Steelbach Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
Our family of 6 went to dinner here to celebrate a birthday.
We were very disappointed in our steaks. They had so much fat parts we couldn't even chew. We had an appetizer, a couple drinks for all, our main dishes and sides. We were seated in a booth and for 6 it was crowded. There was barely room for the food on the table. The service was okay. It took a long time to get our second drink after we ordered it and it also took awhile to get our food. For what we spent, the next time I'm wanting a steak I will go to Eddie V's or another reputable steak house. We are fortunate in Tampa to have so many options on where to dine and spend our money.
The food was good but the service was .
.. waited over 20 minutes for an expensive bottle of wine. Saw our server maybe 2 times the entire evening ... will NOT be back

Will return for the window alcove that looks out to the outdoor section. High ceiling, exposed pipes; love the ambiance and decor, especially the brick walls and unique lighting features. Very good service, decent food, great wine. What not to love? Out booth has a handsome door that sets against the brick wall. It's pretty poetic -:). But it's also next to the bar. When we first sat down, shortly before 6pm, the restaurant isn't too busy. The this little area is the commingle place for the staff, who chat, and are affable toward each other, like back slapping. Pls just be mindful, that we're inches away and seated, which means short distance with our eyes meeting their lower back ... The wine is awesome. They've two wine menus: Captain's List with hard leather binding runs to 4 digit; and soft leather binding, which is for people like us, from the other side of track -:) We ended up with La Jassine, Côtes-du-Phône Village, 2021: it's yummy. Foods, we've - buffalo cauliflower: good but wish they cut down the size (the Chinese way ha ha ha) so the sauce covers more. It's not mushy or soft, which is good. - crispy potato: good, the bacon bits are excellent, of high grade. - NY sirloin: good, very lean, hard to cut (bad arms/shoulders from pickleball ...) - flat iron steak: pre-cut, good, very lean - scallop: good. I also enjoyed the bed of veggies, even they're bit too sweet for my taste, but it's veggie sweet, so I ate a lot - be healthy for once. - brown mutter mushrooms: my fave. I was too slow to scope up some before it was mixing with the sauce - starch (?) or mashed potato (?) I'm a believer that fresh ingredients shouldn't need much of sauce, especially creamy ones: let them shine on their own. Cooked mushroom produces juice, maybe put them on a bed of shredded lettuce (?) ... Stop here Irene, you're NOT the chef! Their beef is grass fed, which is leaner than usual. Both steaks came with butter in the ramekins. It's definitely a personal choice. For me and my two companions, we prefer the fatty marbled steaks, even they claim theirs are marble too: "We partner with local producers to raise Steelbach's grass-fed, pasture plus-nished beef. Our steaks have excellent marbling and premium flavor and are cooked over 1000-degree oak and mesquite open fire grills...." WebMd wrote .. : "No studies have proven that grass-fed beef is better for your health." I googled 'grass fed cow government', got the following ~ USDA grass fed: This program requires that ruminant animals be fed only grass and forage, with the exception of milk consumed prior to weaning. Animals certified under this program cannot be fed grain or grain by-products and must have continuous access to pasture during the growing season. ~ NIH: Grass-fed vs. grain-fed beef systems: Although many consumers perceive grass-fed beef as more environmentally friendly than grain-fed beef, there is a dearth of research available to address these consumer claims. ... Consider environmental footprint (water, land, greenhouse gasses, and energy) - conventional beef finished on grain for 128 d: produced the lowest greenhouse gas footprint but required the highest energy input - steers grass-fed for 20 mo: used the least amount of water but produced the greatest greenhouse gas. ~ American Grassfed.org ~ Penn State.edu ~food insight ... afterward, we walked to the Straz center, for A SUPER thrilling concert!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here.
The food was delicious and the service was awesome ( thank you Nathan)! We're definitely going back.
Great brunch experience at Steelback last Sunday.
Steevie, our server was wonderful and very attentive to our needs. We sat outside to enjoy the view and beautiful weather. The food and drinks were good. Great ambiance and perfect place to gather with friends. I must say that I enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back.
Went for brunch, and it was delicious.
Great service. We went early enough that the crowd was small and quiet still.
Everything was excellent.
Service counld not have been better. Drinks were prepared and served perfectly. Appetizers were delicious. Oysters with mango mignonette were succulent. Salads were very delicious. The scallops were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Brunch delicious.
Cocktails delicious. Service was fine and the ambiance outside was kids running around and it was cool being on the River.
This place lives up to the hype.
We went for brunch and were thoroughly impressed with the food. We started with the monkey bread, which was amazing. Then we had the southern breakfast and the steak and eggs. Everything was excellent, especially the brown butter for the biscuit! Our waitress was excellent and the vibe of the restaurant is really cool. Make sure you make a reservation. I am looking forward to my next trip back to Steelbach.
Ambiance is great.
Service is good and waiters, bartenders, etc have a very positive attitude. The issue I had was the food taking excessively long to come out (about 1.5 hours, possibly longer). My steak was cold when I got it and looked different than what it usually looks like. I mentioned it to the server and was visibly frustrated of which they said the steak would be on the house. I believe the visible frustration upset the staff however and they took a very long time to close us out. Keep in mind we arrived at 8:00 pm and they were closing up and me and my guest were the only patrons at the bar at this point. When the receipt arrived it was different from the check of which they charged us for all the food but gave us two drinks for free. We gave a $0 tip and left feeling like we were ripped off. I would expect the quality of food and service to be better given the amount of money spent at this establishment. It sucks because we would regularly go every other week however I dont think wed be welcomed back.

