Dollar carlsberg what else can you ask for - awesome vibe, I feel like I can creepily sit in the corner and imagine I'm from Liverpool.
Be the first to ReplyBeer never tasted so good.

The Pilgrim is a great place for cheap drinks and to socialize. It is tucked away on a old cobbled back street and is a little hard to find at first if you don't know what you're looking for, but it's definitely worth finding. The bar has a decent selection of music on their jukebox which costs £1 for three songs (a bargain!) and the £1 Carlsberg bottles and free wifi are always winners in my eyes.
Be the first to ReplyNice little find, down a dark alley.
If it weren't for Yelp, I'd never had found it. Good music (mostly rock and metal), cheap but decent beer and ok food. The Burguer wasn't that big, so don't expect a fulfilling dinner here rather a quick meal just to prep you up for more beer. Free wifi, young atmosphere, cozy and reasonably well kept. Went on a Tuesday night and didn't have much trouble finding a booth. The decor could be a little bit tidier though, but for that price you can definitely ignore the minor details.
Be the first to ReplyI went to this place cause I had read the reviews on Yelp.
The prices of the drinks are awesome, they have a nice entrance with outside tables so you can smoke there. Was raining day, but most part of the people were outside (the entrance/terrace has a roof).Pretty crowdy but full of students, a lot of people for other parts of the world. The kitchen only served breakast and Sunday Roast, so we were starving, and we had to move to other place looking for food. The bartenders were ok, but they were looking really tired so I felt a little bit guilty about order another pint.I didn't notice the music, I was looking for live music, but it seem it wasn't the day...So I think I had a good experience cause I was with my boyfriend and friends.I only recommend this place if you are looking for cheaper beer.
Be the first to ReplyAunique underground (physically, not socially) student bar.
The kind of placeyou might call a 'dive' but not mean anything negative by it.They do cheap food and a few real ales. Had a lovely light hoppy beer calledHop Sack, from the brewer Phoenix.

Hidden away down a side street The Pilgrim has become a firm favourite with students especially those at LIPA or the LJMU Dean Walters building. It is a spit and sawdust type place but full of charm and filled with music and wit. The drinks are cheap and the staff friendly. The long table and booths were a mainstay of my student years with many an end of exam period celebrated here. I've spend many a happy hour in The Pilgrim and hope for many more.
Be the first to ReplyThe Pilgrim is a great bar to go to in the summer.
It is one of the few proper pubs that actually has a beer garden. This means you can sit outside till late at night, with your smoker friends, and put the world to rights. There are large picnic tables to sit on, which can seat a good 10 people at a squeeze, but if there are no tables left there is plenty of standing room, and a nice long wall to sit on for the evening. The worst thing about the Pilgrim, the toilets are really rather minging to say the least. The doors don't lock, and when they do close you can't help but worry that you'll be stuck in there for hours. The sink is dirty too and if you are lucky enough to be there when there is a mirror, it will probably need a good clean. The Pilgrim has a great atmosphere and cheap drinks, its a good place for starting the evening, or bagging a table and spending the whole night there till closing. If you ever need a hangover cure, then give their sunday roast a try. It is inexpensive, yummy and the portions are very generous.

There is actually nothing wrong with student pubs at all, even after your glorious 3-5 studiousyears are over. Cheap and cheerful is the order of the day here and that's fine by me. Now the rustic feel to the place is ratehr a subjective matter, a fine line indeed as some people might not use rustic as a word to explain the decor. None the less as I mentioned before it is a student place and if the punters are rolling in and it ain't broke, why try to fix it. So if you are low on the old money tank and fancy a cheap and cheerful lunch or a drink this is definitely an option for you. If this isn't the case however there are plenty of other places you can take your friends.
