PATTY MELT **Our favorite item - cheesy melty warm with delicious sauce coating the layers between bread. An experience that ended too quickly for me. Even as someone who doesn't like burgers I enjoyed this a lot. So good that I didn't mind the other items fell short. HANGER STEAK - just ok, some fatty pieces, not the juiciest, nice crust on it though. Not a steak person though to be fully honest. BROCCOLI- undercooked unfortunately but had a nice char.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming to Quality Eats for close to two years now.
My fiancée and I celebrated our engagement here, our anniversary, as well as both of our birthdays. It used to be our favorite place to eat.The past few months we have noticed a decline in quality (no pun intended). We used to have great service and the waiters and waitresses were a delight. We visited a few months ago when my cousin was in town. We were celebrating my fiancées birthday. The waitress we had was incredibly rude to us the entire time. It took a while for us to get water refilled and we weren't checked in on at all after receiving our food. It was slow in the restaurant and we were one of three tables there. I assumed it was just an off night since I've been loyal to them so far. That was until we went back last night. We were seated outside which was fine. It didn't matter to much to us, there was a slight breeze but it was one of the nicer, winter evenings in the city. Everything was fine until somebody kept coming over to our table and trying to get food from us. I know this happens in New York quite a bit and we expect it whenever we eat outside. People are hungry out there, don't get me wrong. The way that the staff handled this though was completely inappropriate. The restaurant manager for the night tried to kick her out three times, but at this point we had already started feeling a bit anxious that we've been asked three times for food when we were just trying to enjoy our dinner. Not once did the restaurant manager come to check on us.Once our entrees came to the table, we both lost our appetite. They never once asked us to move inside, they never once checked to see if we needed anything, and when I explained to them that we were uncomfortable they didn't do much to correct it or make it right. Like I said, it happens here and we're used to it. The difference is that every other restaurant this has happened at, we're immediately approached by whoever was handling it to see if we were okay.We weren't. We brought our entire entree home and asked for the check. Going out to a nice dinner isn't something we can do very often. We frequently revisit here since we've shared a lot of nice memories and have never had too bad of experiences. This will be my last time eating at a Quality restaurant. Everything about this situation last night was handled incorrectly and they did nothing to make it right. Do better, Quality.

The patty melt was soo good! Highly recommend getting this if you're in the mood for a sandwich. I only wish it came with fries or a side. The Hanger steak was OK -- wasn't blown away but nothing to complain about either. I guess I was expecting a little more. The broccoli was undercooked but had good char flavor. The service was friendly although we felt a little rushed since we came in an hour before closing. Vibe is cozy.

Ok, the staff - five stars! Cocktails? The lavender one is FIRE! Food? Delicious! Playlist? Fun! Ambiance and fellow patrons? Super nice! Why only four stars? I can't quite put my finger on it...I don't think I'd go above and beyond to travel from the West Side to come here but I'd go if someone was looking for a restaurant on the East side and we needed to eat there too.
Be the first to ReplyIn an area without many great spots for American brunch
In an area without many great spots for American brunch food, Quality Eats is a welcome option. While I do prefer the WV location, this one is almost as good. I recently walked in with a friend on a weekend and it was packed, but we grabbed seats at the bar and ordered:+ Key money cocktail + Baked potato monkey bread bacon egg and cheese+ Patty melt+ Curly fries The fries were the highlight, but everything was tasty. Prices definitely reflect NYC's ridiculous inflation over the past few years, but such is life.
Be the first to ReplyStopped by for restaurant week with a group of friends.
I started off with the tuna tartar which was refreshing. I really enjoyed the thin crispy potatoe chip it was served with. Bacon with peanut butter was also great but a bit heavy. The hangar steak was a nice medium rare and very tender. The curly fries were crispy and reminded me of childhood. For dessert, I had the blood orange sorbet, pretty standard. Overall, a great meal.
Be the first to ReplyLong overdue review.
