Lovely fresh tasty pasta and the restaurant staff make it so friendly and relaxing
Big place with a vibrant atmosphere, good wine, lovely pasta & really quick service. Although the food is really fresh & tasty, it’s the staff that make it - they must recruit or train in a certain way, since they make it such a friendly and fun place to be and do it so naturally.

Have been to Sugo Pasta , Glasgow many times and always enjoy it. Visited today and my wife had Number 1 from main menu which was fine, I had the Mushroom Ravioli from the Specials menu. When my dish came there was no Parmesan cheese on it, I asked if I could have some, fully expecting my plate to be taken back to get chef to grate some Parmesan on it. However waitress went away and brought me back a dish of Parmesan. When I got bill I discovered I had been charged £0.75 for a side order of Parmesan!!! Ridiculous!!! When I queried it I was told that Ravioli doesn’t come with Parmesan. There was nothing on menu advising of this and at no time was I informed that I had to pay for it. Come on Sugo Pasta get your act together if all other pasta dishes can have Parmesan added surely Ravioli can as well. Just don’t rip off your loyal customers by charging £0.75 for some Parmesan

Had wanted to try out Sugo as heard some great things about it. After a trip into Glasgow we went for lunch about 14:30. there was a queue when we arrived, but told the wait was 5 mins so, waited in the bar area. First impression from this vantage point was that the place is huge! Less than 5 mins later we were shown to our table, fairly quickly had drinks and food order taken. Mixed salad arrived very quickly, the mains of pappardelle with beef ragu and Tagliatelle with mushrooms arrived with a few minutes more, unfortunately, the drinks order (white wine, red wine and water) didn't! After a few more minutes without the wine, I had to get up, find a senior member of staff and point out we were sitting with our meal but without our wine. The plates are not huge so it was feasible we could have finished before the wine arrived, or waited until the food was cold, the wine arrived a few minutes later. In summary, food was excellent, great taste, if smallish portions, the speed of delivery of the food suggested it's not cooked to order. The place is too busy for the number of staff, the staff seem to be a bit disorganised and under pressure. Its not acceptable to be Brough food well before the wine, so this did spoil the occasion.

Dined here recently as was recommended by one of the ladies in our company. It was a Wednesday afternoon, very busy indeed but got seated right away. Small choice on the menu, we all managed to pick our meal. Service first class, lots of staff all working as a team which I liked. Fresh pasta is always very good, here it was amazing! Different flavours for me. We all thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. I will definitely return. 10's ahhh roond!!

My 13 year old daughter visited today with 4 of her friends. The pasta they ordered was barely warm and one of the girls was cold with hard pasta (not al dente).I did tell them they should have sent it back but they didn’t want to make a fuss.I was looking forward to trying this place myself but won’t be visiting now.

Most consistent restaurant in Glasgow for service, quality.taste everything! 10/10 I don’t know what else to write to hit word minimum
Be the first to ReplyWhy do people order carbonara bucatini, then cut it with a fork?… man alive!
Love this place, always excellent, the best pasta I have ever eaten, sauces sublime. There is a place in Manchester that used to be called Sugo,….. changed now to another name…. Whatever, it’s apparently Southern…. so no lovely ribbons of pasta that you wrap around the fork. Those people who cut their tagliatelle, buccatini, spaghetti ect should really go there. The minute I see people ordering penne, rigatoni, fusilli , you know 2 year olds learning to eat pasta, I really need to leave, shocking lack of early parenting I say!

