Steak is good, but everything and I mean everything is expensive and overpriced... $35 for 1 martini and 1 dark beer! $18 a side! $220 for a steak for 3! $17 for 1 desert, and $6 for per coffee.. if you come here prepare to easily drop $500 for a party of 3.. also it's cash or debit card only

We had wanted to come here for the longest time since I found out they take debit cards (not credit cards, debit cards!) We were originally going to come for lunch for my hubs birthday over the summer but I got sick, then I was away, blah blah took until winter to finally come here. It was worth the wait! Our son couldn't care less about his delicious fries we instead enjoyed lol. Loved our burgers. Ambiance was great and it was a perfect place for lunch. It was winter break so it seemed a lot of parents had the same idea as us to come for a burger lunch with a kid :P our son did very much enjoy his bread which he cut himself! Almost gave my hubs a heart attack lol. We also saved some chocolate coins they gave us to use this Sunday :P

Had the medium rare porterhouse steak for two with potatoes and creamed spinach. Excellent- juicy perfectly cooked steak and the potatoes were heavenly. Ambiance is old fashioned, wood paneled elegance. Amazing service by our very attentive and friendly waiter Lorik - best in the business. If you'reucky enough to get him, you'll have an even better experience. Very expensive meal and worth every penny.

Peter Luger at Great Neck is absolutely amazing! This Wednesday March 6/2024 was my husband b-day, I decided to do something extra special! I'm glad I chose Peter Luger at Great Neck. The ambiente is warm and cozy. Everyone from front desk to servers are absolutely awesome! The food is a party on your mouth.. we absolutely enjoyed it! Its worthy the money.. The only one thing I would wish they had the same exactly hashbrowns, potatoes from Peter Lucas at Brooklyn everything else is spectacular. %
Be the first to ReplyHaters are gonna hate and I love it.
Infatuation just dropped best steak list and of course left Lugers off the list. I don't need it on any list to know it's one of the best steaks not only in NY but In the country.
Be the first to ReplyA decent place for steakhouse lovers, though I will say
A decent place for steakhouse lovers, though I will say that this place has gone down a bit in quality. I have been here for years but the last time I went back, it didn't hit as much as my first couple of times. Don't get me wrong, the steak is still super great quality but I think the rise in other steakhouses has overshined Peter Luger's. Recapping my recent experience: Service always 10/10, never had any issues, except that reservation system is not that great because you still have to wait a bit even after you have a reservation. Food: We got the Porterhouse for 3 for 4 people (this is fairly enough), Jumbo Shrimp cocktail, Sizzling Bacon, and Fried potatoes. Bacon was always salty but is super juicy and is a must to get! Shrimp cocktail is decent but definitely skippable. I recommend the Porterhouse medium rare, and fried potatoes simultaneously so meat is not overwhelming. The steak is a bit burnt for my liking, but the insides are still juicy. The quality could be better. We got apple strudel and chocolate mousse for dessert but they were just average. Overall, it's still pretty decent but it is a place that is not cheap and may not be your best experience. Service does make up for it. I haven't been to the Williamsburg one so I can't compare
Be the first to ReplyIt's Peter Lugers.
You either love it or hate it. I personally love it. That first bite where you experience the char is amazing!!
Be the first to ReplyWould repeat, but .
... For the Price the quality of service, atmosphere and service should be a lot better.
Be the first to ReplyThis was an great place to get a steak.
Staff was prompt and efficient. The ambiance was just what my wife and I were looking for. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyI dont know why I have never reviewed PL Great Neck because
I dont know why I have never reviewed PL Great Neck because its one of my favorite restaurants ever and I've been visiting this place for 30 years! Even when I lived around the block, in manhattan, brooklyn etc...we'd always come back to the GN location. The best steak I've ever had. I particularly love the GN location because the broiled lobster is second to none. I could eat a bowl of the breadcrumbs alone. The burger is also delicious and now that I have kids, they request to go to PL just for the burger. I know I'll be coming for the next 30 years .... and every meal has been as strong and consistent as the last.
Be the first to ReplyI have had my fair share of quality steaks during my time
I have had my fair share of quality steaks during my time on this planet (earth), now if you are wondering why I felt the need to specify the name of my home/current planet, well it is simply because we don't know when this review will be read. Maybe an alien, mayhaps one of the Grey's will stumble upon my review on a tablet (of course a Droid, as the people rioted and destroyed all Apple products in 2057, obviously with the necessary exceptions; the Apple II gs, and the once again uber popular ipod Shuffle!) 100 years from now. Well Mr. Gray I had the place for you! I had heard this location was a bit different than the original in Brooklyn one but only the atmosphere, the menu is exactly the same from my understanding. This is a good thing as I always wanted to try to go to the Brooklyn location, but making a reservation a WEEK in advance is tough for me, as I try not plan any more than 10 minutes in advance. We did have a reservation, which is required at this location, but that reservation was made only the night before! The menu is clear and concise and I don't need to buy Cliff notes to get thru it (I'm looking at you Cheesecake Factory). After arriving, and a quick 5 minute stay in the lounge, we were lead to our table by very friendly hostees. As the wine list was reviewed and a mid range bottle of cap was selected but I started the Pre-dinner portion of the night with an old fashion, (And yes I mean the drink...perverts!)Anywho... I had been informed by many people to try the bacon, so try the bacon, I did! I also went with the cream corn and potatoes. All is served family style and of course, we got the steak for 2. Because if you're not getting the steak why are you at Peter Luger's? As the nice cab aerated, I knew it would compliment the steak perfectly as we ordered them medium rare. Anymore well done then that would cause great shame that would follow my