I thought this place was okay. Started with the tuna tartare and monkey bread. The bread seemed to be the favorite. For the tuna tartare only the sauce that's sprinkled along the side is what makes it spicy. For my meal I had the patty melt. Good but very greasy. For sides, we ordered Brussel sprouts and corn crème brûlée. They were good but portions seemed small.
Be the first to ReplyHit or missCame for restaurant week so I had their three
Hit or missCame for restaurant week so I had their three course dinner while my wife had the patty melt. I started with the bacon app which was very strange to me. It's a PB and J fish with bacon. It was more like sliced ham steak, not quite what I expected. Then, nothing. Something happened and we didn't get our entrees. The server noticed our frustration and apologized and sent out a Brussels sprout appetizer which was the best thing we ate that evening. When our food finally came out my steak was undercooked but had good flavor. My wife's patty melt was a triple decker type sandwich which she didn't care for. We ended with a birthday cake Sunday which was way too sweet and the flavors were off.Service was great, I won't take away from that. The tables were way too close together so it was difficult to get in and out from the table.
Be the first to ReplySat outside at quality eats on a Wednesday night.
The patty melt was very delicious with perfectly crispy toast and two juicy Patties. Wish it came with fries but we ordered a side of the bag brown fries anyways which were solid. I had the peanuts and Cracker Jack old fashioned which was interesting... for me it had way too much going on so I'd stick to the regular old fashioned next time. Monkey bread was a nice way to start the meal.
Be the first to ReplyI would probably give this place 3.
5 stars... we have been meaning to try this restaurant for awhile. We came on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Speaking of packed... they literally squeeze you into tables right next to others. I know I know this happens a lot in the city, but this felt tighter than usual...We started with the pbj bacon. It's more of a ham steak or pork belly. I wasn't a fan. They then forgot our order in the kitchen so they brought out some comp Brussels sprouts. This dish was actually the highlight. Really tasty. I have the patty melt... it's not a traditional melt and has some aioli on it that I didn't love. Lastly we had the birthday cake sundae. It was cute but bland taste. It seems like everything just tastes ok and is more focused on being trendy. Not a terrible meal but I don't think I'd go back.

This place is pretty good! I enjoyed the spicy tuna tartar and the short rib hash was ok. We also got cocktails but they weren't that great, the flavor combos didn't work well and may be a tad watered down
Be the first to ReplyReally relaxing experience Sunday nite.
Bavette and hanger steaks were perfectly cooked and came with excellent layer of char on the outside. Noise level allowed comfortable conversation without screaming--Something rare nowadays! Drinks were delicious.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
Have to get the monkey bread! Hummus and birthday cake dessert were also delicious. Drinks are expensive, but it is Manhattan so $17/drink isn't crazy I guess
Be the first to ReplyMy second visit here was much better than my first.
We are outdoors in an enclosed booth. It was heated but enclosed with curtains on its entrance, allowing for adequate warmth and good air circulation in 45° temperature. Cocktails were good and potent. We shared a appropriately gooey artichoke Mac and cheese to start. I had a properly cooked, above average quality NY strip steak. The accompanying salad was very good. My wife liked her branzino a lot. Our friends liked the steak salad and the salmon. A shared order of curly fries killed it. We ended the meal with a solid interpretation of sticky toffee pudding. Nice meal, more options and less expensive than a traditional steak house.

Always looked good when I passed by and finally got to enjoy on a beautiful, sunny spring day. Drinks were solid and food was solid. Prices are the usual for NYC.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely horrific treatment by owner and hostess.
..husband and myself were looking for a place to have a drink with our 5 month old granddaughter , order food to take home. Restaurant was empty, plenty of ways they could have accommodated our request. There was a man and his dog seated where we asked to be seated... we were told we could sit at the bar...there was zero space to put our granddaughters stroller... so disappointing in these times when we're so happy to get out again, and be treated like second class citizens...I recommend you run don't walk away from this incredibly terrible establishment

Gave this place another shot and it was a much better experience. Started with the tuna tar tar...portion was a bit small but it was very tasty. Had the Mac and cheese app, it was only fair. Had the bacon and jalapeño jelly. Am unusual combination of bacon, jalapeño and peanut butter...it was pretty good. My gf just had a Cesar salad and liked it. The hero of the meal was the sirloin strip I had for the main. Cooked a perfect medium rare and very flavorful. I bit over priced but worth it in the end.
