They plastified the landscape.
(See photo) They switched from olive oil to vegetable oil to dress their salads. They switched canned white beans for chickpeas. The server yells your order from a distance: "room number? and name? " because they can't bother to walk to your table. Really disappointing.... Here we are in one of the most beautiful countryside of California. Calistoga! But somehow they can't see that that I guess. These French wannabes need to take a closer look at their surroundings. How could you be so insensitive (and pretentious)?
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend and I were spending the weekend in Calistoga
My girlfriend and I were spending the weekend in Calistoga and were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant for dinner. A google search for "dog friendly restaurant in Calistoga" turned up Sam's Social Club as a top result. My girlfriend called the restaurant and made a reservation and confirmed verbally that dogs were ok on their outdoor patio. We showed up for dinner and were seated at a table. A few moments later, Michael Iverson, the food and beverage manager showed up and asked if our dog was a service animal. We told him she was not and he very rudely told us we had to leave because they do not allow dogs. We explained to him that we had called and talked to someone and he denied that any of his team members would tell us that dogs were allowed. He made us feel like we were trying to pull something on them and was extremely rude. Very bad customer service if you ask me. His attitude was completely unnecessary and I'm sure looked bad to the few other patrons dining at the time. We have eaten there before and found the food to be average. If you want rude service and average food go to Sam's Social Club. We will not be back.

This restaurant is a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant located in Calistoga. It is located a few blocks away from the main downtown area but is a short walk to the local shops nearby. The food was amazing and was prepared quickly. Service was great and the restaurant was able to accommodate for a gluten free diet. I would love to give this place 5 stars but I tried to call the restaurant at several different times throughout the day on different days with no answer.

Super cute place ! Pork belly was fire !!!! Breakfast was good just split one meal so we could have some extra apps and bloody merry !! Also really good . Staff was nice but lagged a little bringing the check at the end . But would go back for sure for that pork belly .
Be the first to ReplyWe had an excellent dinner at Sams Social Club.
The Caesar salad was crisp with not too many croutons, and the dressing was delicious. We also split the prime rib. Dinner was just right for the two of us. The 16 ounce prime rib was cooked perfectly. Our server was very good. Would highly recommend this place for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyCannot rave about Sam's Social enough.
Here's what you need to know: family friendly, decently priced, great people and good food. Come for breakfast, lunch or dinner and get the same attention to detail, friendly conversation, and lots of good food. This spot is a must especially when you're in Calistoga on those summer trips. 10/10 recommend and you won't be disappointed

It was a long wait to get a table for brunch but oh so worth it. We didn't mind waiting as we played some of the games on-site at the resort (bocce ball anyone?) Lovely atmosphere and I'm still dreaming and drooling at the memory of the food. My husband and I still say it's one of the best brunches we've ever had. My tastebuds were in Heaven. We ordered sparkling wine and the ricotta crostini. I ordered the benedict and my husband ordered the scramble. We ended up trading halfway through so we could enjoy the other's selection. Can we just talk about those potatoes?! I almost keeled over dead in my seat at how delicious they were. I did not want a greasy spoon basic breakfast and Sam's delivered on every level. Can't wait to return to Sam's next time we are in Calistoga.

We decided to dine here for dinner and were seated in the lounge area. The drinks were satisfactory, but nothing exceptional. However, the food exceeded our expectations--it was truly excellent. While the service was friendly, it was a bit slow. I had intended to order dessert, but the delay in our server taking our order prompted me to leave without it. Would I recommend it? It's a cute spot, but nothing particularly outstanding to rave about.
Be the first to ReplyJust had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar.
The food was shockingly good. Bartender was great letting us have a few tastes of wine to help us pair with our orders. Don't miss the pork belly appetizer.

Expressing Martini was perfect.