We sat at the bar and Bryce our bartender was amazing! 5 stars. The bone in filet, cornbread and grilled bacon salad were all top notch.

Amazing! How many times have I walked past this place or seen it from inside Armature Works. Finally we went in and the food was delicious. The place has such a cool vibe with the brick and the big round chandeliers. The service was really great too. I had a Cesar Salad and Mac and Cheese and both were fantastic. Their steaks are so tasty (tried a little piece). Highly recommend going.
Previous visits were superb.
This time it was subpar. Service was unfriendly and uncaring. When the waitress was told that the cappuccino wasn't tasty and had little foam, the waitress said they didn't have a barista to make it. The salad came dressed even though it was requested to have the dressing on the side. The salad was remade but left off several items from the original salad. A take home container that was requested never was delivered. The hamburger was cooked correctly but lacked flavor. Refilling of water glasses was slow. The salmon and grain was very good as was the monkey bread and shrimp aps. Ambience was very good. But not good enough to bring us back for more.

I ordered oysters, because my server said they're from the nova Scotia , which is the best spot. They were so tiny with so much relish. What a rip off. Crackers were even stale. I order a cucumber gimlet. $17 and the small martini glass was less than half full. I order a double vodka soda tall. $30 and barely tasted vodka. My two friends got salads with shrimp added. Shrimp was rotten. We tell the server and the manager came out and said the chef agreed they were bad. My check alone was $130 for 1 person, two drinks, oysters, wedge salad, side of mushrooms, and I left and we all left and got Wendy's on the way home. Awful!!!!!!

Nicholas was our waiter and he was amazing!! He was so knowledgeable about the building and showed us pictures of what it used to be. He was funny and entertaining, it was a pleasure to dine with you - the food was delicious!! We had the bone marrow twice baked potatoes, cornbread (so good!!), broccoli, pimento grits, crispy potatoes and steaks all around. We will definitely bring more visitors up when they visit us down in Ellenton.
New favorite DINNER option in Tampa.
Started with the Cracklin Cornbread (excellent flavor and not saturated in sugar) and the Short Rib Mezze (delicious, tender meat, tasty veggies, and sauces). Entrees included the 16oz ribeye (cooked to perfection, so flavorful, large portion), the boneless filet (very tender, tons of flavor), pimento cheese grits (creamy, but could use more flavor), mac and cheese (HIGHLIGHT-best iteration in the Tampa area so far, cheese pull was fantastic, tons of flavor, the texture is dreamy), and a side of pesto rigatoni (surprised with how much I enjoyed this dish, very tasty--finished it off with the oreo cheesecake (flavorful, creamy, different textures but combines well). Kaitlyn was a great server and the ambiance is very cozy but sophisticated. We enjoyed it so much we went back for Brunch. Unfortunately, the Brunch experience left a lot to be desired. Started with the monkey bread (thoroughly enjoyed it; it was not overly sweet, just enough sauce and baked just right). Entrees included the Nutella French toast (was so excited to try this dish but the Nutella was overpowering and a little dry, granted I requested the orange creme on the side, and the whipped yogurt was good). The Nashville Hot or Not was pretty bland. The chicken was overly cooked, borderline burnt, biscuit was ok but the gravy saved the meal. The side of grits was also lackluster. Overall, I would stick to the dinner options.
Third time coming here and it's amazing.
Sat on the patio again- great atmosphere. Fantastic service- Alex was great. All of the food was 10/10 amazing. By far our favorite and the shining star was the short rib mezze. Cannot stress enough how amazing it was. The pimento cheese grits were also fantastic. The Oreo cheesecake was great as well. ***yelp- would add more pictures from multiple visits but it won't let me put more than 10 total from all visits***
Couples
Visited here yesterday. Very popular place. We had an outdoor table - perfect weather for it. Food and drinks were lovely! Very large portions compared to UK but still tasted amazing n The seasonal drinks are a must! Staff were very friendly and helpful
Came for brunch on a Saturday with 6 other people.
I like that they sat me as the first guest without needing the whole group present. Monkey bread 10/10- so good and so addicting. Wouldn't think to have such a sweet item as an app but happy it doubled as dessert. Pork belly Benedict 8/10- I usually dont care much for pork belly but this was pretty good and the pimento cheese was the best part of this. Mimosa flight 7/10- Nice concept cause you get 4 different flavors of mimosas. Decent portions of each glass but not enough champagne in my opinion, barely got a buzz after finishing everything. Also wish they labeled which was which like they do at most places that serve flights. Oreo cheesecake 9/10- not your normal oreo cheesecake. it had toffee, peanuts, and dulce de leche as well. Bummer if you have a peanut allergy though. Service was great- Justin our waiter was super friendly and good at giving us his recs. The vibe is a 10/10 too, I like the industrial look of this place. The seats are comfortable and the tables provided enough space for everything. Parking is kind of annoying however, I had to pay $10 to park in the lot and don't think they validate. And they dont have their own restroom, you gotta go to the main hall of Armature Works. Return? maybe. I'd try different entrees and cocktails though. Recommend? yes, nice to have a more private, sit down meal compared to everything else at AW.
Great brunch
We stopped in here for a Sunday brunch. Place is very well put together We had reservations I highly recommend making them The staff was Fantastic and the food was just as good. We went on a rainy day, so we had to eat inside, but I hear on a beautiful day you can eat outside and it is gorgeous I’m looking forward to returning and trying something else

