We were WOWed by this place! First off, the interior and ambiance is so cool and we were greeted promptly and felt so welcomed. The bread rolls with garlic butter were FIRE and I dream about them. Pasta and burger were pretty good, and the desserts were decadent and huge. Good spot for a client dinner or date night!Follow me on Instagram/TikTok for more food reviews and photos - @global_grubs !

Smyth Tavern is an upscale tavern-style restaurant in the space which formerly housed Andrew Carmellini's Little Park. The service is excellent, certainly what you would expect at a high end restaurant. The menu is New American and the food is as good as it is creative. We will certainly be back.

Really solid meal with a couple friends at Smyth Tavern last night. It was a last minute dinner thrown together after some drinks in Tribeca area. They were able to seat us in a booth immediately and were very accommodating. We started with the meatballs and polenta and then the spinach and artichoke dip to start. Both, very nice. The meatballs were tender and the polenta super creamy and velvety. Then all four of us had the burger. A really nice burger with house made bacon jam and pickles. I'm all for keeping a burger simple with one to two toppings on it and letting it speak for itself. This burger did exactly that. Service was great the whole night from host stand to our waitress. Food came out quick but didn't feel rushed whatsoever. Would absolutely come back here for dinner!

Everything about this place was great; from the service to the food. Nothing really left a lasting impression, however. It's like McMansions. They look nice, expensive, and professionally done, but they're a dime a dozen. But they do it very well, and for that, I am grateful.

Beautiful space and ambience, really friendly host and wait staff. But that's about where i'd say Smyth Tavern as excelling. Tuna Tartare and meatball appetizers were good; for the price, the tuna was a fairly small portion. And when i ordered the Smyth Burger, which was allegedly a staple there, it didn't come with onion rings or the sesame bun like all of the photos the restaurant and other patrons have shared on social media and Yelp. The burger was also tiny, and we joked it looked like a slightly upgraded slider. Again, for the price, portions are quite small and i found myself opening the bun to see if there was any onion jam or sauce because the burger was a little bit dry and the egg/brioche bun was the largest part of the burger, when i prefer the burger itself to be the star. Fries were also non-descript and not very crispy. Clearly, expectations met reality and it wasn't as delicious or memorable as i had hoped. I'd go to the neighborhood The Smith any day for a burger and crispy rice salmon app on par with this better or better, at a way better price. They have potential - drinks were good and thought the space itself was gorgeous and atmospheric. I Just recommend they work on quality/portioning and execution. You're competing with the best steakhouses and burger spots in the city, and even Hillstone blew this out of the water with their portioning and quality. Their namesake burger did not live up to the hype.
Be the first to ReplyDon't order their chicken sandwich it is just not good.
fried slim chicken breast Patties that are too dry and flavorless. And that's like 25 bucks

Yesterday I dined at Smyth Tavern around 11am with 5 friends. 4 out of the 5 of us had ordered medium rare burgers. The burgers came around 12:15 which we waited patiently for. Every burger was completely RAW inedible and freezing cold. I've never experienced anything like it in my life. The manager was appauled. We got the burgers taken off the bill and had them redone, which took another 30 minutes when the manager said 5 minutes. We were so dissapointed because I had dined before and really enjoyed the burger. I really would not have expected to be charged at the end $80 for coca colas and a little appetizer after the experience we encountered. Our one friend whos meal turned out alright had to wait for this whole fiasco to end and still got charged. Please do better and dont feed people raw meat

First off, the staff here are very nice and I thought the service and ambiance was good. But, that's all there is when it comes to positives. Now the negative: The food and drinks were insanely overpriced (even by post-inflation, NYC standards) for what you get, and frankly, not particularly great or special. There are FAR better restaurants and one block away from here, so unless they get tourists coming here from the hotel next door (which they are affiliated with) I can't imagine a local NYer coming here regularly. The worst part was the noise levels in the dining room. It gets incredibly loud at this restaurant, especially when it's packed. I know all NYC restaurants and bars are typically loud, but this one was even above the NYC norms! I left the place with a headache, a ringing ear and an overpriced average meal. I do not recommend it, unless you want to just sit at the bar, have a drink and enjoy the ambiance. I could be wrong, but I just don't expect this place lasting very long, unfortunately.

I would give this place 5 stars based off the bartender alone. Job (aka Jo) was phenomenal, friendly and our drinks were spot on. Outside of the outstanding service the food was delicious, the mafaldine pasta is a must. I was also having such a good time I ended up leaving my purse there and the rest of the staff were very helpful at keeping it safe & returning it to me. I will definitely be back!

The "Tribeca Toddy" tasted like high fructose corn syrup that was put in the microwave for 30 seconds. Not hot enough for a hot toddy and no hint of whiskey that I could taste - not saying it wasn't there, but the syrup was completely overwhelming.Food was good, not exceptional. Pricing seemed fair for post-inflation (except for the cocktail).Took a long time to get the check, even though it was a busy night, which seemed odd (assuming they wanted to turn the tables over ASAP). Tried to get the server's attention for a solid 10-15 minutes to get the check.Kudos to the woman who took care of our high chair though - she was great.
Be the first to ReplyFood was not good.
Horrifically overpriced. The ambience was the best thing about this place. The service was not good. Inattentive. Didn't get our toast or home fries. Had to get up and ask. Had to ask 4 times to get our table fixed (was rocking). $14 French fries as a side? Are you freaking kidding me?! No better than diner food and frankly much worse. This place can't last.
