Atmosphere: good, clean, open, Service: needs improvement. Food: outstanding!
My friend took me here for lunch. She has been to the other location, first time at this one. Popular place, we got there just in time, right before the lunch crowd came and took up all the seating. When you are seated, there is a QR code to log into the menu on your phone. I will say, it took a wait to finally get a servers attention to take our order. To note: this location does not serve alcohol (OK what goes down with spicy hot food but a good ice-cold beer) and paper plates, paper bowls and plastic forks, spoons are used. We ordered the Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper (Fresh Boneless Fish Fillets, Rattan Peppers, Fresh Bell Peppers, Sprouts, Black Fungus) and the Mini Lamb Skewer (Mutton, Dried Chilies, Scallions, Cilantro) and a Diet Coke. When the food came it was all hot, fresh, and smelling wonderful. Honestly the BEST fish I've ever had... seriously, melts in your mouth, just the right heat, and so light. The lamb was fantastic, though my friend said the dish was missing the skewer/toothpicks that the other restaurant had. To be honest, it's a kill joy eating off of paper plates and bowls with plastic utensils and after we finished, we waited and waited for the check until I finally got up to get the attention for someone to give us a check. Atmosphere: good, clean, open with additional seating outside. Service: needs improvement. Food: outstanding!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and closer than the SGV
We went with a friend and were blown away. Nice room, good service, and excellent food. Favorites were the Mapo Tofu, toothpick mutton. and the boiled fish with Rattan pepper. All very spicy, but the heat isn't a substitute for flavor. We liked it so much we went again a couple of weeks later - just as satisfying. Parking is $8 in their lot - I suggest you look in the neighborhood. or metered on Sepulveda.

Great Experience Sichuan Impression Santa Monica Blvd location
Visiting from Boston area and found Sichuan Impression recommendation online for their new Santa Monica Boulevard location. We arrived at 7pm on a Friday without a reservation and waited just over an hour for a table. They have a small outdoor seating area where we could order drinks while waiting.
Our party of 4 ordered and shared a variety of dishes including:
- Juicy Steam Chicken Chili (served cold with a delicious sauce)
- Toothpick mutton (yummy small pieces of lamb on toothpicks)
- Tea Smoked Pork Rib (meat almost fell off the bone; nice dry rub)
- Stir-Fried Chilli Chicken (boneless; chicken pieces were lightly breaded and fried)
Dishes were spicy which we liked. The 'vegetables' in the stir-fried chicken dish were all varieties of chilis, diced up. I enjoyed all the dishes; my favorite was the steam chicken chili.
We ordered a 5th dish - a spicy hotpot with shrimp - that was good. I consider my tolerance for spice heat to be very high. This dish pushed the limits of that tolerance. :)
For our five dishes, rice, pitcher of beer, tip and taxes, the total bill was $152.41.
Great authentic Szechuan cuisine in a hip looking small restaurant.
Picked this place off internet search on the way to LA and were very happy with the side trip to the unofficial Chinatown in Alhambra which is a must visit city if you want real Chinese tasty cuisine. The place is pretty cool looking inside and service is top notch. The food was great and very authentic. Not sure we will ever make it back to this part of the world but if we do we will come back to visit the place again.

I ordered the Toothpick Lamb because yelpers are raving about it, but we were not impressed by this delicacy. As a matter of fact we would not order it again, the dish is overhyped. The food that shined was the Kung Pao Chicken and their House Spicy Rice, these two were delicious and probably the best I ever had.

The food is very authentic Szechuan with the right amount of spice. They aren't afraid of keep the spice game real by not only using regular hot spices but also using numbing spices.
Many dishes to choose from the selection is vast and not much to go wrong on.
Just remember it's family style eating. Going with a group of 4 or more would be best to get many dishes.
Powerful explosion of flavors and spices, awesone dinner
