Real deal NY style pastrami.
Excellent service. Great bakery, too. A must stop every time we visit the Palm Springs area.
Be the first to ReplyWaited 48 minutes for a pastrami sandwich to go.
People who ordered after me repeatedly received their orders. When I asked, I was told me order was coming and then more people who ordered after me continued to get their food. When my sandwich was finally ready, I asked if they'd forgotten my order and they said yes. I then asked if the potato salad was in the box with the sandwich. I was assured I didn't need to check so I drove home and they for forgot the potato salad. Terrible service and an incomplete order.
Be the first to ReplyThe positive: it's a for-real Jewish deli in the distance
The positive: it's a for-real Jewish deli in the distance of the posh suburban desert sprawl of Coachella Valley. It will remind you of the for-real good jewish delis you wish you were at, which I can't say I exactly found it to be. Also the serving sizes are more than ample, and the service was quick and attentive. Negs: There's a difference between simple, classic dishes with minimal, basic ingredients and underwhelming food. This was underwhelming. Our egg salad sandwich had tons (tons!) of egg salad that needed just a lil bit of love to be something more than eggs, mayo and salt. A dash of onion or scallion, a shake of paprika - just something. It didn't though, and we couldn't finish it. Our lattkes - and again it was a huge serving of these - were super greasy, and more of a greasy diner-style than I'd expect at a deli. So greasy, and again without any onion or anything beyond greasy shredded potatoes, so those too we failed to finish. Our blintz - also simple - did deliver though, and tasted just like we imagined and hoped it would. The desserts did look good, but we skipped these. This was a quick visit and our hopes were high - we always miss New York - but, after all, this is the SW desert.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pastrami! The bakery cookies were especially great.
Always a go to when we're in Palm Springs/Palm Desert
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for a sandwich! TRust me.
The food here is unique. I like the potatoe salad that comes with it. The service is great, and I like the old school feel of the place. The deserts when you walk out though, stay away lol. Great food and highly recommended.

We grew up in Palm Springs with Sam the owner, and as a child we would go to Sherman's (Sam's father may he RIP) Steak House. It was always wonderful- Sam is VERY METICULOUS, and he's ALWAYS on his servers and staff to ensure the best experience possible.

Colette is so deserving recognition as Sherman's number one employee! Works her tail off trying to keep customers happy! Honestly, she should be the manager, as her people skills are fantastic! Of course, she likes the one on one connection with her loyal customers! Tay has also really impressed me! Great staff! Some just seem to go out of their way to make your experience magnificent! I have actually met people at Si Bon, the classiest restaurant in the Valley, who agree with me that she is so friendly, efficient, and hard working! I have numerous awards in education as a retired teacher, counselor and school administrator. Hard working, loyal employees should be recognized by their employers, as I was for forty years! Great food! Enough for two days! Very fair prices! From the hostesses to the cleaners, all friendly and kind. Kudos to the owners!
Be the first to ReplyFor as many times as I have been to Sherman's in Palm
For as many times as I have been to Sherman's in Palm Springs, and for as many times as I have stayed in Palm Desert and Indian Wells, I have yet to actually come to the Sherman's Palm Desert location until very recently. Well, coming here on a Friday kinda sucked. As expected, there was a huge wait. Think the wait ended up being at least 45 minutes, but that's what happens when you come at peak lunch hours. Since this was my first time at the PD location, I had to run it back to my original order at the PS location and get the Grilled Reuben with Pastrami. I've had this several times at Sherman's in PS, and this hits exactly the same. A significant chunk of tasty pastrami to be had here! By no means is this even close to the best pastrami I have ever had. But you cannot go wrong with this for a Jewish deli located in a desert. Also tried the chopped liver for the first time...was actually a lot more moist than I was expecting! Lastly, make sure you save room for Sherman's amazing desserts. They're super cheap, yet you get a massive portion. Had the carrot cake cheesecake...let's just say it had a pretty long life even after eating here! Staff here are great, no complaints from me. They work really hard given how many people are in this restaurant. Took good care of us! I'll have to come back to Sherman's again, but maybe at a time where the way isn't as bad.

Sherman's Deli has become a regular visit when we're in town. Last time I was in the area, we came twice since we wanted to try the breakfast options too. The corned beef hash was so good! Their bagels are delicious too. Be sure to order some to take home! Everything we've ordered has been really good. The service is always great and the portions are legit. I love a good restaurant that is consistent with service, food quality, and overall experience.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance: Loud country western music at 8 a.
m . That seemed unusual! Food: no lactose free milk products available and this is 2023-Shermans needs to update to help their customers.Pecans in their trail mix (served with oatmeal) tasted rancidService: our service was good except for the fact that our coffee cups were close to empty yet the people next to us had Starbucks cups and theirs were getting refilled.
Be the first to ReplyI would eat here everyday.
I loved the Grilled Ruben. The Carrot Cheesecake was incredibly outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyWe got the hot pastrami and it was entirely fatty.
Very little meat at all. Spit out multiple bites. Diet Coke from the fountain also tasted off. For a $20 sandwich I wouldn't recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Variety of food.
The waitress was nice enough to let us in just before closing time. Unfortunately, she did not act like the appreciated our business, when we left.

We came from Colorado thanks to my pregnancy cravings! I want to start this review by saying that the staff was absolutely amazing. The owner coming by every table was also such a wonderful experience! The restaurant itself is very cute and welcoming as well. I loved the homemade pickles and sauerkraut they brought to the table. Nice touch! I was impressed by the portion sizes as well. None of us went home hungry! I have to say the best thing we tried was the corned beef hash and eggs! It was the best breakfast I've ever had by far! Everyone needs to try that! I will be going back for more before my vacation is over, that's for sure! The only negative I have to say is that the brisket was a little dry, which was a bummer. We had a slice of the tiramisu cake as well and the lady fingers on the outside were also dry and hard. With such a big menu sometimes it can be like that, hits and some fall short but overall I highly recommend giving it a go!
Be the first to ReplyWe were visiting family out in Palm Desert.
I had been once before and wanted my son to try it. So before going home we stopped in, ordered two pastrami on rye and the Marion berry cheesecake. The food is some of the best deli food you'll find in the area. The service and staff are very good. Parking can get crazy and you may have to wait for a table but the pastrami sandwich is loaded and the meat is so soft, and packed full of flavor!
Be the first to ReplyEverything about Sherman's is amazing.
Great everything? We would definitely like to go back again.

Great comfort food! Out of many of their scrumptious desserts but everything we did have tasted great. Relaxed atmosphere, great staff!

Alright, I know this place gets a lot of hype and I drove 45 minutes today to get a corned beef sandwich and I have to say, I was very unimpressed. The $20 sandwich contained super, I mean super, fatty meat and bread. No mustard, no pickle, no cabbage and I had to pay an extra $3 for cheese. Not to mention the meat was slimy and the potato salad, I've had better. The service I received was excellent considering they were super busy as they typically are and the food came out quickly. Just not good. Don't think I'll come back here again nor recommend it to anyone. The prices are too high for meat and bread.

Shermans is true deli, the outdoor seating has Mountain View's. Now let's talk about the food...whether you are in the mood for classic deli sandwich or potato latkes and matzoh ball soup they have you covered. If by some slim chance you still have room for dessert, they have an amazing dessert case and you can take some treats home with you!

Classic kosher style deli. I had the sweet and sour cabbage soup which came with ample beef and was delicious. companion had some brisket sandwich which was excellent as well. Last time I had some corn beef chopped liver sandwich which was also great. Service friendly and attentive. Premises clean.