family for generations and you may be forced to wear the letters WD so that all you come in contact with, know your "well down" secret! Maybe on the extreme side, you'd be carried out slightly bewildered and tar and feathered right in the streets! I don't know this to be fact but I certainly wouldn't want to find out. Just go medium rare or below, if for no other reason, then to save the feathers! Poor birds! Now as you know I have always been a crunchy bacon kind of guy (Maybe you don't know, like I said before, I don't know who is reading this). That actually might be one of the defining qualities of who I am as a person. OK maybe I took that a little far but I do INDEED enjoy crunchy bacon. This is NOT crunchy bacon BUT I was ready for this as I was informed by many people that I still need to try it and that I would not be disappointed. As seen below in my picture it's a nice slab of fatty bacon that melts in your mouth! The spinach is great the potatoes are also amazing but the main event of course, is the steak that comes to the table sizzling looking like something directly out of the Flintstone opening theme song. After the sommelier did his thing and I was aerating my glass, the steak came out (rejoice!) Much like with the wine, the waiter explains the different cuts of meat. All staff were knowledgeable and always willing to help.At this point, my mouth is watering and I couldn't wait to try it. My cab was now fully aerated and I was ready to take my 1st bite of Peter's steak. There are events in one's life that you always remember if just a slight memory; The 1st day of school, your first Kiss, Maybe your 1st sexual experience. Well, I petition that one's 1st bite of Peter Lugger's steak be added to that list. Your 1st urge will be to scarf down every bit of that deliciously juicy steak. Which was Served perfectly at medium well with some red in the middle, Maybe even a shade of purple, followed by a pinkish hue after that. I recommend savoring and enjoying every bite!Needlees to say, there was 0% of the steak left when we were done, perhaps some bone and gristle (shout out to all who got the Great Outdoors refey). For the record I am a lover of most stakes, From Outbook on a Thursday night, to a Romanian steak with eggs, on a hungover Friday morning, Heck! take me over to Tads and these Irish eyes are smiling. But this restaurant is something special As full as I was, coffee was offered and accepted, and a few min later and I am looking at the dessert menu. Even when my stomach is full to compacity it's hard, maybe impossible to turn down moose cake. I was further informed that Lugger's are also famous for their heavy whip cream... Let me just say, this aint your mother's Cool-Wwwhip!!! It was fantastic just like the entirety of the meal. The ambiance was just fine.I must say If you're looking for a steak that is top quality, and you just can't bring yourself to make plans a week in advance then this is the place for you! *read but not dictated.... lol
Be the first to ReplyWas an outstanding experience in great neck.
Wonderful waiter who did not have the 8 of us over order anything. He made perfect suggestions on portion sizes and it was more then enough. Wonderful and all delicious. It is a pleasure not to have the old school uptight arrogant German waiters anymore And that's the truth
Be the first to ReplyDined at Peter Luger, on Saturday night 02/11/2023.
We ordered the bacon strip (2) rib steak for one, tomatoes n onions, crabmeat and strudel for desert. We, I were completely dissatisfied with the entire dinner with the exception of the crab meat cocktail n onions and tomatoes. Bacon strips, steak were tough I can't believe they would serve that crap n charge the money they did. This is the second time we got stuck with tough meat and overcooked steak. In addition bake potato we ordered, tho was not available due to their oven issues. I can't emphasize the anger I felt I was robbed without a gun and they got away with it. The food totally sucked I would not visit Peter Luger going forward. Total bill with tips n drink was $280.00. We were robbed.Philip A Parrino
Be the first to ReplyA classic New York steakhouse.
I've been to both the Williamsburg, BK and Great Neck locations, most recently the latter. The atmosphere is old NY rustic decor, the service is attentive. The steaks go with saying... always tasty and cooked to order. Their desserts are good too... and they come with schlag (home made whipped cream). If you're looking for a quality steak (albeit at high prices) this is definitely your place!
Be the first to ReplyBasic food.
Definitely over priced. Wouldn't go back. Broccoli was tasteless. Steak was steak. Amoretto sour was pretty good. It's honestly not worth the hype.
Be the first to Replymy boyfriend and i came here for an anniversary dinner and
my boyfriend and i came here for an anniversary dinner and left unsatisfied with our meal and very angry with the service we made a reservation a week in advance and was told very sternly over the phone that they would only hold our table for 15 minutes before voiding the reservation not only did we get there early, but we waited half an hour while watching other groups who came in after us get seated first we then asked the host kevin how much longer we'd be waiting for, and he said we were up next which was a complete lie as he proceeded to continue to seat other groups before uswe had to ask him a second time 20 minutes after for our table again and that was when he was finally like "oh right this way" and gave us a table amongst many other empty ones with the excuse of wanting to give us a specific table (total wait time to be seated: 1 hour) after finally being seated, we were faced with another excruciating wait for the food to come out and a surprise burp from one of the servers the food was not that warm and was honestly a bit blandwe will not be coming here ever again -- honestly a complete waste of time and money in the end, we would've rather gone to applebees
Be the first to ReplyWent here with a few friends and was seated right away.
We decided to order the Porterhouse (medium cooked) for 3 people and it did not disappoint at all. The steak was absolutely incredible and was cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the better steakhouses I have ever been to. Service was good too. However, we were not impressed with the sides. The creamed spinach lacked taste. We also ordered potatoes as a side as well which was mediocre at best. For dessert - the hot fudge sundae definitely was not as good as advertised.4/5 stars for this place for a phenomenal steak and good service

