South Beverly Grill Reviews
One of my favourite restaurants in LA.
Delicious food, great and welcoming service. You will not get disappointed. Make sure to get a reservations it's always packed. Favourite dish Shrimp Louie Salad
We visited South Beverly Grill per a recommendation.
We were warmly welcomed immediately. After a short wait we were seated and greeted by Chris our server for the visit. He told us of the non menu items that were available. We started with the chips and guacamole. It came with salsa as well. The guacamole tasted fresh and the salsa had a very savory taste. When we ordered our entrees, my wife selected another recommended dish, the Ruby Star Salad. I went with the Crab Cakes as I was told their coleslaw was the best. When our meals arrived we were both very pleased with our selections. I absolutely loved my delicious crab cakes. Make with nice size chucks of great tasting crab that was seared to perfection. My wife loved her salad and mentioned the dressing was wonderful. We had a very nice visit and were quite pleased and impressed with our meals. Chris gave us fantastic service. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and was very clean. To top our visit off was that we found a parking lot just up the street that offered free parking for the first two hours. If you are in the area and decide to visit South Beverly Grill you will not be disappointed. We loved it!
Best nicoise of my life, still thinking about it.
Can't wait to go back, wow. The artichoke dip also bomb.
I just have to leave another review about my favorite
I just have to leave another review about my favorite restaurant in LA. I ordered the rib eye for the first time for lunch. It was cooked to perfection. It was so juicy and tender. Can I have this everyday? So delicious.
Been here a few times Serice was ok, my expectations was
Been here a few times Serice was ok, my expectations was higher because the service at honor bar is so next level I thought it be the same. But this last time I walked in South Beverly Grill they said they're fully booked but then they took a few parties after us that didn't have reservations (I over heard there conversation)
I had an excellent lunch today at The South Beverly Grill !
I had an excellent lunch today at The South Beverly Grill ! The Hillstone restaurant group always upholds a high level of service and quality. I appreciate their consistency. I highly recommend their Sushi, specifically the rainbow roll. I also really enjoy their tuna Nicoise salad.
this place is always extremely consistent with taste,
this place is always extremely consistent with taste, portions and quality! vibes are casual - but on the up side. they have bottles on bottles of wine to choose from. i have a couple of fav's from here that i will highly recommend. Thai tuna roll - great to start with, tuna is always fresh, macadamia nuts add a crunch, wrapped precisely in white soy paper. Cheeseburger - beaaaautiful layers, order this as is and enjoy freshly ground chuck with their pickled onions and a thin layer of their house made bbq sauce. comes with everything a burger should come with. Bbq ribs - tender, juicy, and their sauce is immaculate! Kale Salad w/rotisserie chicken - simple yet significant to the Beverly menu. fresh herbs, roasted peanuts and emerald kale. Solid 9.5/10. there's usually a wait, so i would suggest reserving or carving out a lil extra time for the wait. eyeing their French dip for my next visit!
Consistent, delicious, and accessible.
Hillstone restaurants never disappoint and SBG was no exception. Came for a birthday dinner. Our server was great, ribs and burger were delicious, martinis were cold. What more could you ask for
My friend and I eat here every other week.
We usually share a rotisserie chicken, a few sides and a slice of key lime pie. Let me tell you that the staff could not be more positive and accommodating. This past week we changed it up. I was craving sushi and found the pressed sushi and the Nigiri on the menu. Wow! One would not think of this place for sushi but it was top notch in quality and presentation. I was still hungry so I convinced my friend to share a medium rare rib eye. This place is not known as a steak house either and the presentation was beautiful. It came with millionaire butter rather than regular butter, the server said, which peaked out curiously. We did not realize the steak was soaked in Worcestershire sauce. The millionaire butter also had Worcestershire sauce mixed in it. If I ever order this dish again on my own, I would ask them to skip the Worcestershire sauce completely and just serve it plain because I did not taste the meat. Ordinarily I would never expect or put Worcestershire sauce on a good piece of steak - just pedestrian. They should offer it on the side. I tasted Worcestershire sauce for hours. My friend actually felt ill from too much Worcestershire sauce and made a trip to the bathroom to lose his dinner. The manager was very concerned and helpful and I am grateful for the care of my friend. All in all this review is for the dozens of wonderful things on this menu we have eaten over the past year, the wonderful staff, ambiance and care they take of both their food and their diners. I highly recommend this place.
