🤮 1/5 - Avoid the Afternoon Tea

My friend and I visited the Oxo restaurant on Thursday 21st July for Afternoon Tea. We chose Oxo for the views and, being from Australia, we were exited to have a traditionally great British experience. However, we did not have great experience, and left the venue feeling robbed and disappointed. To begin, we had to ask a member of the waiting staff to order after being seated for 15 minutes with no one taking our tea order. This didn’t dampen our excitement as sometimes mistakes happen, but the mistakes didn’t end there. Our food arrived- extremely dry sandwiches, a very peculiar/disgusting cucumber & coconut soup that was inedible for us both, dry cakes. After attempting to get our money’s worth by eating the food, 10 minutes passed and we hadn’t received our tea, so at this point it was just an Afternoon, without the Tea. After asking another member of staff about the whereabouts of the tea itself, it arrived at the table post-attempted consumption of food. Tried to numb the pain with a cocktail, which was poorly mixed and not pleasant. The only positive were the scones, actually delicious- however, we did have to ask for cream and jam as they didn’t come with the scones initially… Overall, will not return. Appalling service, staffing communication issues and mostly poor food quality. We left feeling cheated after collectively spending £130 on afternoon tea and 2 cocktails. We are big fans of Tesco meal deals and both agreed we’d rather the £130 was spent on 40 meal deals, much better value for money and would taste better.
