Fine dining
Very good individual cuisine, nice atmosphere - good service - what you would expect at these prices. All in all, a good recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyGreat choice for dinner in New York
We were in New York for the weekend and met up with friends for dinner. They had chosen the restaurant and we knew nothing about it. It was perfect! We were able to take our time and didn't feel rushed. We are non drinkers, and they had great mocktails. They also had alcoholic drinks. The food was delicious. I had a hamburger which was probably the best I have ever had. For dessert i shared a lemon pavlova with my husband and it was outstanding. The staff were very friendly. I hope to go back again the next time I am in New York.

*PLEASE READ* I had made the reservation all the way back on 9/6 as a Global Dining Access Member for 9/29 via Resy, very eager to see what One White Street had to offer. We arrived at One White Street shortly before our reservation time despite the horrendous flooding weather, gave a staff member our belongings and obtained a #20 gold token to be used later for our same belongings at the end of the night. We were then escorted to the 3rd floor for the counter seating. We finished our bland meal, paid, called a car to head back home and headed down the stairs around 11pm. I would like to preface that we have been to hundreds of Michelin starred restaurants all over the globe over the years as it is a hobby of ours. We noticed there was nobody to greet us out the door or to assist with our belongings. This was a first. We proceeded to take initiative as our ride home was approaching and headed down the stairs to retrieve our belongings. My guest went first with myself behind, she then slipped on the top wet marble/slate step and proceeded to fall down the additional 5/6 stairs until the bottom, with her backside slamming first. To no avail was any employee to assist in helping her up or helping us with our belongings after the incident either. Very embarrassed, she just wanted to leave the scene and get in the car we had outside waiting to go home. Before we had entered the vehicle, I noticed there was no yellow or slip sign and a small, but noticeable puddle of some substance on the top step going down where the slip happened as we were trying to retrieve our own belongings. Additionally before leaving the restaurant James had given me his information written on the back of Alfred's business card. When reaching out via telephone James had mentioned this was a "fluke" experience and to write this all via email. He admitted no wrong doing nor an apology. It has now been over a week and I have not heard from the restaurant nor their HR department at all. For a $600 2 person tasting menu experience I will not be returning. Extremely disappointed in this establishment the night of the accident and what transpired a week after. Very disrespectful.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible Food and Terrible Service
Shame on you! This is the steak I ordered for medium rare! (See picture) I asked the server about the doneness when it was first served, and he insisted it is medium rare for them. When I could hardly cut it through, I asked the server to take another look. The server took the plate back to the kitchen and soon presented me with the same plate without further explanation. Possibly, he thought he could get away with this by taking advantage of me having a date here and not willing to make a big deal out of this. I came here before this restaurant earned its Michelin star this year and decided to return for an important date. I was so mad and sad to have this experience. What a Shame!
Be the first to ReplyTasty menu, but without something very unusual
We visited this restaurant for a dinner with tasting menu. Good and nutritious menu: starters and lamb were excellent, other dishes were good, but not extra striking. I think, Chef plays safe and cautious: no bright experiences with tastes. Small cocktail card, but cocktails are tasty. Not all staff is smiley - some of them just bring dishes and clean the table, no easy talk and smiles.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular Haut Cuisine restaurant find in Tribeca
On Friday evening we had dinner at One White Street in Tribeca. The restaurant came highly recommended by friends and they recently earned a Michelin star. The restaurant comes across on the small side, but they have an upper floor where the tasting menu is served and there are several tables under an awning for outside seating. When we arrived and joined our friends, the sommelier was pouting a sparkling wine. This may have been ordered by our table mates, since they had already been seated. I bring up the wine because my wife and I remarked these were the lightest wine glasses we have ever seen. We have only seen them once before, in Europe. I took a picture of the base and learned they are made by William Yeoward. These are not cheap, but the elegance bowls you over. We started by sharing several dishes, which carried through as our theme for dinner. This included the Foie Gras Presse ($28) and Garlic Mozzarella Focaccia ($16). There is plenty to share. Our entree course included several shared dishes including Smoked Carrots ($14). Charred Snap Pas ($16), Crispy Potatoes ($14) Roasted Duck ($46) and Grilled Monkfish Chop ($42). I was fine with sharing and felt there was plenty for everyone. The food was splendid. I am a wine fan. The short wine list is interesting. They have high end burgundies priced in the low thousands, but they also have great bottles that are also affordable. We ordered Pernand Vergelesses, a red Burgundy priced at $62.00/bottle. It was so good, we had two! We had two desserts, a caramel chocolate torte and a whipped dessert topped with aromatic herbs. These were fine for sharing too. We did not want the evening to end, but we thought other people might be waiting for our table. We paid the bill and headed outside where we were able to get another table under the canopy. We ordered a bottle of dessert wine, a Marsala from Italy. The bottle, which was full size, ran $99.00. I mention full side because other dessert wines often come in half bottle sizes. Location is an another point in their favor. The restaurant is diagonally across the street from the Franklin Street stop on the #1 train. Are there negatives? The restaurant is small. It might be difficult to get a reservation. Plan ahead. Our experience was excellent. They are deserving of their Michelin star. We would return.
Be the first to ReplyA truly memorable, gastronomic experience.
Whilst visiting NYC from London, we visited One White Street with some friends from the city. We had the tasting menu as we were there for dinner. The staff are very polite, professional and explained each course. With each course you could tell how much emphasis and love went it to making each ingredient pop. This restaurant is all about the fresh ingredients and giving you a truly memorable dinner. Yes it’s stupidly expensive however for us this was a one off experience to try NYC fine dining at its best. I loved every minute of this dinner.