Just not our vibe I guess.
We popped in last week for lunch only to be told at 11:30am (opening time) that there was a 45 minute wait. Today, I checked their yelp page to see what is the best way to make a reservation because we wanted to try their menu. Obviously this place must be some sort of hidden gem if they were at full capacity at opening time on a week day right? This restaurant is not on open table, not on resy, no direct reservations on yelp. You have to go to the website. Ok fine, booked. We get there we get a nice table in view of the open concept kitchen. Keep in mind they share facilities with the honor bar, which we absolutely love. We go for their cheeseburgers since we are obsessed with the chicken sandwich at their sister facility. The cheeseburger was good, I won't take away from that at all. Is it good enough to mask the blatant discrimination and intolerable service, eh maybe not. The hostess who sat us, approached us after we already placed our order to ask my friend to remove his hat. Keep in mind, there are plenty of middle age men throughout the restaurant with hats on. Had we not already ordered, we would have walked out. We gave it a shot, sorry to say it's a never coming back for me.
Delicious food. Excellent service
Found this based on the Tripadvisor scores near our hotel. Walked in Friday night without reservation and they did their best to get us a great booth. Mix of salads were all excellent plus the spinach and cheese dip with chips as a starter was incredible. Absolutely one of the best restaurants we have been to on a 2 week trip around California
A regular visitor
This is my go-to venue when in BH. We dined twice this week. Service by Nate and David excellent. Food selection broad, and the sushi hand made was excellent. The highlight here is the Dover Sole!
Affordable Wine
Went for dinner on my birthday here. The service is always excellent. The food is always incredible. This place was interesting. In the sense that the wine was very affordable for LA. It was a highlight my food ratings below: French dip-10 Ribs-10 Spinach & Artichoke Dip-9.1
A gem
My fifth visit to this always buzzy and busy gem of a restaurant in Beverly Hills. They have cute waitstaff and their service is great. Chatty atmosphere at the bar. Great cocktails. Their sushi is the innovative. I especially love their Thai Tuna Rolls. Wines are reasonably priced for Beverly Hills. Reservation highly recommended in the weekend with waiting times of around 1,5 hrs for walk-ins whom they can usually accommodate at the bar for a shorter wait.
my favorite place ever.
Jordyn, the hostess, is the sweetest girl. always smiling and so kind, someone better give her a raise. I LOVE HER! and the food..... delicious omg. still dreaming about my juicy french dip and creamyy artichoke dip. makes my mouth water just thinking about it. will be back soon!
South Beverly Grill is a classic LA staple except it is
South Beverly Grill is a classic LA staple except it is always busy. The lighting is not great at night, however, the service is fast. All of the staff are excellent. The menu is kind of all over the place with sushi and American Classics to fresh fish so expect everything from spicy tuna rolls to green brussels sprouts and spinach artichoke dip. Typical price point for LA I would say a really reliable restaurant. You know what you're going to get every single time but I would not say it's phenomenal. I would not say it's a must go to that being said the salmon grapefruit salad was really fresh and but it was not like an all-time favorite salad. This is a good place to go if you're looking for a sit down place in a convenient area with quick service but not super fine fancy or anything knock your socks off. I would give it an eight out of 10.
I loved our waitress, she was very polite and immediately
I loved our waitress, she was very polite and immediately came to service us once we were sat. While I had planned to order the Ruby Red Trout, I was told that the restaurant had run out. I was very disappointed, and ended up ordering the Thai Tuna roll which was mediocre. My friend ordered the Southern Style Brussels Sprouts which were the most unseasoned vegetables I've had in my life, as was the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Overall, the food is overpriced and bland; I would not recommend this restaurant. It is a popular spot in LA, so it was packed and filled with diners dressed in business attire.
I freakin love this place.
The food is so good & the service is top notch. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and (see pic) big as my hand. We ordered many sushi rolls. The Thai roll was incredible. I dream of this beauty. Our server & his assistants kept our every need met. I ordered a key lime pie for dessert. Yum. Don't wait. Go! There's parking on the side.
