To begin with, this is my 4th review of this restaurant and we have been visiting this restaurant for many years (at least 15 years, and visited on average, 3-4 times a year) and over the years, we have witnessed it's transformation but it was getting from bad to worst and that prompted me to write this review. It was during the Chinese New Year period and the restaurant offered the festive lunch ($60 nett per pax on weekend) when we visited the restaurant. Our last visit here was about 6 months ago and that experience was not that "fantastic" but still acceptable. Now worst! This recent visit was terrible. It was stated to be CNY festive lunch, there wasn't any CNY related dish offered (except the DIY Yusheng, but without salmon) and the fried Nian Gao with coconut. The other dishes were like some Prawns/Shells, Satay, Fried Rice, Roti Prata and some curry dishes, Chwee Kueh (very hard and tasteless) and Red Bean Pao, a few variety of fish/prawn crackers, Rojak, Lemongrass Chicken, Braised Belly and Ngoh Hiong, DIY Popiah and Kueh Pieti, some cut fruits (no ice cream) and almost all. They should not have named it "Festive". Misleading. (and they don't even have Mandarin Oranges unlike other restaurants that offer!) And almost towards the end of the buffet session (at around 2.10pm), a chef then came to the dessert station to prep crepe (which you can choose kaya or durian) for diners! What? Most diners had already left. Luckily we were still there and managed to try that and that was one of the better dish for the day. In fact, we were the only ones who managed to try that! And the food were just passable, a steep drop of food standard and quality from the past as they used to have live cooking stations. The food were truly not nice or fresh. Chefs were seen walking around and chitchatting among themselves. In fact, there were more staff and diners and that was weekend! Throughout our dinning, only 3 tables (including us) of diners having buffet, totaling 12 pax (and also another 2 tables of 4 diners ordering ala carte). While coffee were included in the buffet (via machine), they also had teh tarik (placed at another station near the entrance) and we only noticed it when leaving the restaurant. One of the female staff (in suit), did go over to one of the buffet table and asked if they would want that (but she didn't ask us and so we didn't know until we left and the other diners overheard us saying and told us they were asked if they would like to have that). Service in clearing used plates were ok but they had other service lapses. When we arrived, we showed the staff our booking on Makan+ (under Kris+ app by Singapore Airlines) on the app and email confirmation. But he told us he could not find our reservation despite us showing him the "confirmation proof" of our booking. Then at payment, the cashier told us the restaurant could not "validate" our booking on the Makan+ app and so we were not able to collect the points for booking/dinning at the restaurant. And of course, no discount too! (as on the app it stated 10% discount) The staff seemed like "stranger" to the app and were not able to explain and asked us to contact Singapore Airlines for "clarification"! What? And we paid as mentioned earlier, $60 per pax and it's very steep considering the poor spread and quality of food served, lousy service. With this price, we could dine comfortably over better quality/spread of food with bird eye's view at Seasonal Tastes (Westin) which we visited some days earlier. Given the continuous negative dinning experience at the restaurant, we will blacklist it for the time being as we can dine at other better restaurants at the same/lower price. Totally not worth it! (this is the first time I have given such a poor rating since I started reviewing in my walk around the world)