Meh. Finally snagged a table at this over hyped place but disappointed. We arrived on time for our reserved bar seats, but was told they would open up in a few minutes but they never did. Instead we sat at a table out front on sidewalk and were then ignored. Menu is small, choices are limited & overpriced but tasty. So sad this place 5 minutes from our apartment is a let down. We almost left and went to Terra next door, regret not making that move.

We stumbled upon this little restaurant and what a find. Farm to fork dining at its best. The menu changes daily depending on what is delivered from their farm, so everything is incredibly fresh and considered. The head chef Jordan, was very friendly and accommodating, no ego just a love of cooking and the joy of looking after his customers. The food was outstanding. Pea shoot salad, foie gras, ramps pasta, all absolutely delicious. A highlight for me was a dish of heritage carrots cooked with grapes and gently spiced. Absolutely delicious! Who knew a carrot could taste this good. A sublime and very rich chocolate and salted caramel tart was the finishing touch. So good we are returning again in two days time. A Michelin star must be on the cards.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful space with even more beautiful food!
I will start off by saying they are. Wry deserving of their Michelin star and I would not be surprised to seeing ** in the future. I will start off by saying that the building in the interior is absolutely stunning. Just knowing that this used to be a residential townhouse and that they were able to turn it into such a beautiful, magnificent space is awe inspiring. If you get a chance to walk all three floors, you will be simply amazed at how well it flows from one floor to the next. The tables and the seating are very intimate. You almost immediately you feel settled in and cozy in an unbelievably elegant atmosphere. I was fortunate enough to experience the tasting menu, and I would have to write pages and pages to be able to explain the amazing food. Each dish presented and explained perfectly. The foie gras is out of this world. The culinary team here clearly knows what they’re doing being led by Chef Austin. I won’t go into details about all the dishes but there wasn’t a single miss on the entire menu. And, let’s not forget the Desert!!!!! Their pastry chef is NEXT LEVEL!! Extensive brilliant wine selection. Thank you One White Street for an amazing dinner!!!! You are very deserving of all the accolades.

Can’t say enough about this spot , not an easy reservation and not a bargain but it is top notch all around. We ate ala carte downstairs, a small but comfortable room. There is a seven course tasting menu upstairs I was told.Creative, well presented , and unique are ways I would describe the menu. Pay attention to the small menu here ,there are a fair number of things going on in each option , it works very well. The hot food didn’t come out very hot, but nothing was under or over cooked. Great mix of flavors. Wine game here is 1st class , by the glass or bottles they know what they are doing. Service was not lacking , it was a waiter , a somm , and one or two servers for our table of four.Desert options , there were 2.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t come here for special occasions
If you’re rich AF and can casually spend $700 on a weeknight meal than this is your place. Do not come here for a special occasion unless you want it ruined. We purposely came here over other restaurants to sit at the chef counter, and they decided to shut that floor down and not even tell us. They also didn’t seat us until 20 minutes after our reservation time. Again, no big deal if $700 is your average night and it’s not a special occasion. Very disorganized, staff looks miserable, and not operating on par with other high quality nyc restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyAll went right on White!
We went to One White based on various reviews. We had originally been looking for a Michelin rated restaurant. This place may be well on their way. It is located in a renovated town house in TriBeCa, NY. If you are there for the tasting, know that you will have to climb stairs to the second or third floors. Each floor has it's own kitchen. The first floor opens out to alfresco dining. We dined on the second floor which accommodates about 5 tables. Very intimate. The service was very attentive. Interestingly, the change of silverware for each course was presented in a small cup rather than placed at each person's setting. This did seem more hygienic, but odd all the same. We were given a listing of choices for the 5 course tasting. There are vegetarian choices also. A sheet and pencil was provided and we initialed our choices. Stand outs were the foie gras presse (imbued with strawberries) with a yummy fresh Parker house roll, the striped bass with manila clams in a foamy squash bath, and both desserts. Dessert was a choice of a slice of dense black forest cake with cherry-beer (?) sorbet or lemon verbena semi-freddo with berries. Oh, just call it ice cream already! The opening yellow summer gazpacho was also tasty and refreshing. Wasn't thrilled with the chicken which had too many spices competing. Other tables had the wine pairing but it looked like it would be too much to consume. The service and timing of courses flowed nicely. This was a small, clubby dining experience. You felt like your fellow diners were in on the secret of this stashed away find of a restaurant. This is not an inexpensive night out for most people. Certainly not for children nor for unadventurous eaters. The vibe and the food feel like the chef and staff are serious about dining, and happy to share it with you. The tasting was quite filling and satisfying. Bring your appetite and credit card. Hoping that important reviewers get to check it out. Keep up the good work, team!