Heard this is one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in
Heard this is one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in town, so had to try. It was good but not the best in town. The chicken itself was a bit big with the breading falling off, so it made it hard to eat. However, if you're talking "best in town" I would give that award to their Emerald Kale Salad. I was unsure how peanut dressing and Parmesan cheese would go together but somehow it worked very well. It was simple but excellent! The fries were also great. Ambience had a dark but classy vibe and service was solid.
I have been trying to come here for almost 2 years and was
I have been trying to come here for almost 2 years and was finally able to secure a weekday reservation for a client lunch. The wait was worth it. Food: wow, so tasty! We ordered the Thai Tuna Roll and Coconut Shrimp Roll to share. These were a pleasant surprise! Such unique combinations of both flavor and texture. Individually, we all had the Emerald Kale & Rotisserie Chicken salad. They prepared the kale very nicely and had a TON of juicy chicken. I was surprised by the amount of protein - worth ordering. Service: very friendly staff at the door and at the table Ambiance: very dark, kinda loud, tight seating (only reason for the docked star). Definitely a more intimate experience and would be better for a date night than a work lunch.
I called and was able to score a last minute reservation.
We got seated shortly after arriving and our table had comfy leather seats with a great view of the restaurant. I'm a fan of hill stone restaurants for their higher touch in ambiance, food quality, and service. South Beverly met our high expectations as we were able to get in and out quickly with great food. We also enjoyed people watching while we waited for our food to come out.
I wish we could order the chicken sandwich from next door.
Def one of my fav places.
Anastasia is AMAZING.
I've been to South Beverly Grill countless times however she is the BEST waitress we've ever had. My husband and I just left and we are blown away. I let her know that I had a few dietary restrictions and she went above and beyond just to make sure the dishes were suitable for me. If I could request her every time I would!! You're the best!
I gratefully accepted this extravagant gift from a dear
I gratefully accepted this extravagant gift from a dear friend. What a treat, starting with the best Cosmo I ever had. They had an hour wait, so we took the opportunity to order Cosmos at the bar. We watched the bartender adeptly finish this gorgeous Cosmo with an orange zest and it tasted as brilliant as it looked. It was a Friday night so we ended up taking first available, which turned out to be at the bar. At South Beverly Grill, no seat could be bad and service is stellar from hosts to bar to table. All made us feel like VIPs! We were starving and wanted everything on the menu when we got caught looking at what was in front of the lady a few seats down. She smiled and we asked if it's as good as it looks. She had the Seared Ahi and Kale Salad. We're glad we asked and took her recommendation! The Kale salad was tossed with fresh herbs and a roasted peanut vinaigrette, according to the menu. It was all that and everything more, the perfect compliment to each bite of this decadent Seared Ahi. How does a chef know how to create these masterpieces?!?! But wait... Next up, we shared a "slow-cooked rotisserie chicken" with "crushed herbs", heavenly, tender, juicy and aromatic WITH... (cue the trumpets) an apricot glaze! Your taste buds exclaim, "Are we in heaven?" The tabbouleh with the succulent chicken was another perfect answer to every delectable bite. It's the morning after and all I can think of is sad that I didn't have any left for breakfast, but maybe someone will take me back for my birthday! ;)
Great Server, Wonderful Food
Really good food! Great service, my server was able to give me a lot of good recommendations which were helpful since it was my first time at the restaurant. I really enjoyed my time here.
I used to love this place.
..good food and good service. But they've become very unaccommodating and not as flawless as they used to be. I ordered a cheeseburger recently (I don't think they even have a regular hamburger on the menu) and it arrived with no cheese. When I asked for it "medium" the server said we only have 1 size. I meant medium, as in rare, medium, well. Just thought that was McDonald's level junior league. Normally these types of things would never bother me... BUT the much higher new prices they're charging now, I don't think there should be cheese slip-ups on a cheeseburger. It's all part of an arrogant attitude they've always had but has grown progressively worse. For years they refused reservations and then they stopped allowing food to go. I mean, this is NOT fancy food, at all. It's very basic, quality american simple dishes. But okay... you do you, but make basic simple things worth your lobster prices. No?... How about just lose the 'served with a smile unaccommodating arrogance'. I find myself limiting my visits now. I just don't think I want to reward an attitude that says they're more important than the customer. The overall feeling that stands out is "they don't"..."they won't"..."no". Never great feelings for any kind of establishment. Bottom line: egregiously over-priced and not customer oriented.
don't waste your time here the food is overpriced.
