Get the Lamb Shank Nihari
Everything we ate was just sublime. The tandoori octopus was perfectly cooed and came with a coconut sauce. I ordered the Lamb Shank for my main, if I wasnโt so aware of being in an upscale restaurant Iโd be sucking the bone marrow too. The table next to ours ordered a Kulcha to start with, not sure what kind, but it looked delicious. Our server Ashutosh was attentive and friendly. He made our evening special and is an asset to the restaurant. I would highly recommend dining here for a special occasion or just visiting San Francisco, one of the best restaurants the city has to offer.

Best Indian food ever tasted. Great vibe, exquisite cuisine, wonderful service. Our server Pooja did a great job of picking and suggesting the dishes for us to try. She was awesome overall. It was my husbands birthday and she did a nice job of making it special for us. Perfect date night
Be the first to ReplyPretentious & Overpriced
We came here based on TA reviews but we will say they were not supported by our experience. Our table wobbled like crazy and then we got moved and that was ok. Yet the server admitted they knew the problem already existedโฆ.so why seat anyone there? The host was unwelcoming and very distracted. The first appetizer - baked puff pastry with cheese - was nice. But $20 for essentially two empanadas? Por favorโฆ. The second appetizer - the shrimp - came out very overcooked. We sent that back, second time was better. Yet $20 for 4 shrimp? Feels very over-priced only because the food was mediocre. Main course - butter chicken - which is $30 and does not include rice or naanโฆ.very bland and uninspired. Candidly this tasted like tomato soup with chicken. And cilantro on top?? Had to force this down as we were so hungry. Cocktails were nice but we have experienced much better for far less $$, so again, meh. We left paying $150 including tip and honestly are contemplating Shake Shack. Beautiful interior space, just not a great kitchen. Service was ok but again when you are charging prices like Rooh, it should be top notch. That it was not. Not one time did anyone really check in with us on our experience. Even when we left, the host decided to ear his dinner at the bar. Just not ok on so many levels. I predict this place goes bust anytime soon. You canโt survive on unassuming visitors from out of town foreverโฆ.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, not cheap!
Food was great! Some of the best black dal I've ever had. Place is definitely not cheap, so please don't expect that coming in. The drinks were great and I wish I had room to try the desserts! The only thing that could use improvement was the naan/bread.
Be the first to ReplyDesk food with a twist
Out f the world Indian delicacies with a twist. Appeals to the palette on a foreign land. Be sure to get in early as the kitchen closes early.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place
I accidentally saw a short video on envibe about ROOH and really wanted to go to this place. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the restaurant and the serving of dishes. I will definitely come again
Be the first to ReplySophisticated Indian fusion
Modern Indian fusion spot in SoMA. Came here with three other friends after landing in SFO. Reservations accepted. They accept credit cards. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Restrooms are available in the far right hand side of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice and the busboy came by frequently to fill our waters. The puffs were tasty and come in 6. The jackfruit tacos were actually heavier than youโd think and come in two. The potato puff was buried underneath various sauces and had more of a pancake texture than I thought. The butter chicken was nondescript. The lamb pappafry was a bit on the saltier side so I would suggest having the saffron rice on the side. The garlic naan couldโve had more garlic but it was good for scooping up the leftover sauces.

We booked for 8pm but wanted to sit early, we called to request & we got a call confirming our request. We were seated within a few minutes of reaching. Very prompt & courteous service. We ordered & by the time we sanitised our hands, the starters were at the table. The Dahi Chaat disappeared in no time, didnโt know where the hot, steaming Chilli Cheese Kulcha disappeared. The chutneys with the papad were delicious. The mains too arrived pretty soon - steaming hot & very tasty and filling. The presentation of the Edamame Tikki was very well done. The garlic naan & saffron rice too were upto the mark. The drinks had interesting names and were well conjured. All in all a wonderful experience & certainly VFM. Will visit again next week before flying back home
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Meal
We were summarily happy with our recent Sunday dinner at Rooh. The food was top notch. The seasoning behind everything we ordered, including the praline cashew cake, delivered amazing flavors. Please make sure to leave room for dessert! Service was solid, not great, as the restaurant filled up after we arrived. That said, we were able to order drinks and food in a timely manner.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt go on the weekend
We had a dinner reservation for 7pm on a Friday night. We were not seated until 7:30. Our drink order was not taken until 8pm. The manager came over to apologize but it wasnโt really an apology. He said that they overbook even though they are short of staff. He took our drink order (would have been nice if he had also comped the drinks). Once they finally took our food order and the food was served the meal was very good. The food deserves a higher rating. Overall we spent 2 1/2 hours at Rooh for 2 courses. Although the food was very good I would not return here on a busy weekend but may try it during the week when it may not be as crowded. In the meantime I think they should rethink their reservation policy and not take more than they can handle.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous!
This Indian fusion restaurant is extraordinary! The butter chicken, masala, and vindaloo are amazing and the vibe is sexy and fun! Drinks are yummy too!

Be the first to ReplyHighly recommended Indian restaurant in the heart of SFO
Went for a dinner with husband just to relax and unwind a cosy Saturday night. Recommended by a dear friend. Itโs worth going there..did a phone reservation for a table of two just assuming a busy weekend night. Had 6:30 reservation, reached there by 6:10, got table right way, impressed. Server came to us right way and greeted us, told him that we are first timer. He was super friendly, recommended couple of starter and main courses.we ordered Chicken 65 as starter, Lamb Shank Nihari and butter chicken as main courses also got with saffron rice and garlic naan... yummylacious.. never had so well cooked lamb before!!! Portions were just appropriate! I also ordered misseltoe kisses tea... refreshing!! At last ordered dessert besan barfi!! Highly recommended!! Heard they have one dish in their lunch menu: Calcutta style kathi roll, me being from Calcutta , want to taste that.. but they donโt have that in their dinner menu. One more trip very soon for lunch.. P.s : we enjoyed the food so much we forgot to take any pics.
Be the first to ReplyNice fancy interior decoration, tasty Indian dishes
Nice fancy interior decoration, staff is super friendly and helpful. Nice selection of Indian food with twist, that sometime improve the taste and in some other cases, to my opinion not. Overall tasty, nicely served, medium /small size portions and did u say tasty... Prices are high to my opinion

Horrible Experience. Walking in: Reached at 8:45 for a 9pm table. I've been here before and wanted to try a few new things, so I booked a table during restaurant week. When we asked for that menu, they said they're sold out. We insisted on it and they absolutely said no. Said come back next time maybe. How could they have been sold out if each of the item is available on the regular menu? Typical sham to get customers to come in and then bait and switch. We were offered a bar seat, but were told we'd have to wait for a table and were finally seated at 9:15 Service: Absolutely horrendous! Our food took more than an hour and each server told us that they're not actually our servers. Food: Average and small portion sizes. Overall, a very disappointing experience at 100$ pp.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday dinner to die for.
We tried their food at the Food Bank event and we wanted to go back to try more things. It was DELICIOUS. If you like a little bit of spicy this is for you. The nonalcoholic drinks and the cocktails were very good. But the food was to die for. The service was spectacular. A joy to go out and have this kind of dinning experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot your typical Indian Food
This was AMAZING! We started with a cocktail - which they have concocted. Mine was the Himachal Sharbat which was delicious and not sweet as described. Then on to the Masala jackfruit Taco, which is unlike anything that I have ever tasted. I couldn't believe that it did not have meat in it. Then we shared the Paneer Pinwheels and the Vegetable Pulao and garlic naan. The food is difficult to describe, so believe me when I say that everything was delicious and our server was the best - Bharati! Oh, and this has a Michelin Rating - Plates.
