PERIYALI Reviews from The Last Year
I had snapper.
It was perfectly cooked. The staff there is very friendly. Moderately loud but still ok for conversation.
I wish I could say this was a great restaurant.
But I can't...because if you are a person of color they try to seat you away from the main dining room in a corner nook away from all the other customers. When they tried to do it to me, I had to tell the host this is not the 1950's. And they sat me up front. It is so disappointing that in 2024, this kind of racism exists. If you are Black - stay away from this restaurant. They do not deserve your patronage.
OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY
We were a group of 20 family and friends, there to celebrate the lives of our cousins, husband and wife, whose ashes we scattered in the afternoon in Manhattan. The private room upstairs at Periyali was ideal for the occasion, private and beautiful enabling much talk, many toasts, and spoken memories. The food was brilliant(and I say this as someone who was never keen on Greek food) .The service was more than incredible, graciously attending to all and to some who had difficult drink requests. The staff had both skill and humor. Thank you to this restaurant that surpassed all that was anticipated.
Great Greek food but not G-F friendly
You step down from the New York street into an authentic Greek taverna with skylights and great decor. Service is excellent. My husband had a great meal of souvlaki. Me. Not so much. I had the mixed starter with Taramosalata, humus, tzatziki, eggplant purée, and bean purée. They did bring carrot and celery sticks and cucumber slices as I said I was G-F. But the dips were so watery they did not taste very nice with the veggie sticks. It was all a bit smooshy. The server suggested I go over the road to Trader Joes and get my own crackers. I did get a doggy bag to go and got some G-F crackers next day. Much better.
A Mainstay for a Reason - Periyali is a Must-Visit!
There's a reason this restaurant has been in business for 37 years, it's consistently great. The restaurant recently underwent a massive renovation and it feels light, bright and airy. The service was standout, warm and inviting and the dishes were all delightful. My friend and I started with the mushrooms and beets and then went onto indulge in the Branzino for two which was massive and served with a large portion of broccolini. The fish was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Can't wait for an excuse to go back to try their price fixe menu, which looked like a steal at $49. Highly recommend!
Food was fresh and nicely presented.
Chicken was dry. Service was unfriendly. Our friend felt the ambiance could have said "Greek" a little more by playing Greek music. Most disturbing, though, was the withholding of the lunch menu. When we arrived at 12:30, we were given dinner menus. When we asked if there was a lunch menu, it was as if they didn't want us to have it. They kept saying, it's only a prix fixe menu...everything is the same as the dinner menu. We actually had to insist that they give us the lunch menu -- whereupon we found out the price was not the same. That's just plain cheesy.
Nice, but pricey
Had a really good family meal here. Ambience is nice if a little quiet. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Taramosalata was exceptional as was the bread. Moussaka was good if very filling. Sea bass was nice although expensive. Wine ditto. Overall a nice place but nothing really elevated it to the outstanding. Perhaps if it hadn’t been so expensive I would be more praising - but for very decent Greek food in a central location it’s a good choice.

Excellent food Superior service Fantastic ambiance The octopus is a must! My go too restaurant in NYC!!
Periyali was my first fine dining experience when I landed
Periyali was my first fine dining experience when I landed in NYC many years ago. I remembered the space being very rustic, and I recall that their Octopus was superb. Fast Forward and the dining room has been renovated, and the Octopus is still excellent. I grabbed a table today and ordered some fried Zucchini to start. It was lightly fried, and the Tzatziki sauce was delicious. The prep on the Octopus was different, but still very delicious. My experience was probably four and a half stars. I'm surprised that a bottle of sparkling water cost $12. Is everybody is NYC rich?
Always outstanding! Mac, our server, was on point as always.
.. We visited with two vegan friends. No problem. Many choices, and as main entrees, the kitchen prepared a lovely and delicious plate of vegetables drizzled with olive oil and lemon. Hey, I may have that next time I'm in, and I'm not vegan. Deliciousness and a good time, for sure! Our staples are always the octopus and the saganaki. Any fish is always delicious, although one always debates over the salmon in phyllo dough. Thanks for a great evening! See you soon...
Worst service ever.
I have no more to say about this place. Wild horses could not drag me back.
I'll be honest, I had not been to Periyali before it was
I'll be honest, I had not been to Periyali before it was renovated, but upon visiting here you can tell this restaurant is a beloved space and well regarded in the neighborhood. The staff here is honestly the best, I felt so well taken care of there. My recommendation? Get the mezze platter, the octopus and split and fish and lamb dish. Save room for dessert. We had the walnut cake with a side of ice cream and it was a perfect ending to the meal. Definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Don’t miss
We came for lunch and had a baby with us. The staff was most kind and considerate, service was perfect. Food was outstanding. We had the octopus, branzino and mussaka- all delicious. Excellent experience!

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I’m sorry to hear about this - I’m a brand new seller on the platform and didn’t realize this was a *thing* - any chance you can point me to the fine print/documentation where this policy is stated (also identifying other caveats like this would be appreciated)?