The drinks are cheap and terrible. The atmosphere is old, unhip and tired. This is a great place if you want to take your grandparents. Go to Beverly Bar on Camden. You won't be disappointed.
Wow, I am clearly sad about t0 post this review.
I've probably eaten at this restaurant 300 times over the years and I've never had a bad meal. But today it was a bit shocking. I ordered the steak frites. The steak came out half raw and Tasted like shoe leather. I'm not sure quite what happened here. They were nice enough and brought me another meal. The steak was so appalling I could not re-order the same dish but I had the ribs instead. Hopefully this is a one time event. I'm worried that maybe restaurant group was sold to private equity and now they're cutting costs. But clearly something was a missed today.
Surprisingly, very poor experience
I am sorry I have to post this bad review. But today was somewhat shocking. Iโve eaten at this restaurant over 300 times and every meal has been wonderful. But today they served me a steak that was almost raw and tasted like shoe leather. Not sure whatโs going on but I hope this is a one time event because Iโve had many very good meals at this restaurant. They were nice enough to bring me a different meal. Hopefully they havenโt been bought out by private equity and now theyโre doing things on the cheap.
After a long-awaited return to South Beverly Grill and
After a long-awaited return to South Beverly Grill and Honor Bar, it's clear why these Beverly Hills staples have earned their reputation. From the impeccable service to the sophisticated ambiance, every detail contributes to a memorable dining experience. Our meal was a symphony of flavors, with highlights including the refreshing ICEBERG WEDGE, indulgent CHEESEBURGER, delicate RUBY RED TROUT, and mouthwatering KNIFE & FORK BARBECUE RIBS--all executed flawlessly. While the DEVILED EGGS didn't quite hit the mark for my palate, they were a hit with everyone else at the table. P.S. Have you tried anything amazing on their menu? Let me know.
One of my favorite go to spots.
The trout with coleslaw is so light and delicious. I'm not so big into their sushi although they have that too. I feel like sushi is for a sushi place. Their burger is awesome though. And don't forget dessert with the tres leches! Staff is supper friendly and the ambiance is classy / romantic

Maddy was an incredible server! Kind, sweet, and lovely.
The food is also great. Good ambience, good food, and all great.
I love this place! They have the best "French dip" ever.
The spinach dip is solid. The service is top notch. Everyone here is A+.

Some of the best service I've had in a long time everyone was working as a great team in the food was amazing. We got a starter of artichoke hearts which was to die for and I had the entree of French dip which was the best I've ever had really thank you so much for the team for creating a great atmosphere and a great lunch.
Best in town - try the dover sole
As a solo business traveller, this is my go-to venue in Beverly Hills, I generally walk-on without a booking and can be seated at the bar, haven't had to wait for a table yet - after several visits. Greats service, broad menu, highly recommended was the dover sole!
Best restaurant in Beverly Hills
Weโve been to South Beverly Grill multiple times and are never disappointed. The food is always delicious with large portion sizes and the service is outstanding. In addition, the atmosphere is the restaurant is calm and inviting. Overall, a great restaurant.
The best brand in bev hills
5 out of 5. 10 out of 10. Full on white linen experience with exceptionally well trained staff. They know how it gets done in Bev Hills. I prefer the lunch service, but also great for dinner. People watching is a competitive sport in LA and the So Bev Grill is the plaza de toros.
Good for special occasion.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food and service. High prices however. Great for a special occasion. The ribeye was great! Cosmopolitan was good.
South Beverly Grill
South Beverly Grill in Beverly Hills is a great place to go for a delicious meal experience. The service is excellent and attentive to make sure that you have everything that you need. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have created here.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant
We came here for my daughterโs birthday. The ambiance is sheik! Had a wonderful cocktail and spectacular dinner.

Me and my husband called today to make a reservation for lunch, the lady who answered told us no need for reservations we are open to sat you down as soon as you come in, We drove for 45 minutes to get there, restaurant is full and same lady told us there is a wait for an hour and half .. We left to go elsewhere... very disappointed at management to allow incompetent people answer the phone.

