Frustrated
We live outside the US but had hoped to buy a Sakayana gift card for a friend. Sadly, their billing system does not accept non-US credit cards (Visa). Nor could I pay over the phone. We've encountered this before with US vendors, and it's frustrating for the lost customer – and lost business for the vendor. (Foreign Visa cards work perfectly well for payments within the US!) So, obviously, we couldn't rate any of the items listed here except service.

Overpriced an d so so food staff friendly but not really cognitive about Japanese food. No Wasabi. I do not drink and was tempted to get some saki

The sushi here is always very reliable. I usually call ahead to place an order for pickup and they are very efficient. Some rolls are deep fried and others are raw. There is also a large assortment of sashimi to choose from.

We keep on coming back to this restaurant due to the excellent consistency of their plates. We have been coming for years now and the quality has not changed. The sushi dishes are all perfectly prepared and excellent, and we particularly enjoy the Ellis tower appetizer which is very unique and pleasant to the eye. The Tonkasu Ramen was not very tasty and bland and probably would try the Miso Ramen next time. The servers are always very nice, attentive and knowledgeable. We will keep on coming back!

My wife and I have been to Sakanaya a few times and we always enjoyed whatever we ordered. I would say the only drawback is that the restaurant is quite small so you might wait some. Wouldn’t recommend going in busy days especially if with a large group. Besides that, food is great, tastes fresh and several options

Very nice place to eat on the lively Green Street. They have good sushi, tried the Spider Roll. But the best is Vegetarian Ramen. Its a wonderful meal to have on a cold night

The Playboy and Playgirl sushis featured prominently among our dinner choices this evening. So did Don Katsu. Salads and miso soup were super starters. We enjoyed our visit here!

The food is good, the service is good, and the restaurant is nice. Get the "shareable" Willis Tower appetizer as your main meal, it's big and very yummy.

Sakanaya looks and feels like an expensive chic little place you would find in Chicago. Quaint atmosphere in a hidden entrance with exceptional food. I haven't had a bad dish here ever. We always expect the bill to be more than it always is, especially for the quality and quantity of food. I got some sashimi that was so thick I swear it was half the fish. And the poke bowls are awesome!

I cannot believe this place exists in a college town! This is some of the best sushi I have ever had. The rolls were so creative and fresh. We had wing appetizers that were so yummy and lightly fried. The roll I had was the crunch munch, so different, fresh and tasty. The second roll we had was the OMG roll. It came to the table on fire and the roll was absolutely delicious! I cannot wait to come back here when I move my son into school in August. Kudos to the chef!! One of my new favorites!!
