Hole in the wall Italian joint in Apopka.
I was assured that this would be reminiscent of home cooked meals my Dad used to make. We went on Valentines day so I must forgive the service which was abysmal. I get it, they were busy. I am not sure if that forgives the 15 minute wait to order drinks, but we'll go with it. The biggest complaint was that the food was... so so. Not bad, but not great either. I had the Chicken limone. It was Ok, but the pasta that it came with was flavorless. The pasta was sitting in about an inch of water. This is from not straining the pasta properly. The sauce they put on top was decent, but it was very runny and again there was not nearly enough of it. The house wine was SURPRISINGLY good, and my friend had the tirimisu and it looked divine, I didn't have any but she raved about it. In my opinion this place charges MUCH to much for the area and the food. If the plates were in the $8 - $15 category instead of the $18 - $25 it would have been much more acceptable. All in all it was a decent place, but I don't know that I would go back there on my own.

When you walk into 'Mama' Roma's in Apopka you feel like you are walking into the home of a true Italian. I've never had a meal I did not like, or a server who did a poor job at Roma's. While I have been here many times, one of my fondest memories of this restaurant was a birthday party I attended with approximately ten guests. We laughed, ate, and drank plenty of wine. Mama herself came over and told us that this is what she loves to hear in her restaurant! An Apopka must!

Probably my favorite place to eat in Apopka, and in the running for my favorite Italian in the metro Orlando area. Don't expect an extensive menu. These are simple, home made pasta dishes and high-quality nightly meat or fish specials. My personal favorite is the ravioli with meat sauce. The fettucini alfredo is also excellent, but very filling. Personally, I think the portions are ample and can easily be stretched in to two meals. Oh, don't skip the bread before the meal - it's excellent. I hope the owners decide to keep Roma open. So far, the plans to close are on hiatus.

I grew up with an Italian grandmother and this is as close as it gets. I love this place and my family has been going there for close to 30 years. Don't order the cheese bread because you won't be able to stop eating it. When we ask my son in college what he would like us to bring him its always Roma's cheese bread. I never have anything but the spaghetti but I am sure its all great.

Although my portion was quite small for the price (I had the Italian combo) my companion was satisfied with the size and value of his meal. Although mine was small for the price, the flavor was very good. A small, unassuming hole-in-the-wall type place where the grandmother walked by several times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