Be the first to ReplyThis was one of the worst meals I've had in a while.
Where to start? Ordered scrambled eggs-they brought out an omelette. Ordered medium well steak- came out rare. To top it off, one of the dishes came served with a hair cooked in. And no, they did not comp the meal. Yikes!
Be the first to ReplyCame back to the restaurant in February with my partner.
We came on early Saturday night for a nice meal. All of our food was delicious and they do have some unique options.Appetizer: tuna tartare was really great. We love tuna tartare. Every restaurant that offers tuna tartare, we always order it. This tuna tartare was excellent; as good or better than any we have had. We also had blackened brussel sprouts, which was a great starter as well. We also had the burrata, and that was very good too. My partner is not a fan of burrata generally, but he actually loved this one. My favorite part was the homemade marmalade that they serve with the burrata.Main: For the main course, we had octopus and sirloin stake. The octopus had a very generous portion, definitely enough for an entree. Potatoes were delicious. Steak meal was good as well. Very well cooked.Dessert: we got the birthday cake sundae. If you are into birthday cake flavor, this is for you. My partner couldn't get enough of it.Drinks selection was pretty reasonable, not too large like in some places. Noise level was average, could hear each other pretty good. Service was friendly and pleasant. Bathrooms were clean. The last time I visited they had an issue with the bathrooms, but this time they were clean and smelled nice. Overall it was a great experience and would recommend it highly to others.
Be the first to ReplyWent for restaurant week and sat in the cabin.
Was super chilly day, could have used a lap blanket. But the space warmed up quite nicely (not like being indoors, we kept our coats and hats on, but nice covid safety measure).Had a nice bottle of Malbec. Several of us got the bavette steak which they cooked successfully to order with one asking for medium rare, one for medium and one for medium well. I was impressed! The bacon app was really interesting and tasty and filling!A fun evening, the cabin was on a quiet street and it was nice to see snowflakes falling in the headlights of the few cars which drove past. One thing though, I don't think there were pylons protecting the cabins from cars so that felt a tiny unsafe. Would have been nice if the velvet curtains were double faced so that the velvet showed on the interior. The velvet was on the outside and the diners have to look at the lining, which isn't so pretty.Bluetooth speaker inside the cabin was a nice touch!
Be the first to ReplyGreat joint with a cozy neighborhood vibe.
Quality Eats feels casual enough for a laid back, low-pressure dinner that also delivers. Hadn't even realized they were offering a restaurant week dinner deal, but even without it, the steak on the menu is an incredible value. For $29, the Bavette is a truly great deal -- the meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the generous side of curly fries went perfectly. Can't wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyAntonella is the bad ass bitch we all need in our life.
She's the sweetest waitress I've ever had. So friendly but not in an over bearing way. The bacon with peanut and jalapeño jelly was life changing. Tbh I didn't even know what to expect nor did I get what I thought it would be. But holy shit that bacon fuck me up slap me across the face with that bacon slab I'm in love. I would do unspeakable things for more of that bacon. The patty melt was also disgustingly delicious. It's a bit pricey but it's also NYC during end stage capitalism so yolo. Would go back for sure. Not the place you need to go if visiting NYC. It is just the UES so let's not get crazy.
Be the first to ReplyI really want to like this place.
It has a fun vibe and looks like a lot of fun. The food is good as are the drinks. The issue is a place charging $17 for a cocktail needs to bring the goods at a higher level. This is more of a glorified diner. Nice concept, but take it up a notch if you want to charge these prices. The neighborhood would love it.