We had brunch at Sam's this weekend and absolutely loved it! Not only is the food delicious, they have the right amount of staff to ensure a consistent level of service. We were impressed to see managers on the floor helping during a busy time. My husband said the burger at Sam's was the best he's probably ever tried and he is is 55 years young! Sam's is one of the reasons we will return to the Calistoga area-- we are looking into staying at the bungalows and cottages there on the property. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

Delicious food. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Great service and healthy choices.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food with horrible service.
The host was incredibly nice and earned the second star. The waiter was a jerk. My wife ordered Salmon and got a burger. We waited 20 minutes staring at our food while it got cold until she got her Salmon. In Calistoga for three days and this was by far the worse food and service the entire time. Not one apology for putting the order in wrong, just continued rudeness.
Be the first to ReplyReally tasty food, great service, cozy atmosphere.
A perfect place to bring a group of friends and family for a classic, relaxed wine country dining experience

Came here after wine tasting at a nearby winery, and my girls and I were kind of underwhelmed. The venue itself is gorgeous and there was live music when we came around during lunch time. We had outdoor seating and were seated immediately but took a while to have our orders taken. I had a margherita pizza and churros (and I typically LOVE those things), but everything tasted average (my churros were served a bit hard too). I might have to try this place again to get a second impression, but overall it was "meh" to me and my friends.

Overall pretty good - prices are decent but a few things that brought the review down 1.5 stars but I'm still rating it 4 stars to be nice.1. We reserved indoor seating bc we weren't aware their outdoor seating had a nice plastic covering. We asked the hostess if we could sit outside bc half the tables were empty and she said she couldn't. When we left, it was still half empty so that was disappointing. But our server was really nice and I have no complaints with his service 3/5.2. Sourdough waffle - was really good! The whipped cream was super fresh and thick and a large serving. The blackberry jam was an amazing addition to the fresh strawberries and maple syrup. I would say the only thing is I would probably add a little sugar to the waffle batter BUT still 5/5. 3. Pork schnitzel - disappointing, it wasn't a schnitzel but a thick pork chop that was over cooked and unseasoned, the batter was also bland. But the salad that came with it was really good except the incited chewy pieces of bacon (I'd prefer crispy salty crumbles of bacon) 3/5.4. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and really sweet 5/55. Coffee - they give you a pitcher so that's convenient but to up the service I think it would be nice if the server offered to refill the cup when they come to check on the table 4/5.

This place is GREAT! A nice combination of resort guests and locals. Sit in the bar and ask for Angel, she will take great care of you! The octopus starter was our favorite thing also local wines. We had local bubbles, and a cocktail. Can't wait to return! Thanks Angel!
Be the first to ReplyMehhhhh I was NOT thrilled.
Al thought device was decent the ambiance was beautiful and the area was nice the food was not very great.I was excited to have a breakfast salad as I want and need more greens in my diet along with a yummy egg it just didn't do it for me. I love dressing.... But this was a little intense. Also got the breakfast pizza... I'd say a sauce would really boost the flavor. It was quite Bland and I expected like 3 eggs on it it only had one in the center. While looking good is one thing... flavor is everything and I give the salad a 6/10 and pizza 4/10.Beautiful... but not very yummy.

I arrived here around a little before 9pm on a Friday night and was seated immediately without any reservation. Parking lot was a bit full so I was worried there was going to be a wait but there wasn't. The staff here were very friendly. I absolutely adored the décor and layout.I was seated outside but there are heating lamps and they also provide blankets. I was so shocked when our hostess asked if we wanted blankets. I just couldn't believe it! Honestly, the heater lamps were pretty strong where I felt like I would've been just fine without the blanket but the blanket was a bonus. I ordered the Market Ceviche, Piri Piri Chicken, and their seasonal mule.Market Ceviche (4/5): Personally I would've preferred a fish ceviche, but they only had shrimp for the day. It was flavored pretty well but I would've preferred it to have a little more spice. There were jalapenos but they weren't spicy. The shrimp ceviche was pretty tart but I really enjoyed that. The highlight of this dish were the banana chips. This added a perfect amount of salty yet a hint of sweetness to the ceviche. They complimented each other perfectly.Piri Piri Chicken (5/5): Absolutely enjoyed this dish!! Everything was cooked so well and i don't have any complaints. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was so tender. The aioli sauce and lemon complimented the chicken so well. The crispy potatoes were packed full of flavor and had a perfect amount of crispiness. The charred cabbage was something light but yet a perfect addition to help balance all the flavors.Seasonal Mule (5/5): My go to drink is usually a Moscow mule. Anytime I see Fever Tree Ginger Beer listed, I have to order it. That is my all time favorite ginger beer so I'm so glad they use that for their mules! I liked how this was a seasonal mule, so the flavor was a little different. It contained an apple spiced syrup that I really enjoyed. I would say the alcohol tasted a bit strong, but I would prefer my drinks to be stronger rather than just tasting straight syrup.Overall, I had a really good experience and I cant wait to come back to try more items on their menu !
