Omakase
I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday with my husband at this restaurant. We got seated when we got there and ordered our bottle of sake. They had a small selection but we asked for a recommendation since we aren't familiar with sake. The bottle they offered was perfect for what we wanted. Each dish was fresh and flavorful. By the end they asked if we wanted anything ala cart but the omakase we chose was plenty enough. Would recommend coming here for a date.
Be the first to ReplyVery rude and unprofessional host
After an afternoon at the Kabuki Theatre my wife and I decided to dine at Japantown Mall, to our surprise the place was packed with diners and the waitlists were long. That is when we noticed this hole in the wall , awkward looking casual diner , the counter was empty with only 2 customers so we asked the host if we can get a seat for which we got an immediate rejection (although we were right on time for the 1st seating 6:10pm ) but she offered us a seat on 7:45pm with a credit card number for a guarantee since we had no other choice we agreed. We returned on time to find out that the host gave our seat to another group which by her words reserved after us when we tried to explain to her that our reservation was much earlier than them and our seats was guaranteed by our credit card she became rude and offensive that is when we left to avoid further conflict with her, needless to say this was my worst encounter with a such rude an unproffessional host in the last 40 years in this city and I'll definitely not go back to this sad establishment .

Great sushi with friendly service at a bar in the mall. You need to book ahead. All of the dishes we had were excellent.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Sushi in a Casual Environment
I live in San Francisco and rarely review local restaurants but wanted to give a shout out to Oma SF Station. The fish was really fresh and had interesting flavors (no soy sauce needed). I went with my boyfriend and we ordered the $55 omakase and then ended up adding on a few pieces at the end. In the beginning they asked us if there were any things we didn't like, which I really appreciate. The environment is casual, you are literally sitting in the Japantown mall with only 8 seats available, but it reminded me of sushi experiences in Japan. It also encouraged conversation and wasn't as stuffy as many other high end sushi places. Overall it was a fun experience and we will definitely be back.

We had the "secret menu" on Saturday. Each piece of sushi (and one delicious hand roll) was expertly prepared and seasoned by the chefs as we sat a few inches away and watched and chatted. We had at least 15 varieties of fish (lost count), each perfectly fresh and flavorful. The chefs and staff are generous with information and are very friendly. The sake list is a winner. The entire experience was excellent. We'll return.
Be the first to ReplyGet the toro (tuna belly)!
Toro was very delicious and the nigiri was fresh and generously sliced. I would come back here for the toro. The maguro was ok, nothing too special.
The ramen was a bit of a disappointment. The soup was not too flavorful. I would not order this again.
I would come back here for the sashimi.
Dinner for my Date night was a success here!
After passing by while within the mall I was intrigued by the chefsโ focus and the positive comments I heard from their clientele. So I made reservations before my three hour movie at the kabuki and was so pleased with my experience. The meal was reminiscent of my experience at tsukiji fish market in Tokyo. Each item was placed on my plate as it was finished by the chef, one at a time with an introduction each time from the chef. The server was very attentive and attempted to make sure there was no need to ask for anything. Each menu serving was delicious and seasoned and paced/sequenced appropriately for a good meal progression. There were a few pieces where the fish had a dangling portion or a small imperfection but 90% was pretty flawless. The execution AND food was better than robin and my check was less. I think people just donโt know about this place. Iโd go back. I wonโt be going back to robin. Thatโs a true litmus test. And I throw money at sushi places ;)
Be the first to ReplyExpensive but good
This is an experience meal. The sushi itself was delicious and each piece had a unique flavor. But watching a sushi master put each piece together for you, and then to have the explanation of exactly what each piece is and how it was prepared was the best part. The only catch is the price. I would have liked to see a little bit more sushi for what I paid, but I still feel like it was a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyService was not good . The rolls were fresh and tasty.
The waitress was super nice to us , always with a smile on her face , but she never realized there were napkins and a fork missing. She was too much in a hurry and it was kind of a โfast food โ service by the way she would serve the table .
We decided to give her a 10 per cent tip .
When we were about to leave , she complained saying that 18 per cent and above was what we should give her .
So rude of her . Of course we did not.
On the other hand the rolls were super fresh and tasty .
Free green tea . The place is nothing special nor the atmosphere.
Delicious!
Excellent! We loved this small specialty sushi restaurant! It was a very personal and wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyQuaint 7 seater sushi bar with amazing food and service
We were patrons to their soft open. Wilson, Sam, and Ming were attentive and informative. I had the Omakase 12 piece nigiri and 1 Temaki for $85. The food kept coming and drinks kept flowing. Every morsel simply melted in my mouth. Ate the pieces as prepared by the chef. The sushi rice was combined with aged rice vinegar. The red miso soup was the perfect ending to the meal.
The sushi bar is in a quaint corner of the mall and in the open to the floor. The sounds did not distract me from incredible experience. Due to the placement of the bar, the focal points were on food, drink, chef, and company (seated beside me).
I can not wait to go back again.