Great steakhouse - was told there is no bread warmer - bread comes out cold. The waiter was excellent and offered to put it in microwave? Service was excellent, better steakhouses out there for sure but it's a popular place so solid 4 star place, they just don't have warm bread? Come on little things matter

Waiting staff has poor manners, poor at following instructions as well. Some servers are better, but I've ran into more that aren't.

They were racist, they moved everyone noncaucasian to the back. Their receptionist is also a dick head and doesn't talk to people respectfully. Their waiters were pretty great. Their steaks are the most mid steaks I've ever had. Almost no seasoning was added and the dry aging flavor was minimal. We were charged 265 for a steak for 3 which was a lot of steak, but nowhere near how much we paid for. If you've had any experience cooking steak, you'd be better off just buying and cooking it for yourself.

I've been going to Peter Luger's since I was a kid but I've not been to their Great Neck restaurant until this week, and I liked it as much as the Brooklyn location. The service seemed to be a little better, the dining room is more comfortable and ..... well, the bathrooms are certainly in better shape. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides were better this time than on previous visits especially the broccoli.I never had the Sundae before (served with house made whipped cream) and though it was good, a lighter dessert might have been more suitable.I know Peter Luger's has its share of detractors but it's still the quintessential New York steak house.
Be the first to ReplyI called to make reservations for a friend's birthday
I called to make reservations for a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday night. The person on the line was great and also said they'd give us a dessert on the house for my friends birthday. We arrived on time and waited a couple of minutes by the bar till we were seated. We ordered the thick sizzling bacon, steak for 3, lamb chops, onion rings, holy cow hot fudge sundae, and carrot cake to share. The sizzling bacon and lamb chops were the stars of the show. We ordered our steak medium rare but more on the rare side. We ended up getting a steak that was more medium/medium well with some parts well done. The steak had a nice char to it but it wasn't tender or juicy which we attributed to it being over cooked. Definitely not acceptable for a Michelin rated steakhouse. The lamb was cooked a perfect medium rare and didn't have a gamey taste. The onion rings weren't seasoned and had no taste - a hard pass on these. Dessert wise the holy cow fudge sundae was standard and the carrot cake was your traditional carrot cake sans the cream cheese frosting. We ended up getting charged for one of the desserts despite being told it would be on the house - not a big deal. We ended up paying around $420 for 3 people. The service and staff were great, but the steak was really disappointing as it wasn't cooked to the right temperature.
