Jackson Heights Gem
I nearly passed this place a hundred times before being allured in by the amazing smell. Phayul is a great little place in an already amazing area for food.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious spicy beef with chile sauce
I was impressed with their handmade momos ( Nepalese dumplings made right in front of us as we were sitting at the pass) and the spicy beef with chile. I'm usually don't eat (factory farmed) meat but this was an exception. The Pakistani friend with whom I went said he goes there for food at least twice a week - his parents live nearby. I ate in the original third-floor location and was surrounded by Nepalese guests.
I love finding individuals from the countries the international food is based upon eating beside me, especially when the restaurant is dominated by them.
Hidden gem!
This is a total hole in the wall - doesn’t sit a ton of people so you may have to wait in line but wow is it good. Amazing momos!

I visited this gem as part of a Food Tour, or I probably wouldn’t have found it myself or known what to order. (It’s a small informal eatery on the second floor.)
We sampled the traditional Tsak Sha Momos - beef momos and also fried beef momos. We also had a spicy beef tongue dish that was very tasty. The traditional beef momos were outstanding - very juicy and tasty! I preferred them to the fried version but it was fun to try a different style.
Looking forward to returning and sampling more Tibetan dishes!
Best Kept Momo Secret
They have the best momos and then tuk soup I've ever had. So awesome that you can watch them hand make your food with passion and craft! Everything is delicious here. I also love the cozy, off the beaten path setting of the restaurant. It's on the second floor. It is my favorite restaurant in JH!

I was really unsure about this place at first. We were a group of 5. Without looking at the menu I was like "Imma gonna dive in momossss" lol. Anyway, we ordered 2 momo, 1 sausage dish, 1 chicked fried noodles. The sausage came first. It was completely different to say. The taste was ummmmmm, idk, different. Can't say I didn't eat but yeah not what I expected. Moving on to the next dish we had beef dumpling. Big and juicy. I had the first bite and all the juicy flavor just came pouring in my mouth. The best way to enjoy the momo, I would say, would be to bite a little bit and suck in the juice from it. I am in love with the juicy momo. The stuffing was a little dry though and could have been made a lot more better. The fried chicken noodle was the showstopper. It made me go back to my childhood memories where I would eat noodles with my friends.
I think I would go back again and try the food. Maybe not the sausage but YES the dumplings.
Consistent and great every time I have been there
Great find ! Was introduced to this place by a friend sometime back. Always very very good, only one complain, PLEASE GET YOUR AC FIXED before the summer :0)
Cash only place but the food is so good that people don't mind the walk up or the wait. The service is OK, a little inconsistent but the food covers up for it.
Keep up the good work and people will keep coming back for more.
Worth the multiple subway rides to get here!
I've been hearing about this place for a while from friends in Queens and so with a friend went out from NYC to give it a try - and was not disappointed. Its a "low-key" kind of place, up some steep stairs - around the corner from the main subway line. We ordered a spicy cold cucumber salad that was great - maybe a little spicier than what I could normally handle, but still totally great. We shared the hand-cut noodle chicken soup (which was very "earthy" in taste) and went well with the cucumbers - as a spicy hot/cold dish with the not-spicy/hot steamy soup. Because they make everything fresh as it is ordered, our potato vegetable momo's came out toward the end of the meal - but they were excellent. Without a doubt, I will go back, and try other items on the menu. The restaurant was friendly, and allowed us to stay as long as we wanted on a Saturday afternoon.

Best momos I ever had in the united States.... Rest of the food are awesome too, but Momos are much more better especially beef one. They make it fresh right away
Interestingly, the tiny place was always packed with white Ladies and gentlemen some of whom says like they feel as if they are in Nepal....
Visited thrice already and will be visiting again soon.... Recommended totally
