Ristorante Da Adolfo Di Bella Sergio Laurito Reviews
Cancellation policy an absolute joke
We booked a lunch reservation before leaving the UK and paid the 30 euro per person deposit but decided to cancel our booking when we heard we couldn't leave the restaurant until the allotted time. You can't cancel via email even though you get an automated reply and they never answer their phone! How are you supposed to cancel a booking and get the deposit refunded if it's impossible to contact the restaurant.
A must visit amazing, great vibe great staff, watch out for the lizards sneaking in your bag
This was just the best recommendation we’ve had in a long time Make sure you book in advance From the cool pick up in a boat from positano to the simple but effective flavours cooked perfectly The staff are great, they have a laugh and take the mick and the owners were fantastic and chatty Would eat here every day if I could
Great Experience
A great day out - booked late so missed out on a beach lounge, but did not spoil the experience. Picked up from the main pier and deposited back at no charge and the prices were reasonable. Staff were fantastic, arranged a little cake for our friends birthday. You share the beach with a few non restaurant guests, but no problems there.
You get what you pay for
You get what you pay for, a free boat taxi over and back, obviously you are then caught in the honey trap, the staff were terrible food was mediocre We were first in restaurant only to be last served, no apology, missed the special as sold out, and at ever opportunity felt like you were not wanted, umbrellas taken away at a whim in restaurant and on beach chairs, Fine if this is what you expect , Very disappointed as it was recommended by a local 🥺
Wonderful - don’t think twice - just do it!
Fantastic experience and fantastic food - you should do this! Booking on line was simple. All instructions and directions were clear and easy to follow. Dedicated boat pick up from main quay in Positano from 10:00 until 13:00, very easy to locate. Menu is great and the food wonderful. Despite its location the food, and drinks, are excellent value for money. All of the staff were wonderful. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Don’t just go for lunch, make lunch an excuse for a fabulous experience.
Glad we braved the stairs to experience this special spot
Due to rough seas, the water taxi was cancelled the day of our reservation, but after some deliberation we decided to taxi to the San Pietro hotel (I believe that's the name) and walk down from the path that begins at the hotel's parking lot. Despite the very high tide we were able to use lounge chairs, alongside four other adventuresome souls who decided to make the trek down. We were most excited about having a special slice of beach away from crowds, but wound up being wowed by our delicious lunch and excellent local wine. The staff was very friendly and kept us laughing. I expect our experience was very different than what it would be on a calm day during the high season (which probably feels like one big party) but it was still a highlight of our trip.

First time back to Da Adolfo since the Pandemic and it is better than ever. If you in Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast, be sure to come here. Reservations are essential. You will have a wonderful meal and a great time.
Loved this place and the crazy old men
Thought that I would weigh in to provide a review of Da Adolfo which people seem either to love or hate, we loved it. We went to Da Adolpho on the recommendation of our daughter who said that we had to go to this beach restaurant run by a load of crazy old men … We booked ahead through our hotel, got on a 10.30 “red fish” boat at the jetty (no list there) and headed for Da Adolfo, lovely driver on the boat, got off at the beach to find that despite the booking, confirmed by our hotel, we were not on the list for sunloungers, let alone lunch! However a little patience and good manners and the beach guy found us two sunlongers and confirmed a one o’clock table. Had a lovely swim, in the sea, two hours people watching from a sun lounger, some spritz, before summoned to lunch. If you love organized chaos, eclectic service, and fantastic fish cooked in an Italian style, this is the place for you. If you like sterile, formal, organised, high end dining go somewhere else. We had squid and courgette spaghetti, tuna carpaccio, sea bass for two, and a portion of tiramisu which could have fed four people, washed down with a very enjoyable Provence rose, for Euro 130. For the record, two loungers cost us Euro 25 and the boat trip too and from the beach was free. A couple more hours on the beach, another swim, then a boat trip back to Positano with a group of people laughing and smiling. Unusualy for me, I tipped generously, to us the day was memorable, life affirming and happy. My top tips would be to do your best to double confirm that you have a booking, your hotel might not like this since Da Adolpho is notorious for not answering their phone, I guess because they really don’t need to answer it, and they would still sell out. Also, you need to book sunloungers as well as dinner, it really is not a first come first served policy as might be suggested on this forum.
Most overrated restaurant in the Amalfi Coast, and that's quite an accomplishment.
Food is not even average and the owners have no manners. If you want to eat by the beach they have a great place, but there are so many even prettier restaurants in the area. Pay like a Michelin star restaurant, eat like a €20 per person buffet.
super experience!!
the best food in the world. the service was perfect! the atmosphere and the place is one of the best in the whole world!!!!
Overated.
We asked for a wine list and the server started listing wines. Rushed is an understatement. The tuna tartare special was fishy and inedible. It’s overcrowded and a beach atmosphere. Literally a sand rock Dirty spot. Don’t waste your time.
Read below to have the best possible experience!
The reviews for Da Adolfo are mixed and made me worried about my experience, but I can say that it is worth visiting for lunch if you can. Their food is delicious (best sea bass I have ever had) and the views are beautiful. That being said there are a few nuances that explain the negative reviews. Read below to make sure you have the best experience: - Have your hotel book for you (they do not answer the phone) Lunch starts at 1pm for everybody. - You will get picked up for your reservation on the Positano ferry dock (the boat comes every ~30 minutes) - If you want to spend the full day there book the beach chairs and lunch - If you'd rather just stay for lunch, know that you will have to stay there from 1-4pm as Da Adolfo's free boats back do not start until 4pm. We opted to do a 2 hour lunch and called a water taxi to pick us up when we were finished (especially if you don't have a beach chair, you will have to sit in the sun or remain at your lunch table until 4pm) We had a lovely experience, and will have an even better experience next time knowing the above! Worth it 100%!

The bartender behaved as if it was an inconvenience to serve the guests or answer any questions. You might order seafood for a main dish but expect an arrogant attitude as a side. If I wanted attitude, I would have gone to France or Germany. Dude was miserable, which is hard to believe with such a beautiful ambiance and view. Can't imagine having that pathetic of an attitude. Food might be good, but definitely not worth dealing with the staff.
disappointing waste of time.
first of all, the only way to get there is by boat. sounds like a scenic ride right? wrong. at the pier tons of people gathered around to get on a tiny boat from the restaurant. I got there half an hour before the scheduled boat pick up and still people shoved infront of me and my family. the boat captain would only let on my mother and sister. when i finally got on, they would not let my father and brother on board. Once we asked them many times to let them on, they proceeded to tell us that another boat would soon arrive to pick them up. this was not the case. while the boat arrive later, it arrived to the other side of that pier so that people who were not waiting. could skip the line and take the place of those patiently waiting for up to hours before them in sweltering heat. eventually, my father and brother gave up on the water way transportation and ate at one of the many other restaurants in Positano. After hearing this my family that was at the restaurant asked to leave and were told that the restaurant boat would no longer take us back to reunite with the rest of our family. Finally, we were told we could pay for a water taxi, or hike the 400 stairs back up to the main road, and then walk 2 miles to our hotel. we left, however, with no regret because of the disgraceful service, and very limited menu containing only a couple of variations of spaghetti. I suggest to skip this one!