This is my go to restaurant!! I love their kale salad, sushi, and steak. The service is always superior to all the other restaurants that I've been to and they have a very comfortable, yet sophisticated ambiance. I seriously crave this place on a daily basis.
I generally would choose boutique restaurants over chain
I generally would choose boutique restaurants over chain ones, but let's talk about how SBG really keeps me coming back. The menu is not the most innovative, trendy, but I can guarantee you everything on the menu (including the things I have not tried, because I do have a set menu at this point menu) is delicious because consistency is what keeps me coming back time after time! The ambience is classy and upscale. I love sitting in the booths. They do have a dress code where you can't wear baseball caps, hoodies, sweats, flip-flops. When I say everything on this menu is good, I mean it. I come here regularly, and yesterday was the first time i felt inclined to send fries back because they were definitely the bottom of the batch and they were too short to pick up. Our server was so understanding, and next thing we knew, the chef personally hand-delivered, a fresh batch of the most beautiful fries. I I rarely send food back, but that was a very gracious experience. I have had the veggie roll(I know it sounds boring but try it, you'll thank me later), roasted chicken kale salad is a must, the fries are the best I've ever had - you must ask for their seasoning salt to sprinkle on top, or do yourself a favor and order a half vodka, half gin, martini, extra, dirty, and bruised with blue cheese olives. Finish your meal off with the perfect ice cream sundae! It's way better than the ones at Tower Bar or Craigs. The spinach artichoke dip, deviled eggs, or grilled artichokes are a great way to share some starters as well. If you want something a little bit more indulgent, go for the burger, the Hawaiian ribeye is marinated and cooked to perfection, I usually don't eat ribs, but I've tried my friends have had them and said they were delicious as well. The "lightest" optionI've had was the seared scallops salad. I do recommend making reservations because when I go to check in here, I do hear walk-ins complaining that they can be up to 2 1/2 hours. I'm not sure if this is true, but I would hate to wait when you're hungry... I also love trying the bar when it's a last minute quick meal.
What is happening here? This restaurant used to be top
What is happening here? This restaurant used to be top notch food and service wise along with Gulfstream, Bandera and Hillstone, You didn't breath right, the manager was right away at your table making it straight. We are heading towards Denny's faster than Space X. As of today we are in need to revoke waitress with disgusting nasty long nails which will never have tolerated or even hired in the past touching your plate and you dear Ashley, proclaimed manager you are in urgent need of manager training because I do know which school of hospitality you attended but we don't definitely have the same definition of this word in the dictionary and I don't quite frankly understand how did you pass the screening of Hillstone restaurant group. That being said we are all tired to hear because of Covid they can't hire quality people. We pay the same price for horrible people and horrible service. ENOUGH. Quite frankly a good amount of patrons of this restaurant are locals or live not too far from there or are regulars for many many years. We know the topic very well.
Been coming here for years.
My family loves coming here and we usually come for Sunday family dinners. I will say it's gotten very hard recently to get reservations even for a weeknight so book early. The burger, sushi, and salads are great. Service is always great. I will say I like the burger more at the honor bar. Their menu is pretty extensive. They have valet if you cannot find street parking.
What's not to love about this place? Very consistent, food
What's not to love about this place? Very consistent, food is delicious, ambience great, love every minute (when I can snag a reservation)!
I love the Burgers at this place, hands down one of the
I love the Burgers at this place, hands down one of the best burger in town. The scallop salad with juicy scallops is another of my favorites along with the ruby red trout and I could go on until I reach the Tres leches dessert which is the crown of the meal!Yet they need to fire the front staff, the hostesses are hostile as hell! Are the hostesses ex prison wardens in charge of forming a barrier between you and your loved ones ( in this case the loved ones being the burger and scallops etc...)?You are always greeted with a stern sterile face and told there is an hour and a half wait without asking if you have a reservation or not. Yesterday I had a booking and was confused why they directed us to wait at least for another 45 minutes after I have them my name for the booking reservation. Turns out the never knew I had a booking not because I didn't inform them but because they don't look at you or hear you. I'm a repeat regular customer and SBG is down the street from us so it's a natural choice but these days I go there when I'm in the mood to be abused!
