Korean town Gastropub With Plenty of Heart and Great Food
This modern Korean Gastropub in midtown Manhattan serves up tasty morsels, tapas style treats, full course dishes, and all were SUPER tasty. The skewered fish and meats were excellent, but the spicy wings were our favorite. We were so impressed with dinner at Osamil that we came back after a Broadway show for another round of drinks and wings. The service was friendly, attentive and professional. Whether it’s cocktails or mocktails, the 2023 NYC Best Cocktails bar at Osamil is peerless. John Carpo’s liquid creations are unique, inventive and tasty—-his dedication to his craft is evident in the drinks he creates. Bravo!! A DEFINITE MUST FOODIE DESTINATION

Not value for money, very little food, left the restaurant hungry. Staff very challenging when leaving a tip under 20% , we actually required and needed minimal service due to our order.
Be the first to ReplyVery tasty
They sat us right away at 7 on a Saturday. Super tasty food- we had squid fries and fried chicken for two. So much food, we brought some home. Cocktail was so cute in a small bathtub. Recommend
Be the first to ReplyTasty, Modern Korean Food in Midtown NYC
Very tasty modern Korean food... and very popular. We were a walk in group and only got a table because of a no show... just lucky with out timing really - would recommend booking. It was full which added to lively atmosphere, but not overly loud/ crowded. The food was lovely as were the cocktails/ mocktails ... particularly found the Osamil Kimchi Fried Rice really tasty as was the 'Good Drank' mocktail Staff were friendly and around when needed... overall a lovely experience

The atmosphere was great, food was amazing (great flavor and a wide variety of elevated street food and larger dishes) and the drinks are a reason to come on their own.
Be the first to ReplyPretty bland overall
It's been four years since my first visit and this time, I tried the food. It's still gonna be 3 stars from me. Our party of 5 had ressos for a Friday night at 7 pm. We all arrived around the same time just before 7 and they were able to seat us. We were seated at a round table. It wasn't squished but it wasn't spacious either so I wouldn't recommend coming with more people than that. For drinks, I had the Seoul-Mate (Hwayo 41, Grey Goose Strawberry & lemongrass essence, Martini & Rossi Fiero L’Aperitivo, Rockey’s botanical liqueur, grapefruit Oleo-saccharum, lemon). At first, I wasn't sure what to make of it because it had this cinnamon (or nutmeg?) aftertaste, but it grew on me. For food, we ordered a bunch of things to share. Truffle fries (potato, smoked pimento, truffle oil, jalapeño ash mayo dip) - think McDonald's fries but gourmet. The truffle oil was very nice Squid fries (squid, soy wasabi mayo dip & vinegar gochujang dip) - the squid fries were okay but the soy wasabi mayo was perfect. The wasabi is just the right amount, not too overpowering. Beef tartare (hand-cut prime beef, Korean pear, quail egg, gochujang rémoulade, pine nut) - this was a very small portion and pretty bland, and a bit chewy Clam tang (cherry stone, manila, garlic, jalapeño, bonito) - the broth was soothing for a cold night but the clams were chewy Seafood Rosé Tokbokki (rice cake, Hollander & de Köning mussel, shrimp, fish cake, bird’s eye chili, fried mozzarella, micro arugula, basil oil, tomato-cream sauce) - I did not care for this one. It felt like it was trying too hard to be a Korean/Italian fusion, especially with the rice balls. The rice cake itself just tasted like they threw tomato sauce and mozzarella onto some tteokbokki Osamil kimchi fried rice with added hanger steak (house-made kimchi, Nueske bacon, egg & garlic, and beef crunch) - nothing you can’t make yourself at home Uni bibimbap (chef selected uni, quinoa, wasabi tobiko, rice, house-made kimchi, soy pickled radish & dressing, perilla, shallot, seaweed purée, frisée) - the quinoa was interesting. After mixing, you can’t really taste the uni Overall, everything was kind of bland. I think the flavor profile was there but they just needed some salt or MSG to really pump it up. My favorite dish was the fries. Think of this place as a higher end Korean gastropub. With so many other (and better options with cheaper prices in K-Town), I don't see myself coming back for a third visit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat cocktails!
We visited the “Upstairs” portion of this business. Not the same as the main restaurant but sister business. Very quiet, dark, and beautiful. Excellent mixology, all cocktails were delicious. The charcuterie board was rather small and somewhat “commercial “ feeling in its presentation but tasty. Service was excellent. Reservations highly recommended.

Be the first to ReplyWow!! Great food!
Came here for a cousins get together. We ordered a lot of food and enjoyed all of it. I don’t usually eat spicy so I basically stuck with the non spicy options. Everything was delicious! The soy sauce wings were my favorite as well as the pork dish. Would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting Dishes, Lively Atmosphere
Was fun to try new food in a lively atmosphere. We had the Johnson Tang (Korean stew, enough food for at least two), Kimchi Fried Rice, Wings and Squid Fries. All was excellent.

While visiting NYC, we dined at Osamil and we’re wowed by the delicious entrees we selected: Korean market fried chicken, pot shank, and uni bibimbap. The presentation of the dishes were gourmet decorative. The pork shank was juicy and tender and the chicken was crispy outside, and soft and tender inside. Our drink compliments were chamisul grapefruit soju, KSD Makgeolli rice wine, Osamil cocktail, and da green monstah. We’ll be back when in New York again.

This restaurant never disappointed me. They have weekly specials not to miss. Their Korean market fried chicken is so crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside that it is to die for. Their beef tartare is on another label. The pork shank it’s better to share, very large portion but succulent. Love their wings specially the Soy & Garlic. Another good item to try is the Uni Bibimbap. They used to have grilled avocado with crab on their menu, no longer available but if they offer it again definitely is a must to try.

A great Korean pub, with inventive dishes, some in tapas portions (which are sufficient, by US size ...), with a lively atmosphere in the back of Korea Town. Good vibes, enthusiastic crowd fueled by nice cocktails.

Landed on this restaurant by chance and went twice for dinner as food was amazing! Ambience, service and wine where all spot on. Would highly recomend this little gem.
Be the first to ReplyA true hidden gem
This unassuming Korean style pub has something for everyone. While we saw tables filled with pub style food (notably french fries), most dined on unique Korean preparations. We started with an oyster and chive pancake. Unlike most Korean pancakes that are mostly the flour mixture. this was filled with julienne vegetables with oysters, with only enough starch to hold it together, We then shared the bouillabaisse. We were told it was large enough to share, and it was. Filled with large and small clams, large and small shrimp, squid, mussels, scallops and fish, with a lobster claw and partial to boot, the lobster stock permeated the seafood to create an astounding flavor combination. The service was prompt and efficient, and we were made to feel welcome. We will return to try many of the of the offerings that we missed. While the voices of the diners carried, there was the absence of loud music, so that the ambiance was good.
