Saint-Germain New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Creative culinary experience, excellent service
Very creative dining experience. Service was fantastic; Drew, Hillary, Lauren, Trey, Jordan, and Ana’s knowledge about the food and wine, and their friendly professionalism made this meal a fun culinary adventure. Highly recommend.
Creative dining, fantastic service
Fantastic service, creative culinary experience. Drew, Hillary, Laura, Jordan, Ana, Trey all very professional and knowledgable about the food and their craft. Was a great experience.
11-item tasting plus a small alcoholic punch (I think).
Delicious and creative food! Really enjoyable environment and experience. I didn't feel bad, when all was done, with the cost of the meal.
Must do in New Orleans!
My husband and I live out of town, and we really have to prioritize which restaurants to visit when we come to New Orleans, but this is one of our few repeats! Saint-Germain is delicious, and worth the substantial cost. The staff are knowledgable without being pretentious, and will answer questions about each course. Get the wine pairing!

This experience was recommended to my party through a friend as we were visiting, and I was really shocked to hear a rave review after coming here. I'm no stranger to tasting experiences, but the staff was not communicative or informative in terms of expectations of cost. As wonderful as they were in terms of explanations of the courses and enjoyable hosts for the evening, it would've been nice to know certain aspects of what is and isn't included in the cost of the ticket. As well, I found hair in my food during one of the main courses and no one really did anything about it when it was brought to their attention except take the hair away, as most courses are one to two bites and I noticed a bit too late. Finally, my party and I were all incredibly sick the next day in varying ways. Despite these experiences, the inside is gorgeous and the cocktails were great, not sure if you can just pop in for a drink given the nature of the seating. To sum it up, as far as $300 a head goes, there are far better culinary experiences that you can have at or below that budget.
Phenomenal.
Tasting menu was out of the world. Quite literally there was not a single course that was a let down. None were even just good. Everything was a perfect bite or two (or three or four). Wine pairing were excellent as well. All unusual but also well paired. Hard to pick a dish of the evening. The most eye opening was probably the lovage gelato. Truffle add-on was good if expensive but I think the dish would have been amazing any way. Quiet venue. Well paced service. It is nice that they stagger service so the whole dining room isn't on the same course. Nice cocktail to start out the evening as well.
Most importantly the food here is top notch.
It is a bit expensive as I spent as much here as I have spent at 2-3 Michelin starred restaurants. The service was awesome and the staff are extremely kind and knowledgeable. You begin at the bar with a few starter courses and they also give you some time to go over the drink menu as they have a nice selection of premium spirits and great wine. We went with the wine pairing. The ambiance is nice and cozy here. The bar is small and the main dining area is fairly small too. It feels very home-like. My only complaints would be with the pricing and the amount you get. Some of the courses are extremely small and the wine pairing only really amounts to around 3 - 4 glasses. We did get the truffle additions and a couple of post meal drinks but for two people we spent over 700$. If money is of no concern then I say go for it.
100% fabulous.
Great service, Thoughtful presentation. Amazing pairings. All in a kind of a hipster setting, so definitely not a formal restaurant! Very, very well done!

The concept to begin at the bar was unique, but not necessarily effective. We didn't interact with one another while waiting for the entire group to arrive to begin the process. They held us waiting for later comers despite the reservations, reminiscent of a Teppanyaki service. The food was fabulous! Each course was exceptional and stood out alone often competing with its side. Each one could very well have been served alone. It would benefit from the absence of the bar experience and get the five stars it deserves.
Impeccable service combined with a truly unique experience
Impeccable service combined with a truly unique experience made the delicious food and resourceful wine pairing a night to remember. thanks!
What an amazing experience from start to finish! This is
What an amazing experience from start to finish! This is one of the best foodie finds we've made in our travels. Great staff and service, they took the time to explain each course and the wine pairings. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented. The courses were paced nicely and portioned well. The dining room is small and quiet, which we appreciated, it was very intimate chef driven experience for these 2 foodies!
This restaurant is lovely and the staff outstanding.
Our sommelier and servers were very exceptional and very knowledgeable. The wine and food pairing was extraordinary. The space is a resurected old house. I really loved it! Our 9+ course meal started at their beautiful bar where we were served exquisite starters and wines. This is a "special restaurant" where a full staff serves about 30 persons per night in two seatings. It is a dining experience where the menu is set and changes every few days. The dining room is set in low lighting but it is not dark; a real beneifit for fully experiencing delicious food, beautifully presented. Each food and wine course was fully described when placed on the table. This is not a meat and potatoes restaurant where you are in and out in a short time so don't expect that. This is a place to experience an unhurried unique food and wine event. Saint Germain is a rising star in New Orleans. Go now before you have to reserve a year advance. Bon Appetit!
Unassuming and Perfect!
Perfect. In every way. Attentive but not stuffy or pretentious. I always hoped that old school would finally be punctuated by new love in a true New Orleans experience. Not that this is "New Orleans Food." Arrive sober and enjoy beautiful food, with the thoughtfully paired natural wines they curate. This stands up to any Michelin tasting menus I have experienced, and at a 1/3 of the cost. Go in a tank top if ya want. This is the real deal. So much love. We were in tonight. (Kudos to the music as well. Very tasteful and broad in spectrum)
We finally made it to SG last night.
It was not what I was expecting. Let's begin with the location. 2/5......It's on St. Claude right next o where Reds China was. That's about as close as you'll get because their signage is impossible to find. We had to call to figure out exactly where the location was. You enter the old home and receive the first few courses sitting at the bar. That is because there are only seats for 12 people in the entire place. Staff:3/5. The hostess was awesome. It was her first day on the job due to movie crew strikes. You The bartender was very nice and mixed a fine drink. Beyond that there really isn't much to brag about. Food: 2/5 The first course was a tiny portion of something I took a picture of. The second course was something tiny I took a picture of. It tasted like a NYC street falafel but they weren't trying to create that flavor. All three of us were disappointed in the food. If I want tapas for $135 I can find much better places with a courteous wait staff.
Beat fine dining in Nola
Let we walk you through 10 courses of deliciousness! As you enter you are greeted with warmth and hospitality from the amazing staff and taken to the bar where you start your dining journey. You begin with a Roasted onion and Parmesan broth! I wanted to just ask for a full bowl of this and call it a night it was so amazing! Next you move to Hokkaido scallop, crispy potato topped with fermented jalapeño. Followed by a Gougère stuffed with lamb. Both bites were equally delicious! For course no. 4 we were brought Wagyu over rice and a surprise 4.5 course of Tempura squash blossom! Then you are moved to the cozy dining room for the rest of your dinner. The restaurant is literally in an old house and it makes you feel like you are dining at the chefs table! First up in the dining room is fluffy cornbread bites! Next is Rosy Sea bass flown in overnight from Japan! This was definitely one of my favorite bites! Then on to Foraged mushroom “Cappuccino “ with black truffle! My favorite bite has to go to the Guinea fowl, turnip, & radicchio dish! We upgraded and got the freshly grated truffles and it was to die for! The truffle balances the Guinea so well! As you move to dessert we were brought Saint-André Cheese Soufflé! I’m a sucker for any kind of cheese dessert course and I must say this was amazing! We finished the night with Vanilla bean pana cotta, praline, and smoked maple! Saint Germain is an amazing dining experience that I highly recommend!! The staff is very interactive and even @treysmithnola head Chef will likely make an appearance serving up a course or two to your table!
