new location, we loved the Navajo restaurant. Upon arriving I was definitely disappointed that it was no longer a big, homey Italian restaurant feel. The new location is more a sports bar/ fast casual spot, concrete floors, bare walls, lots of large TVs with sports on. I missed the old Italian, family restaurant decor. Their sandwiches are still amazing, we had my 2 standards the meatball and the torpedo. It was a little confusing as the waitress kept asking what I wanted on the Torpedo and I said just how it comes and she told us she didn't remember what meat was on it. She also asked if we wanted cheese on the meatball sub which we thought was standard but we realized at the end we were charged $2 extra for it. Overall food still great, didn't care for the atmosphere, service ok.

Amazing food and service here at Nicolosi's! Jenn and the rest of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rigatoni with pink sauce (add mushroom) was the absolute best!! Definitely huge portions, I got the half order of pasta and still took half home. We've ordered to go before but we decided to dine in and it was a nice family atmosphere. Btw the blush wine was amazing!!!! I will def return to have some more

Can't even express how wonderful the staff was in hosting my mother in laws 70th birthday party!! Everything was phenomenal from the food to the service. Jen was amazing as well as many others. Emails were answered fast and the ease of the day was such a success! Definitely go to just have a delicious dinner or think of them for your next big party!
Be the first to ReplyThere are many things that make up a great restaurant.
Customer Service, Food, Atmosphere, Quality, etc. Sometimes, in very rare cases, you come across a place that excels at everything they do, and Nicolosi's is "that" place. My personal favorite is their Margarita pizza (pro tip: order with "pizza sauce"). I have tasted pizza in Naples, Italy, and am from New England. I feel I know a good pizza when I taste one. BY FAR, this is the best pizza you will find in San Diego. Period. The manager, Chris, takes care of us every time we come in, and the rest of the staff always greets every customer with a smile. Grab the kids, grab a date, bring a few or bring many; it doesn't matter. Just GO. Now. Stop reading this and go. You will thank me later.
Be the first to ReplyI'm so happy to have visited Nicolosi's Italian
I'm so happy to have visited Nicolosi's Italian Restaurant's new home in Santee! In business since 1952, Nicolosi's has been a legendary Italian food institution in San Diego, alonside the likes of Filippi's, Ottavio's and Pernicano's. Over the last 70 years Nicolosi's has continued it's incremental move east. Starting in Mission Hills, then El Cajon Blvd, Grantville, San Carlos and now Santee. I suppose at some point they'll be in Alpine or Descanso. Who knows. Anyway, they've been around for generations and they're steeped in rich history. I just love places like that. The new Santee restaurant is interesting. I believe the former occupant of this space was a Pizza Hut, so it's pretty small. The vibe is very much "sports bar" throughout. Big screen TVs on all the walls, even in the dining room. It feels like an Oggi's. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just don't go expecting romantic or intimate. All the servers and staff were so nice and patient. They do seem to be suffering from staffing challenges like many other businesses. There was only one server on duty at the time we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Had to wait to be seated despite a mostly empty dining room. My experience with the food was a mixed bag. Everything came out in a timely fashion. The dinner salad was outstanding. Liberally dressed with a delicious Italian dressing, just how I like it. Tasty croutons that were somewhat airy. Pasta dishes are served with a warm bread basket and a few small packets of butter. Bread service was very good. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. It came out piping hot which I appreciate. Unfortunately the chicken was quite salty and the spaghetti pasta was overcooked, well past al dente. The marinara was thick, sweet and fairly unremarkable. My son really enjoyed his pesto pasta dish. My wife liked her manicotti, however half the plate consisted of steamed vegetables. Kind of a small portion.
Be the first to ReplyWent there for lunch.
Had a fantastic waiter. Food was really good. The canollis are to die for. They have the regular size or you can buy 3 small ones. So glad they are in Santee. Wish it were a bigger place.

Great new local restaurant! Authentic Italian dishes, great service and perfect for family dinner, happy hour or grabbing a delicious sandwich for lunch. We have dined in twice since the grand opening of their Santee location and had a wonderful experience both times. We will definitely be going back!
Be the first to ReplyA welcome addition to the Santee food scene.
We had garlic bread and caprese salad for appetizers and chicken with pesto pizza for an entree. The food was good. The garlic bread came with homemade marinara that had great flavor (you could taste the tomatoes, and the sweetness was just enough). The Caprese is a straightforward dish and tastes as I would expect. The pizza was delicious. It had an excellent pesto flavor with well-seasoned chicken, and the pine nuts were a fabulous addition. I kept getting these nice bites where one of those charred little guys would enhance the flavor of the pizza. It's a new spot, so don't be surprised if there's a little wait for your food or to be seated. I would wholeheartedly recommend stopping in, and I can't wait to try some of their pasta dishes.

