My husband and I decided to visit Rey's for the first
My husband and I decided to visit Rey's for the first time Saturday night. We were able to get a reservation quite easily two days before, maybe this should have been a hint. The atmosphere is pretty, but not classy. They sat us right by the swinging kitchen door, which OK sometimes does happen. Everything is à la carte which means for $50 you get a Ribeye steak and nothing else. We also had a greasy, floating in butter, chicken marsala. Our Caesar salad taste like mustard ,what happened to the anchovies and this also was an extra $10. The worst was the $10 potatoes au gratin which were basically old potatoes pieces with a piece of American cheese on top.So would I recommend this restaurant, definitely not. We all know there are much better steakhouses in Raleigh!

Rey's has slipped. On Saturday, February 4th, my wife and I had a dinner here. Some diners were there wearing baseball caps turned backwards, many diners with only t-shirts and other logo shirts. They dampened the atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant. This is not the Rey's I always liked. There was even a child crawling on the floor...management did not seem to care. Thankfully, the food was as I always remembered and enjoyed. I realize times were difficult during Covid. But I wish Rey's would have a dress code. The restaurant deserves better than this from the dining public. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplySo in all fairness, I would give this place a 3.
5 bc it was slightly above average in my opinion. We had a reservation at 7:30 this evening and was pleasantly surprised when they were able to seat myself and friend a little over 30 minutes prior to our scheduled time. The space was nice. Our server Paul, was ok. The bottle of moscato that we ordered was good. I ordered the shrimp bisque and that was really good! Both my friend and I ordered 10oz filet and honestly, it was just ok. I ordered it medium and it came out a little over done for me. It was disappointing that it was t served with any au ju. For sides, the au gratin potatoes and green beans with almonds, neither of which did much for me. I felt like the potato's were flavorless and the beans were very greasy. The bread pudding that was ordered for dessert certainly ended the meal on a high note-it was sooooooo good! This was not my favorite steakhouse or my least favorite, but I won't be in any rush to return. I thought the pricing for the quality was too high as well.

Reys lives up to the hype! Unlike most other mediocre restaurants in the Trangle. If you're going out to eat, you want your food & experience to be as close to perfect at possible. Reys delivers. I had a wonderful Chicken Marsala with Lobster Mac & Cheese. There were huge pieces of real lobster -- so delicious. Prices were on par with other places where the food is not nearly as good. I highly recommend.

Ambience was amazing with modern clean look to a highly rated restaurant. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout our dinner. I unfortunately will not return for the price of everything on the menu is absolutely ridiculous but even more so was the quality of the meal. I went with a group of 4. My meal specifically was suppose to be the ribeye with lobster Mac and cheese. Two others at the table also got ribeyes. When my meal was served the meat I got was burnt ( charred black) tough and wasn't the ribeye but a Strip Steak. It looked nothing like ribeye and nothing like the other two ribeyes on the table. The absolute worse steak I've ever had. My Mac and cheese was over cooked ( dry and mostly burnt on the bottom of the oven dish. I've been to many different restaurants with many different qualities and atmospheres but if you are going to charge 5 times the price for the meal you are serving it better look and taste like it... I've had better steak and food presentation at Longhorn or even better The Peddler Steakhouse in Raleigh. Ill pass on returning to Rey's but hope the next person has a better experience.
Be the first to ReplyThe best thing about this place were the entrees.
The chefs can cook; the star is for them. The sides however, were disappointing, especially at $10 each. To save money, diners should stop at Walmart on the way to Rey's, buy a bag of broccoli , and empty it on to a bowl on the table. This would replace the steamed broccoli side, which had no suggestion of flavor or being cooked. In addition, the service was sporadic and the waitstaff not particularly friendly- dinner was served practically on top of the appetizers after our table had waited 20 minutes to be recognized after seating. The restaurant interior reminded us of a cheesy 80's movie and the restrooms are in need of a complete renovation. Rey's has built a reputation in the Triangle for a number of years, but from our experience, it is in decline. The service, food, ambience and sanitation cannot justify the price point.

Highly recommend this restaurant!! Took my girlfriend here for her birthday they have the best food I've had from a restaurant in a long time. I hope this place never changed what they do, our server was also great, we enjoyed his advice, attitude and personality.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely good food, and extremely good prices.
Truly one of the best steakhouses in the area. Our family had not been to Rey's in many years, and we now intend to come back often. Love the breads, main dishes, and desserts. Delicious!

Went to Rey's for the first time tonight and it was a wonderful experience. Atmosphere was warm and friendly, food was on point and our server, Adrian, was awesome. We tried gumbo, shrimp bisque, caprese salad, grilled Brie, carpaccio, filet and bone in ribeye. All were delicious and highly recommended. We also had various desserts which were all perfection. Only thing ordered that was just ok was the pork chops. I was expecting more for that dish but still giving a 5 based on all other meals and service. Adrian went above and beyond to ensure our experience was exceptional.

I had my first opportunity to try Rey's Restaurant for a holiday dinner with coworkers. I was impressed as soon as we arrived. The parking lot was full, but free valet parking was available. A coat check was also conveniently available at the entrance. Our party was accommodated at a large table. Sometimes we needed to remind the server of a drink order, but it was a busy night and the service was friendly. The decor was traditional and classy. The food was all very delicious. I would return for a special occasion meal or date night.
