Typical Italian restaurant
We had dinner at this restaurant and arrived right near closing (21.00) at 20.30, they still served us but asked us to choose quickly because the kitchen was closed. They were therefore kind enough to allow us entry right close to closing. The restaurant is a typical Italian restaurant, very cozy with tables with tablecloths and cloth napkins, which makes it more “cozy”. We ordered squid and shrimp risotto nero and garganelli alla bolognes, both of which were very good. For dessert we ordered tiramisu and a type of petit gateau with banana and a scoop of ice cream, they were very good, especially the petit gateau. The cost/quality is quite acceptable.

After a series of classic American junk lunches we finally found a little corner of Italy....the quality of the food was excellent, especially the pasta (perfect cooking and seasonings just like here)....excellent and friendly service.... not to be missed...

Wonderful Italian meal in Santa Barbara. Wait staff was attentive and our food was authentic. They also have a import store next to the restaurant so that you can possibly try to recreate your meal at home.

My husband and I were joined by another couple for dinner. We had a perfect evening. The service was attentive. The tables were well spaced. We felt like we were in Italy. We started with their special appetizer followed with duck ravioli, spinach tortellini, pappardelle with a quail, mushroom sausage ragu and carpaccio. The Fess Parker Viognier was a good choice. My homemade duck ravioli was full of flavor- I was reluctant to share! We finished the meal with gelato and lemon tart. We will definitely dine here on our next visit to Santa Barbara.
Be the first to ReplyA very good Italian food restaurant
One of the best Italian restaurant I tried in USA. Good service Food very very close to what you get i Italy. They kept the genuineness of Italian cuisine and the service that goes with it : - cloth on the table - clath napkins - excellent bread with good olive oil - decent portions - good wine list - and the food is very tatsy You do not need to call Ramsey to lift your restaurant. You are doing better than him.

Nice ambience and friendly service. Mixed drinks available. Homemade pasta offerings. (Next-door parking lot with entrance on adjacent side street.)
Be the first to ReplyConsistently demonstrates mediocrity
Overcooked veggies. Pasta too salty. Bruschetta need spices. Overall, grossly overpriced. Water was the best part of our meal.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as previous visits
The restaurant and staff were very nice. I had the pasta with quail and mushrooms, but the tomatoe sauce dominated completely and one could taste only that. I had asked to chat with the chef but he was too busy. I would have liked to get his input on that dish.

I'm afraid this visit to Olio e Limone was a big disappointment. I don't go there often, but often enough to know that usually the food, service and ambiance is amongst the best in Santa Barbara. Their prices are on the higher side for town, so hence why I don't go there too often. But on this occasion the service was appalling! We had to ask three times to get wine. Then, after being ignored for 30 minutes, we had to call over the busboy to ask him to please get our waiter to take our order! They knew we were going to the theater, and still procrastinated to the point that we were worried that we would have enough time to eat our meal! Once the food came, it was sort of mediocre. One friend ordered the special peach and buffola mozarella salad. The peaches were not ripe and only a half peach for a salad costing $14!!! I ordered the veal scallopini with artichokes. It was nice, but only luke-warm. Such a shame. And the roasted potatoes had obviously been sitting in a warmer for a long time. They looked great, but were soggy and obviously cooked a long time before serving. We had to wait a long time for our bill, and when it finally came, we had to sprint down State Street to the Lobero for our concert. All in all, not a good experience. I am afraid it will be a long, long time before I return to Olio e Limone.

Perfect evening for a wedding day, in a pleasant atmosphere. A public parking lot is not far from the restaurant, so we could easily reach it by car. We (2 adults and 2 children) felt very comfortable in this restaurant. Very friendly and attentive service. For appetizers we had melon/ham carpaccio and mozarella caprese, and two bread baskets with delicious bread and olive oil. For the main course we chose the specials of the day: - black ribbon noodles with prawns - Salmon with potato puree and green asparagus - spaghetti with parmesan (for our vegetarian daughter) The end of the evening was sweetened and crowned with the Rasburry Creme Bruleé and we went home with a smile. Every dish and every minute was worth the dollar. Absolutely recommended. The 4Ms
Be the first to ReplyNice Italian …
A very nice Italian (although some of the Italian feeling might have been lost on the way …) with a nice menu and wine list. Food is good … although maybe not to return again soon.

10 friends celebrating over 47 years of friendship from UCSB gathered to enjoy a delicious meal at Olio e Limone. From the start our waitress Morelia was warm and welcoming explaining the specials which many of us ordered - the duck ravioli, rabbit ravioli, and halibut. All were exceptional as well as the veal, salmon, and other pasta dishes - yum! We started with the pear salad, mushroom soup, and mozzarella. We finished our meal with the crème brûlée, pear tart, lemon tart, and panna cotta - all delicious with incredible flavor combinations. With our large group I made a reservation about 1 week in advance filling out the email form for a group of 12 or more - we had a few people that couldn’t make it - they got right back to me - great communication! We were seated in the the back room which was great for a large group. My only suggestion for a better dining experience would be to have music from Tony Bennett to add to the ambiance! Thanks for making our reunion so fun!
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal at Olio!
Had a fantastic dinner at Olio on a family trip to SB. We had planned to go to Bouchon that night (right next door), but couldn’t get a table. I’m glad we didn’t. Had the roasted half chicken (perfectly spiced and prepared) with spinach and potatoes and it was the best meal of a 4 night stay in SB during which we hit many good restaurants, even Bouchon a few nights later. The kids loved the pasta bolognese.
