A Yank over in the Auld Sod on business, would you expect to see Cajun food? Of course not, but we found ourselves in Oak Alley after a couple of requisite pre-dinner cocktails, and settled in for the dinner. I wouldn't say that I'm an expert in the regional food of New Orleans, but I have been there many times as I have three family members attend university there. I've sampled food in a variety of restaurants and I'm well-versed in the dishes that they serve. As for Oak Alley the ambience was clean, contemporary and appealing. We started off with a round of cocktails, and progressed to the appetizers. We tried the gator, as in alligator, I've had gator before several times both in New Orleans and out. This was an tasty example. I had the jambalaya for dinner which was a solid representation of the dish. We finished off the evening with a couple of whiskeys, and a couple coffees. The waitstaff was ultra attentive polite and responded well to our Russian colleague's requests for vodka with coffee. Overall I'd say this is a excellent restaurant with probably the best representation of Cajun food in Ireland. Will try to come again next time we are in Town. PS. To the owners sorry it took so long to write this review, I had so much fun I forgot the name of the restaurant. Thanks for a great night out!

I really like Oak Alley because the they have a good selection on their menu. It is a cajun/New Orleans inspired restaurant but there is a lot of choice. The sweet potato curry is really good, I never usually get curries out but ordered this on a whim. Jack Daniel Chicken wings are delicious and the calamari is always one of my favourites and I don't believe it is too chewy.Their cocktails are top class, not just some alcohol put into a blender. The Ramon Gin Fizz is a nice one to have after dinner as its fresh and citrusy. YUM! I'd also suggest the Espresso MartiniService is good and all staff are very pleasant.Early bird menu has 3 courses for 23EUR or 2 for 18EUR which is good value considering starters are 7-10EUR and mains 17-30EUR.

Date night and entered into this lovely restaurant with a nice ambience inside. Clean, inviting and friendly service.Food is quite pricey on the a la carte men however the early bird option offered a good selection of starters, mains and desserts. ย I opted for the sweet potato and courgette fritters for starter and cheeseburger for main. I was expecting the fritters to somehow be combined however they were just individual slices of sweet potato and courgette deep fried. They were however extremely tasty and came with a great dipping sauce. The burger was great and was topped with sweet onions, ย cheese and a fantastic bbc sauce. I would have preferred skinny fries to the chunky chips option but they were still good.overall very happy and will definitely go back again

I went to the oak alley yesterday with my hubby must say that it looked nice inside and the staff friendly had the chicken wings for starters and the lamb curry, chicken wings were ment to have a jack danniels sauce it was more bbq than jack danniels, the lamb curry was more like lamb stew and cold.I have to say I was very sick after eating some of this food .I would not recommed it to anyone or be going back to eat there again

I was really excited to try the place out, and ate a three course meal while at the restaurant. However I ended up getting really ill early the next morning. It started with a bout of vomiting which resulted in two visits to my Doctor. I remained sick for six days, which was a huge disappointment as this happened over the Christmas holidays and I ended up sick in bed on Christmas day. My dad contacted the restaurant manager to inform him that I had been sick following eating at the restaurant. The manager was quite pleasant, however I received no follow up afterwards or a refund for my meal. Needless to say I will not make a return visit here next Christmas.
Be the first to ReplyGreat cocktails, lovely staff, if exceedingly over worked.
Cocktail service slow due to lack of staff. Lovely cocktail bar with weird racial undertones. <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.m.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FOak_Alley_Plantation&s=d35eaf2326da8aabf7b7706265d9bbcb8015b7b4ee6d84636dabaa1e54ff9d70" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/โฆ</a>

Reassuringly expensive. It's dear, but has the service, food, decor and music to back it up. We arrived late for cocktails and even though there were no seats up in the cocktail area they allowed us to sit downstairs in the restaurant. There was a live band and the classy waistcoated waiters were very friendly and helpful. There is an extensive cocktail menu and they also take requests. The virgin cocktails are a very reasonable โฌ5.50 and are delicious too.Not one for weekly nights out, but a great place for a fancy night out with pals.

Went to oak alley for first time last night with group of girls. Great vibe about place there was a jazz singer accompanied by a piano player who were really good. ย We are all in a protein non carb diet at moment so we didn't want to deviate from it. We ordered a few starters to share scallops, prawns and southern fried veg all of which were delicious. For our mains we had steak , three types of curry sweet potato, lamb and chicken and I had calamari with salad, all delicious. We loved the vibe very relaxing and cocktails were fab. ย After dinner we sat on veranda upstairs and had few more drinks. Overall great place we were never rushed. ย Just one fault it's very expensive for what you get. Rice came with some of the dishes but we didn't want these so ordered salads instead but had to pay separately for them which should not have been the case.
Be the first to ReplyI was pretty excited to hear about Oak Alley opening up.
A new Orleans restaurant with hipster bearded waiters, jambalaya dishes and cocktails served in jars is something you would expect to find in South William St, Dublin, not a town in Kildare. The decor is shiny and new as you would expect but the food is the real talking point here. It's different and absolutely delicious. We went for the early bird menu which was โฌ18 for 2 courses. There is an option for a 3rd but the portions were so large we couldn't fit any more in. Well, except for cocktails that was. The upstairs bar is a great place for pre or after dinner drinks and the menu is extensive but kinda expensive. Go for the 2 for โฌ12 euro deal served up to 7.30 if you are on a budget. ย Oak Alley is a great addition to the already thriving restaurant scene in Maynooth. Like a lot of people I was unsure if New Orleans in Kildare would work, but it most definitely does.
Be the first to ReplyBrand new, so nice and clean.
The cocktail bar is excellent, good, though slightly expensive, cocktails, and a pleasant atmosphere. The food is bland and unimaginative, though edible. The service was nothing special. The waitresses had to continuously ask who was eating which dish (there were 2 of us). The manager asked if our meal "was OK?". If that's all they aim for, then that was what they achieved. My advice? Go here for pre-dinner cocktails, then eat somewhere else.
