Humiliated
Culinarily recommended. And I visit that restaurant every time I stay in Malaga. Now, the truth is, I might look a bit shabby. For example, I don't wear a Rollex watch because I don't attach any importance to it and my clothes are clean but very ordinary. So when I asked for a table on Saturday March 16, the waiter said 'full'. When I asked when I could make a reservation for the following week, there was suddenly room. When I went to the toilet during lunch (twice) I was always followed by someone from the staff as if I was a free agent who would leave without paying. I found that humiliating and I will never come back. BTW I paid the bill (250€) in cash without saying goodbye.

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the negative reviews, which ultimately I don't understand at all. For my part it was a great experience, flavors, finesse, very balanced dishes, refined presentations, everything was there to have a wonderful time. A warm welcome in a very beautiful and original room. A very good value for money I will come back with pleasure

Invited by my wife, I formed an opinion without having seen the different opinions. After reading some, I wonder if we dined in the same establishment. We have been accustomed to Michelin-starred restaurants for 25 years. We are welcomed through the kitchens, then we enter a spacious room, mixing modern and green walls. Warm and discreet welcome despite the language difference. Then the tasting menu meal at 130 euros for more than 9 superbly balanced courses. Sometimes culinary paths lack balance and the end of meals is heavy. Chef Garcia offers a surprising menu, original and full of finesse. Unbeatable value for money and a very pleasant exchange (in the exchange there must be 2 people with an open mind) I recommend without moderation

Third time we eat there, beautiful, food 10/10, service 10/10, interior several years old and still contemporary, top top top!!!

Found this restaurant quite by accident as we were walking around and decided to make a reservation. We went with the food with wine pairing and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyA not to miss food experience in Malaga
This beautiful serene place with a panoramic view of Malaga harbour front and iconic skyline of hill castles serves a 10 or 14 course tasting menu with option of wine pairings. Each gorgeously presented morsel is a surprise for the senses and the wine pairings are thoughtful and delicious and the descriptions of all the food and wine are charmingly shared by pleasant and expert people. This was the highlight of our trip to the south of Spain. BOOK AHEAD ONLINE DIRECTLY WITH THE RESTAURANT WEBSITE— DO NOT USE MARBELLA LIFESTYLES— the restaurant had no record of our booking done 3 months prior!!!
Be the first to ReplyWhen will you get your second star mister Garcia ? You deserve it
What a great Chef mister José Garcia; it looks like all great Spanish chefs have the name Garcia. We had one of the best experiences ever in 20 years in Spain this evening even compared to 3stars and 2stars we visited before. I must say the price is higher than some 2 stars in Spain and even compared with the very expensive kitchen in Belgium it is not cheap, but they are worth the price. Each dish was simply perfect with a concentration of tastes and aroma's that overwelms you. We choose the smaller menu and decided not to pair wines but to order a very aromatic Verdejo and a firm St Roman Toro 2019. Although the last one still pretty hard and too young it matched fine with the Iberian sirloin, the porra-radish and the truffed king prawn-foie gras ravioli. The 11 mini dishes made together a perfect diner and we left with a very happy feeling, enforced by the beautiful interior of the restaurant. You will see us back mister Garcia and your friendly team.

Great location and very cool restaurant. We found the service very good and attentive, also thought the wine list for a Michelin star pretty good and had a nice bottle of PSI. Unfortunately the food was a bit hit and miss some dishes lacking flavour and we had to ask what the green gel was on the plate as it was tasteless which did cause a little consternation. Just no longer expect a piece of meat to be water bathed very old hat. It’s a bit like Michelin 10 years ago In London but less flavours and not exactly exciting for the money.

Very professional customer service, food was exellent. Nice little suprice cake for birthday without asking, definetly coming again.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful dining experience although service is a little 'frosty' !
I have historic mixed experiences with this restaurant but have recently heard some great feedback and decided to give it another go. I was not disappointed. The extended taster menu with wine pairings was exceptional. Dishes are extremely well presented. My only slight downside was that the staff were on the frosty side of professional.

If you want to fine dine, this is the place to visit. They won't fill you up with food but then again, you're in Spain. You should go get some tapas beforehand anyway. :)

This was hands down the best dining experience my wife and I along with my mother and father in law have experienced. Not a single dish was anything but perfection!! The service was outstanding and the wine pairings were inspired!!! Cannot recommend this enough. If you can afford to, get the expanded tasting menu, it is SO worth it!!
Be the first to ReplyThese guys deserve a second Michelin Star! ⭐️⭐️
My wife and I indulge ourselves a few times per year by visiting a Michelin Star restaurant. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. As you walk in the decor and interior are absolutely stunning! Location is awesome as well! we selected the shorter courses, but added the wine pairing. Splendid! Since it was relatively quiet the service was amazing and contributes to the experience. The food was so creative, daring and still true to Spanish cuisine. See pictures. Highly recommend! 🥂

We had an amazing experience! After reading some of the reviewes I was a bit worried, but the food was exquisite, well paired with wine and very tasty. I don't eat meat, but I was offered an alternative to meat dishes without no issues whatsoever. The service was perfect, friendly and I would definitely recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyGreat service. Great food. Great drinks pairing. Great time.
Stunning! Attentive service, fabulous food; and a drinks pairing to die for - that extends beyond wine to cocktails, port and sherry. What's not to like. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic evening and great drinks pairing
Great food celebrating local ingredients with a wonderful pairing of drinks (not all wines, but that made it better). Had read about the open kitchen, so disappointed not to be able to see the food being prepared from the dining room. The waiting staff also didn't have the best English - though it is infinitely better than my Spanish - combined with not being able to see the kitchen we felt quite distant from the should of the restaurant. That all said, the food was creative and excellent for a 1 star and we had a fantastic evening.

We made an online reservation to have dinner at JCG. Since we didn’t receive a confirmation by email we called to make sure we could have a table. We spoke to three staff members on the phone, because the first two did not speak English. My Spanish isn’t very good to be honest. Despite this, we were able to confirm our reservation by phone. On the evening itself we did not get a table because our reservation wasn’t listed?! The staffmember at the door was kind of rude about it and even interrupted me while explanation. Because of this lack of service I do not feel like to try and eat here again. I won’t spent that much money to be treated this rude. It’s a shame!
Be the first to ReplyCome on, this is meant to be fun!
On a recent mini break to Malaga decided to splash out the best part of £400 on a meal to celebrate our anniversary. We chose the standard tasting menu with wine pairing. Nearly all the courses (lost count how many we had) were delicious and all beautifully prepared and explained well. But have to say the evening could have been a bit more enjoyable if waiting staff had been a little bit more welcoming - when you are celebrating a special occasion and spending a good chunk of your holiday budget on one meal it makes a difference if the waiting staff help by making you feel a bit special. I know its difficult with masks on but it felt quite oppressive, and we skipped coffee so we could get out of there. Great food, super wine but shame about the atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice lunch
Based on the incredibly polarised reviews on here we really didn't know what to expect from our visit to Restaurant JCG but I'm happy to say we had a lovely meal. We went for the soft menu with a bottle of wine rather than the pairing and, for a Michelin starred restaurant it was reasonably good value.
We really enjoyed our meal, with our favourite dishes being the seafood trio and the ajoblanco soup, which was delicious. Service was fine. Explanations of dishes perhaps not as detailed as some places we've been but that's a very minor criticism, and as locations go for restaurants this one took some beating.
Very enjoyable lunch and if I were ever in the Málaga area again I'd happily return.
Must go
Location: Great
Service: very friendly and competent
Food: OUTSTANDING, worth coming. Creative and cooked to perfection.
