This is a Michelin star restaurant that we booked weeks in advance. But when we arrived the host informed us we had no reservation. He was really rude, bizarrely severe, and told us to leave. Frankly, the place is quite small and it was an embarrassing scene in front of the other patrons. We showed him the email confirmation on our phone, but he was unmoved. We were not in the system and had to leave. Outside we were dumbfounded. Why were we treated like that? Like we were a**holes for being there. It was so confrontational, and we could only respond with stunned silence. Then my husband remembered we'd received a text just a few hours earlier confirming our reservation. So he went back in and showed the host the text. AGAIN the host told us to leave. Now there were new reasons. Now we were accused of not securing our seats with a credit card. And we were not in the system. We had no booking.Outside my husband then remembered that he'd secured the reservation with a credit card, and we'd be charged a fee if we failed to dine. So he went back in for a third time. He's pretty soft spoken, but he was firm: we had a booking. They'd charged our card. The host looked in his computer again, and this time he found our reservation. He acted like it was a simple misunderstanding. We were finally seated, and after so much drama I thought someone would come over and apologize at the table. That never happened. In fact, we were ignored for at least ten minutes. It's too bad. The food was good, and after dinner we had a nice conversation with the chef/owner. We never told him about the problems at the front of the house. This is a very expensive restaurant, even by Paris standards. The experience should be positive. We felt abused.