A slick, well managed, well staffed, spotlessly clean on trend restaurant. Sugo make fresh pasta every day and boy does it make a difference to your meal. The dishes are all superb, the tastes are amazing, I've never had pasta as good as this, even in Italy. So fresh, so many flavours. Try everything you can, it's all good! Staff are brilliant, quick service, polite and friendly, there's literally nothing not to like about the place. If you're in Glasgow and want good pasta, this is the only place to go.
Be the first to ReplyAverage at best.
First the good parts and I can see by other reviews I am in the minority for this Instagram type restaurant. The service from the young girl I wish I had caught her name was brilliant. She is a credit to her employer. The prices are reasonable for what you get although the schooner of Lager rather a pint seems a gimmick and a bit of a rip off considering what they charge. The food was just average, My spaghetti with mussels was poor. The mussels are tiny and the vast majority had not opened which is not a great sign for sea food, surely the chef saw this!. There are no starters as such but small dishes of bread etc and tomato and mozzarella. Again this is fine but when you order they tell you they bring out dishes when ready and at same time. The table we had could hardly take two plates and a couple of drinks never mind four and bread and it was a really poor dining experience. The tables definitely are not fit for purpose. All in all it's a good concept but the actual food average and overall experience is not great.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Choices and Good Value for Money
Lovely choices of pasta, so fresh and so tasty. Really reasonably priced. Busy as usual but that’s to be expected. Host managed to get us a table fairly quickly which we appreciated. Service was very good even if it was a bit busy and noisy.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, friendly staff and value for money
Arrived and the place was extremely lively. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table and I don’t think the queue and waiting time had slowed. This was a Monday night and Jennifer, our excellent waitress said it’s like that every day. The menu is small and the kitchen is open plan so you can see the food being made. I had the mushroom ravioli and soda bread which was lovely. Everything is homemade on the premise and daily. Would highly recommend.

Our first time visiting yours, and this type of restaurant. It was raining heavily, and as a result many venues were getting busy. We were greeted and told despite being very busy there would be a 10 minute wait, it was far less than that. The venue was very very busy with a high level of noise. We sat by the kitchen which was no problem, but in part due to the noise, and me being an old fart I struggled to hear. Not an issue when reviewing the service and food which was excellent. I particularly liked the fact we were told your food comes when it comes we don’t separate mains and starters. All the food was very good quality, tasty and nice portion sizes. Simple fresh pasta. Our waitress was very nice and attentive but clearly very busy. Bill total with three soft drinks. Three mains and a salad with bread and olive oil was £50. As a first experience very good. If a little busy and noisy.
Be the first to ReplyWe all enjoyed the pasta!
Vibrant atmosphere, lively to see how they make fresh pasta! The staff was very nice, specially a waiter called Ali that helped us al , having 3 small children and with part of the group arriving late. Thank you for the patience and understanding. Only downside was a manager snarking at me when I asked for a plastic bag for the 3 doggy bags (as we over order, too many nice things to choose from!); never encountered a restaurant not giving a plastic bag, usually there is no need to ask. I will not recommend the affogato if you are expecting good quality ice cream in it. But overall we agreed we will go again.

It was very busy when we visited and had to wait for a table, we were able to grab a drink in the small bar area while we waited. Really great value for money! Small Menu but good portion sizes and the sides are quite big too! The bruschetta was different to what I expected but was really tasty, and a nice big side of Parma ham! Yum! Spinach ravioli was tasty too! Will defo go here again!

I am always in awe of this restaurant, but today was another level! Me and my gran came in for lunch and were served our food 5 minutes after we ordered - that’s quicker than most takeaways nowadays! Our server Nikolaos was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and went out of his way to ensure we we happy and smiling. The carbonara was single handedly THE BEST I’ve had in my entire life. I couldn’t recommend this place more.
Be the first to ReplyIt’s busy for a reason!
I saw so many people queuing and figured it must be good, and it was. Professional friendly service and was seated in minutes. Had the arrabiata rigatoni. It was perfectly cooked with a beautiful sauce and generous topping of Parmesan. Fascinating watching the pastas being made too. Thoroughly recommended.