Amazing food on Sunday brunch Our server was a lovely girl Kaitlin just started and was amazing The place is awesome layout and killer vibes. Go here and enjoy.
Terrible staff at bar
This place boasts of great food and awesome riverside ambience. I wouldn’t know after an hour of being there. Took 5 minutes to be acknowledged at the bar from a server helping the bartender. 2 more minutes before a menu, and quick rundown. 45 more minutes and we left before ever ordering dinner. We arrived before 7 and left at 750 pm without ever ordering food. Weird as the other couple, literally the only others at the bar, were served 2 drinks and were able to order many things. They sat down 5 min after us. Paid $20 for a drink I didn’t touch… so I was forced to drink it.
Underwhelming…left hungry
Very unorganized staff. Three different people came to the table to ask if we’d been helped and it still took 10 minutes to get water. Staff was aggressive in pushing appetizers. Burrata salad was flavorless. Grouper came out 5 minutes before steaks and was overcooked, dry and cold. Manager promised a new grouper but the entire group had finished their meals before the wait staff even came back to check. Cancelled order but a different person came out with fish 10 minutes later. Steaks were decent. Total lack of communication on the part of staff. Decent atmosphere and menu but a fail on execution.
Very Disappointing
Have dined here many times in the past. Took my wife for her birthday last night. Food was very disappointing. Pork belly appetizer was over-cooked. $58 ribeye came out over-cooked and flavorless. 2nd attempt and manager brings out a steak that was, at best, room temperature - with a smile on her face. Rest of meal was also cold. Bar staff was great though...
Great staff, atmosphere, food very disappointing
For a steakhouse, one would expect great quality of beef. Oh, how wrong can one be? Very wrong, my friend. Our family of six, all agreed that the beef should have been much better and trimmed of fat (nearly half is too much), when paying with your hard earned dollar. The sides had some quirky favoring than did not complement the meat or win any fans with our taste buds. The steaks were not cooked to order, medium looked just like the med-rare. Poor food, great service and decor. Oh, and way too loud.
Not Michelin
Great restaurant not a michelin star restaurant however pasture raised steaks are always great 😊 😊
Amazing! From the service to the food
Great food and great service. Nathan was our server. He was knowledgeable about the cuts of meat and the menu. Really friendly with great recommendations. Our steaks were delicious as well as the sides. We did the crispy potatoes, Mac and cheese and mushrooms. All were super good. Very nice wine list The area around Steelbach was really cool for hanging out for a walk before or after dinner. Neat views and interesting building.
Amazing experience!
Wonderful service, great food! We came with a group of 7 and the experience was awesome. The staff was attentive, great drink menu, prices were appropriate. We will be back! Charesse was so sweet!
Best Swordfish ever!
Went for dinner by myself When in Town for work. I actually Did not look at reviews before going but I was not disappointed. Ordered the “black pepper and lime crusted swordfish”. The best swordfish I have ever had hands down. Tender and cooked to perfection- a ton of flavor with tomato and sauce to that fish. A very light but filling dish. Service was 10/10 too. The place was very loud but it was also 7,00pm on a Friday night.