Went here with my family, we had cheesy garlic bread for appetizer, spaghetti, pizza, baked ravioli, and chicken parm. We all loved our food and cleaned our plates. We even had some really great cannoli's for dessert . It was busy but the staff was attentive and we didn't wait too long for our food, but all that wasn't the best part. An hour or so after we got home, my daughter realized that she left her retainers wrapped in a napkin on the table. We thought for sure they were gone. My husband drove back to Nicolosi's to tell them our predicament. Our waitress Victoria put on gloves and picked through the trash until she found the retainers still nicely wrapped in the napkin. THANK YOU Nicolosi's for not only having amazing food, but also staff that goes above and beyond. We will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyMy excitement for Nicolosi's to open in Santee was a big
My excitement for Nicolosi's to open in Santee was a big disappointment today. I have visited the Navajo location and loved the pizza. Today I went at 4:15 and there was only one other table finishing their food. We ordered a salad & pizza. Our server was less than satisfactory having to ask multiple times for ice tea & napkins. It took over an hour for our pizza to finally arrive and it was sadly over cooked. We were never asked how our food was once during our dining experience, I did hear our server ask other tables how their food was. On the way out I spoke to the owner Barbara to tell her about the food & experience & her response was oh you should come earlier when we aren't so busier, she mentioned that our server was her manager and that was about it. I might give it another try but I would think an owner would want to do something more professional or courteous than tell me to come back earlier ? I was there before the restaurant filled up and her manager is not a great server, the pizza was terrible. In fact I told her that Fillipis pizza is 100x better than the pizza I had today & I guess she doesn't care if I go there instead ? Hopefully, this isn't the norm for this restaurant and it is a good place to have in Santee. I guess only time will tell & I am still unsure if I want to spend another $50 on meal that tastes as bad as this did.
Be the first to ReplyNicolosi's just relocated to Santee (in the Food 4 Less
Nicolosi's just relocated to Santee (in the Food 4 Less shopping center on Cuyamaca) and we couldn't be happier. An easy walk from our house! I ordered a pizza for carry-out. A large thin crust with pepperoni, sausage, fresh garlic and jalapenos. It was a fantastic pizza. The crust was flavorful with a great chew. I love the little pepperoni that curl up on the ends and get that char. The sausage was great as was the garlic. We just wish that they offered fresh jalapeno rather than the pickled variety. While I waited for my order, I enjoyed a beer at the bar. A bit pricey for me. A pint of Stone Buenaveza was $10. After tax and tip it closed in on $13. By comparison, a beer at The Lot, the fancy movie theater in Point Loma, is $9.50. Service was pretty good. They just opened and they are extremely busy. Still getting their feet underneath them.Welcome to town Nicolosi's!
Be the first to ReplyWent to new location in Santee.
They have cut way back on cheese and toppings. Seating was jammed together. I will not be back!! $25 for a pizza with hardly any cheese or toppings...no thanks! Just because a person orders a veggie pizza does not mean they do not want lots of toppings.
Be the first to ReplyLunch Menu is confusing be careful when ordering as prices
Lunch Menu is confusing be careful when ordering as prices are high . Meatball sandwiches were just warm and cheese an extra charge . $ 40.00 for a pizza ! Not a good start for this new location in Santee.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant moved from La Mesa to Santee and they don't
This restaurant moved from La Mesa to Santee and they don't even let you know when you call. Went to the old location for pick up and it was closed. We do like their pizza so I drove to new location to get my order. Unfortunately pizza wasn't nearly as good. I feel bad for local businesses that aren't good at business and have so so food. Go elsewhere for Italian!!
Be the first to ReplyWe went to the new location in Santee.
Yes, it was busy because they just opened. We had a long wait. I heard a lot of people say they were slow because it is a new restaurant. It is a new location but an established restaurant. We ordered our food, they brought the bread and it took about an hour for the food to come. I ordered spaghetti and would have liked to have bread with my meal but since the food took so long, the bread was gone and no more was brought out. The food was decent but I wasn't impressed. Probably won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe visited the new location in Santee tonight.
It was very busy and there were a few glitches to work out, as with any newly opened restaurant. What hasn't changed, and what will continue to bring us back, was the service and the staff. We were greeted, as usual, by a smiling Courtney at the front. She always makes us feel welcome. We were fortunate enough to be seated in Suzanne's station. She always goes above and beyond to make sure we have what we need, and that our experience is a pleasant one. Courtney, Suzanne, Chris, and the rest of the weekend wait staff make Nicolosi's one of our favorite go-to spots. As long as they're still there, we will make the trek down to Santee!

Just tried to call for a take out order and no one answers and you can't leave a message. The online ordering is out of service. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for sometime now and tonight seemed to be a good opportunity. Sad we couldn't give this place a shot. We ended up ordering from another Italian restaurant.

This place was great! My fiancee and I went on an impromptu date night and had a lovely dinner. We both left stuffed and with leftovers. Suzanne was our server and she was excellent! She was very personable and made the experience really delightful. This was our first time going there and we were bummed when we were told the location was moving since it's right in our neighborhood. We would definitely go back for another cozy date night.