Be the first to ReplyMy fiance and I had a 7:30 PM reservation at Quality Eats
My fiance and I had a 7:30 PM reservation at Quality Eats on December 25. We arrived at the restaurant shortly before 7:30. The restaurant was busy, but not full. When we opened the front door, we observed a young woman (who we would later learn was the host) carrying a chair from one part of seating area to another. I initiated the conversation once she returned to the host station. I gave her my name and told her that we had a reservation. She looked up the reservation, then stated that she needed to double check that the table was ready. She returned less than a minute later and brought us to our table. When we got to the table, she handed us menus, then told us to enjoy the meal before walking away.About 5 minutes later, a gentleman approached the table without announcing himself announcing or welcoming us to the restaurant. He had a pitcher of water in his hands and asked us if tap water was okay, which we said was fine. He poured the water, then walked away without asking us if we wanted a drink. We continued to review the menu before he returned again to ask if we wanted a drink. It was at that time I asked if him if he was our server, to which he replied, "Yes". I ordered a Titos dirty martini and my fiance ordered the festivus cup cocktail. The server returned less than 5 minutes later, quietly announced our drinks, then placed on them on the table. He then asked us if we were ready to order. I asked him if the solo entrees came without a side and he said yes. I ordered the salmon with broccoli as my side and my fiance ordered the lemon-charred chicken with the cacio e pepe orzo as his side. The server asked me how I wanted my salmon cooked. I replied, "However, the kitchen recommends that it be served". The server then walked away. The server returned about one minute later to inform me that the kitchen was out of the broccoli side. He suggested the brussels sprouts as an alternative, which I agreed to.About 10-15 minutes after we placed our order, a runner delivered our food to the table. The server checked back soon after the food was delivered to see how everything was. I told him that everything was fine, but that we'd likely want to order a glass of wine at some point soon. The server walked away.About 7-10 minutes later as we were nearing the end of our meal and sides, we wanted to order a glass of wine. I observed our server dealing with other tables, but eventually got his attention to come back to our table. We then proceeded to order two glasses of the Verdicchio wine. He returned a couple minutes later with the wine. After we finished our wine, I once again had to signal to the server that we needed his attention. When he came back to the table, I handed him my credit card and asked him for the check. He returned about one minute later with the check, placed it on the table and said, "Thank you". I signed the check, then my guest and I proceeded to leave the restaurant. As we left the restaurant, the host was at the host stand. She did not extend a thank you or any parting words to either of us.FoodOverall, the entrees were fine, with the chicken taking first place. There was a plentiful amount of juicy charred chicken on the plate, surrounded by fingerling potatoes. The temperature was warm. My fiance enjoyed his entree and shared some with me. My salmon entree was fine. It wasn't bad, nor was it amazing. The salmon was served medium well. The salmon was a plentiful portion. The temperature was warm, although I would have preferred it to be served hotter. The baby bok choy was okay, but the portion was extremely small and the temperature was lukewarm. The salmon and bok choy was topped with a garlic sauce. For $31, the dish did not impress me. Our sides were disappointing. We both agreed that the brussels sprouts could have used an extra few minutes in the oven or fryer. Some of the sprouts were very tender, while others still had a crunch and tasted raw. When they arrived at the table, they were warm (not hot). The cacio e Pepe orzo was served in small circular ramekin. Overall, it was okay. Having enjoyed traditional cacio e pepe numerous times, this missed the marked on flavor. We both agreed that $10 seemed quite steep for a small portion of orzo pasta with cheese and some pepper.DrinksThe titos dirty martini was good. It was served with extra olives as requested. I did not try the festivus cup, but my guest said that he enjoyed it. We both enjoyed our wine. It was a regular pour served in a clean wine glass. The temperature of the wine was cool.ServiceOverall, I felt let down with the service for the price point. From the moment we walked in the door (no greeting) to the time we left (no thank you), the service was just okay. Maybe the restaurant was understaffed or employees just didn't want to be working on Christmas Day. Either way, I expected more for a $150+ dinner for two. We will not return.
Be the first to ReplyThe pancakes are bomb.
The staff is nice...otherwise....I would skip brunch and go here for dinner instead.
