Highly recommended for wine and food
Loved this place. It’s a small wine bar with mix of food from snacks to full meals. Malbec by the glass was excellent but the exceptional meal was veal chop with broccoli. Hard to see how could have been better. Busy on a random Thursday night so says it all.

A really good dinner venue which is sensibly priced, has a great young team, a varied menu and a really eclectic wine list with some great wines (and value) on it. On the wines, we started with a carafe of the white wine of the month - pinot Gris and blanc mix, which was excellent - and onto a Sicilian red (see photo). We shared 3 small plates, all of which were excellent, and the corn dish had some Indian spices which enhanced it, but didn’t overwhelm. Tomatoes with capers and anchovies was subtle as I find anchovies can overwhelm, and this didn’t. Cheese with asparagus also light, and our nephew polished off a plate of bread (3 types). Our waiter suggested that if we wanted a rotisserie chicken (with chips and salad - best chips I have had in ages!), we order it then because it would take an hour. That order went in immediately, by the time we had ordered drinks and finished off the starters, the chicken arrived. Delicious and we took some home. Desserts were a little disappointing after the high bar of the previous dishes: but the fruits in the two dishes were lovely. Couple of sweet wines and we were off. £260 for 3.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue for a catch up with friends
A friend booked this restaurant on the basis of the reviews but I was a little nervous about the menu. I shouldn’t have worried - Chicken and Wine Monday was fabulous. The 4 of us shared a charcuterie platter (extra bread not a problem) followed by the 1/2 roast chicken accompanied by a couple of bottles of Muscadet. The service was excellent , the food delicious and the Wine excellent. Not cheap for a northerner (~£45/head) but I would definitely go again.

We love Soif, we initially came in one Sunday afternoon for a few drinks and were recommended a great wine for the waitress, the service and atmosphere was so great we came back the next weekend with a friend and the waitress remembered us and our order! The staff in here are always so attentive and kind, and the food is top notch. We came for dinner for the first time next week and it’s one of the best we’ve had in this part of town. They also have some great mid-week dining deals! Thoroughly recommend Soif.

First time here, will definitely be back! Lovely food (can recommend the terrine and the chicken to share) and a great wine recommendation for a beaujolais. What great service too - our leftovers were boxed ready to take home and I forget them… the waiter ran out of the restaurant across a busy road to hand to me. Can’t recommend this place enough

Excellent food: three of us ate the speciality : 'Whole Chicken for two or three people'; we couldn't finish it all, so we given a "doggie bag" to take the remnants home. Utterly delicious - as were the starter plate of charcuterie, and the apple tart for desert. A most helpful manager/head waiter, who chose for us good wines at a reasonable price.

Soif is a French bistrot and bar in Battersea Rise which judging by our recent experience on the first Saturday lunchtime of the New Year we have unjustly overlooked. Particularly as it almost on our doorstop as we live just a short distance in a westerly direction off the A3 in Wandsworth. The authentic French feel is not just provided by the food but decor including maps of French wine growing areas, some amusing posters advertising Terroir-istes and a huge balloon bottle of raspberry eau de vie on a shelf overlooking the lower half of the space. But above all its the hard working maitre d able to single handedly serve the whole upper space with an unique Gallic charm and humour. We shared a very generous charcuterie board to start featuring not only salamis but also duck rilettes and a farmhouse pate all accompanied with a trio of choice breads and cornichons. For mains Toulouse sausage with mustard mash and a glass of wine was the plat du jour and a steak at £15. My wife opted for tartiflette.

Excellent unique menu. Really enjoyed the bbq lamb kidneys, and the bean cassoulet with the lamb main. A very inventive meal!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing and should do better
Doing their best after lock down but very narrow menu and at £48 per head two courses with cheapest wine very expensive. Halibut good but the rest "pastry and sugar"
Be the first to ReplyDelicious lunch, a great find, will be back.
We came for a relaxed anniversary lunch and were delighted. Every morsel was delicious, from the olives, almonds and breads to the rotisserie chicken and chocolate dessert. Quality ingredients, simply and skilfully cooked
The choice of wine was excellent and the Sicilian white we settled in was a joy.
The staff were knowledgeable, attentive and we were unhurried.
Will be back!
Excellent service - great food and atmosphere
Absolutely outstanding. Food excellent, wine excellent, service and covid measures excellent. Our waiter 'Peter' made our night. He was funny, chatty and engaging despite having some tricky tables to handle and a busy level of service. We would definitely come back -
Be the first to ReplyNice evening meal
Nice atmosphere, good service, informal setting. Had charcuterie to start, steaks and cheese. Stater was good, steaks pretty good a little underseasoned maybe, interesting and delicious cheese selection. They specialise in natural wines, we had a bottle of bordeaux which needed a long time to breathe before it opened up. Enjoyable evening, good place for an informal date.

Theres e a lot of competition on Battersea Rise for eating. Soif wins it for me. Elegant food but served well and cooked very well. Its a small restaurant, but pretty busy and could easily be a bistro in Paris once you are inside. Prices are really good, even more so given its location. Highly recommended

It was all delicious , above all things i got ,gorgonzola risotto was special. Arturo was very professional and kind, he knows how to gain customers!! I will return
Be the first to ReplyExcellent family Sunday lunch
We booked Soif for a late family Sunday lunch after the baptism of our daughter nearby. We had family visiting from various places across the country, and knew we would be arriving a little later, so it was all a bit stressful from the organising point of view! However, Soif were brilliant - we ordered everything in advance, and Quentin (who dealt with the booking) was totally professional and polite, particularly as we arrived a little later than planned and I was worried the kitchen would be closing. Because we had little time we did not sample starters or desserts but went straight for main courses. The Sunday roasts were huge and had some of the best Yorkshire puddings I've had anywhere (and I'm an expert in YPs!). The only issue - and reason for a lost 'star' - was that ahead of a long drive, everyone was desperate for a coffee after our meal, but the grinder was broken so we weren't able to have any. Brilliant that the coffee is freshly ground, but a little disappointing there wasn't a backup. Anyhow - all in all it was a lovely lunch, and we would definitely visit again when next in the area. Thank you Quentin!

Just had a wonderful meal this lunchtime at Soif. The staff were super friendly and attentive and made our anniversary meal a great experience.
The roast beef was delicious and the portion sizes were incredibly generous. As a Yorkshire lass myself, I approved of their Yorkshire puddings. We both tried different red wines by the glass which were very tasty.
They very kindly comped our deserts for our anniversary which meant that three courses with wine came to £40 a head. Worth it given the quality of the ingredients! Will definitely be returning.
Just a note to add that there was only one option of meat for the roast. (Not an issue for me but others might want a greater selection.)