Absolutely amazing food, friendly, relaxed service and all-round great experience. I was on my own, and sat at the chef’s tasting bar on the second floor. Every server was friendly, relaxed and helpful. Everyone seemed - rightfully - proud of the incredible food being served. The foie gras with potato bread and the chicken were highlights for me. Honestly this will be the place I recommend to all my friends, it was great food, done exactly right. I had an amazing evening. This place is worth watching. And please go. I have no idea what the previous reviewer was talking about! (And also, I’d be very happy with a candle in the dessert for a birthday in a restaurant.)
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing! So bad, do not go!
My wife and I had read the reviews and booked a table in the tasting menu restaurant, which is located upstairs. Be warned, this is a fairly small restaurant and, even though Covid-19 restrictions have been eased, the seating is very close together. I guess so the restaurant can squeeze in as many customers as possible. Be prepared to overhear lots of different conversations as you dine, which is very off-putting. Also, we were sat next to a window that was drafty, even though someone had vulgarly stuck tape over the closed window. No other seating available.
Let's move on to the dining. After paying close to $500 for two, our expectations were reasonably high. We should have managed our expectations more appropriately, as this was terrible.
We both started with a piece of roasted squash that had several sauces squirted over the top. Did not look great, but surprisingly tasted okay.
We were then served some hot and spicy mess (Believe me, I am certainly not misusing this word!) that was referred to as 'Smoked Grains and Parsnip' with harissa, dates and spiced almonds. The appearance of this dish was awful, it was overly complicated and did not taste very nice. I really am not sure why this was served.
We chose the tuna and foie gras starter, thinking this unusual combination would be unique and tasty. We were wrong, it did not work. Furthermore, my wife had to report a string of fat, which was laced through her foie gras. Very unpleasant. The robotic server thanked us for drawing this to his attention.
Next up was roasted monkfish with brown butter, lemon, capers and charred broccoli. It was okay. The fish was overcooked, but given our dreadful starting courses, it was a slight step up.
We both had the grilled pork collar with hay smoked carrots, candied pistachio, sesame and black garlic puree. This piece of meat had should have been cooked 'low and slow'. However, my cut was still fatty and very disappointing. Problems with quality here.
Yuzu sherbet with black sesame crumble and coconut foam was alright. A bit of a palate-cleanser before dessert. I would suggest difficult to mess this up.
For dessert, I had Chocolate-Coffee Torchon with Irish cream and cocoa nibs. Not bad. My wife had the Angel Food Cake with olive oil ice cream, cajeta (Mexican caramel sauce, so I'm told!), pineapple and passionfruit. Guess what, the cake was dry.
Service was efficient, but robotic. Do not expect any humor from the servers. The wine-pourer (he was not a sommelier) short changed my $20 glass of wine, which was very displeasing. I ended up drinking cocktails. By this stage, all hope had been lost, as had my desire to complain.
The atmosphere was vibrant but, as mentioned before, tables were very close together making seating uncomfortable.
We would not recommend the food, the atmosphere or the service. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else and you'll probably save money. As for the restaurant, you really need to up your game to compete in this very busy market.
There is one last thing I should like to mention which seemed quite symbolic of this venue. A fellow customer was coincidentally celebrating his birthday, and his server simply placed one lit candle in his dessert. That's right, one candle in the dessert that he'd ordered. Wow, what customer service! I guess that pretty much sums up the restaurant and its staff.