Liked it. Very big, very noisy but good food and quick effective service. It has a small menu but covers all the pasta requests you'd have. Reasonably priced as well. I'd go back
Be the first to ReplyDecent, but a little over-rated
Food is nice, but dare I say it slightly over rated? However for price (and usually) speed a good place for a in and out meal with friends. Not sure how, but got our order wrong this time (my friend and I ordered the exact same thing, yet two different dishes appeared), and so service was a bit clunky. The actual food (mussels with spaghetti/tomato sauce) was tasty, but not the best pasta I’ve ever eaten. Overall decent and would return, but not a first restaurant choice for me
Be the first to ReplyThe fussy vegetarian
I would just like to thank our server Hannah . I'm a vegetarian and I will admit a fussy one at that. I was rather disappointed that the spinach and ricotta was not veggie friendly. However I decided to try something different minus the parmesan. Unfortunately it was not to my liking...nothing was wrong with it. Hannah could not have been more apologetic even though it was not her fault and I was happy to just eat some of the bread I had ordered but still pay for my pasta. However Hannah had went and spoke to her manager and offered me another choice of dish. I asked if there was any way I could just get pasta in some tomato sauce that wasn't spicy. Which I must say was delicious. I felt that she went above and beyond and was very kind so thank you very much. I really do appreciate it.
Be the first to ReplyWAITERS ARE ON A POWER TRIP
I have NEVER had a positive customer service experience at Sugo, however tonight was the worst. A front of house staff male member, ( possibly Italian with brown eyes, dark hair and slimmish build) publicly humiliated my friend and I, when we made the innocent mistake of sitting at a table to wait for our friends .When I explained the situation to him-that we thought our friends were already inside sitting waiting for us when we came in but we couldn’t find them, which is why we then sat at a table, he was extremely passive aggressive and cheeky and gave me a snidey look bordering on eye roll, as if to infer we were lying. He then insisted that we leave and walked us all the way to the front door past everyone to wait for a reservation. I hope this employee is trained on customer satisfaction and how to not be on a power trip around teenagers and is properly dealt with.Like I said I’ve never had a positive customer service experience at Sugo but I’ve previously brushed it off, however this is a reoccurring negative environment and Sugos work culture has a serious issue. Your food may be nice but your employees aren’t, and the fact that this is the type of people Sugo are hiring is worrying. My friends and I won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyThis is how you do it. Best Italian ever.
Visited here for the first time and what an experience. From the moment we walked in and greeted by the lovely gentleman front of house to the end of our evening . We were unsure when we read you just turn up, do not let this put you off, it’s all part of the experience. Grab a drink at the bar and watch what is going on and take in the atmosphere. Within no time we were called to our table right in front of all the chefs cooking. Brilliant, and then it just got better. Thank you to the lovely lady who could see us struggling with the menu as everything sounded so good. This tall blonde lady wearing a green top and jeans talked us through every dish and gave us recommendations, I am so glad I listened and chose the mushroom pasta in brown butter. The best pasta dish I have ever had. My husband had the slow cooked beef Ragu and loved it. The sough dough bread was amazing, the bread was just delicious. In fact the whole meal and evening was unforgettable. Every member of staff was pleasant , professional and all looked like they enjoyed their jobs. Thank you all for making our fists visit such a great one, we will be back .

Love coming to Sugo as it is one of my favourite spots in Glasgow… Was in earlier on today (2nd March) and food was amazing. The only downside was that the girl who brought out our pastas had made a mistake and brought another tables pasta that was meant for my partner. When we politely told her this she was very rude and took both the wrong pasta and my (correct) pasta back and said we would have to wait another 10-15 mins to have it remade without apologising. The whole experience was a bit stressful and when she realised that she was the one who had made the mistake she bluntly told us this and sat our right pastas down. This whole experience was made right by a young girl Kate who served us before and after this incident. Her cheerful demeanour was so welcoming and a great addition to the busy restaurant. She took blame for the incident, although there was no need to, and was very polite and attentive throughout our whole experience. Hope to be served by Kate again, thank you!

Sugo Pasta is a must-visit for any foodie in Glasgow looking for authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant's focus on homemade pasta sets it apart from other Italian restaurants in the area, and it's clear that the chefs take great pride in their craft.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful pasta in the heart of city centre.
Every time I walk past this place I can never get a table so decided to head out early and see what it is like . Overall it was a fantastic place for traditional regional pasta . The staff are very friendly and helpful when ordering. The decor is very open and inviting . The food was excellent . I went for the spinach and ricotta pasta with sage butter and sourdough bread . The flavours were exquisite and the pasta was light . I had room for a dessert and went for the cannoli with ice cream. The cannoli was baked to perfection and had lots of great toppings. This was definitely a worthwhile trip and would highly recommend it but do go early as you will be waiting a while.
Be the first to ReplyLack of training?
I can understand why it was so busy cheap prices for the city. It has a place if your with your pals or your kids. It’s a big cafeteria setting giving you pasta served very quickly conveyer belt style. In fact everything was too quick in and out in 30 odd minutes. Service was good but I don’t know if this is a lack of training but we said the wine wasn’t nice possibly off. The waitress said well you have opened the bottle therefore that’s it. In fact it was the waiter that opened the bottle and left it on the table. Anyway how can you taste it without opening it. The cost of replacing a bottle of wine is minimal and unfortunately the lack of customer service on that subject will prevent me going back again as it should replaced no questions asked.
