Small but the speak easy in the back is super cool and the sushi and service are fantastic! Great date spot.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the service I received and not the food.
The food was good. Unfortunately I have an allergy that was not adhered to and it ruined the experience and my night. I noted in my reservation, in a message to the restaurant the day of, and upon arrival that I had a sesame allergy. I was told I would be accommodated. The hostess/manager even asked when I walked in who in our party had the allergy. I said me. Her response was "great, I'll inform the chef." Making it seem like she would tell the chef which one of us has the allergy. So far so good. We get to the counter, the chef asks who gets no sesame, I again say me. Great. On about our 6th course. I bite into the piece of sushi and see there are sesame seeds. I immediately tell the chef and and he apologizes. But like, what went wrong here? Totally unprofessional to say you can accommodate an allergy and then put someone's health at risk and not accommodate. I've been to several other Omakase places, not to mention countless other Asian restaurants and leaving the sesame out or making other accommodations has never been a problem. We were also the only people in there on a Tuesday night. It's not like the chef was busy and got confused. And it seems like that was the only course that called for sesame seeds so it's not like I was asking them to change the entire menu for me. I was then offered lemon water LOL. That's not how allergies work. I was like no thanks I took an antihistamine because I have an actual allergy. Terrible.

Amazing experience, food and atmosphere. The chefs were very informative and their dishes were DELICIOUS. Signature cocktails were unique and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Second time here and had another fantastic omakase experience. Chef Freddy gave us unique flavor combinations and also provided a great interactive experience, being sure to explain the fish and flavors being used. We will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a hidden gem.
Don't miss out. The staff is welcoming, the food is amazing, and the music was perfect. What a happy accident. I will be back specially to see Chef Freddy! What a treat.

This place is such a vibe and a great place to bring a group of your friends!! If you're looking for a place to eat in NYC before hitting the lounges/clubs, sushi by bou is an incredible dinner pre party. Service was top notch by the team from the bartender to the chefs. They're consistently consistent with food and service!
Be the first to ReplyHad an amazing time celebrating a friend's birthday.
We went with a group of 12, the chefs are so much fun! It's not stuck up, snobby, but the fish is absolutely 10 out of 10. Our friends have all decided, we are going to try all the different sushi by bous as we celebrate birthdays! It's such a different ambiance from location to location, but always expect a great time and amazing food regardless of location! I had the chance to speak with Sarah B. The absolute sweetest and she runs this location! Can't wait to come back, don't forget to take a Polaroid!
Be the first to ReplySo goooood! The sushi was fresh and unique.
The vibe is great and the waitress was so nice.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience! Chef Jack is my favorite.
Always go with the bartender special, the drinks are on point.
Be the first to ReplyLol it ruined sushi for me personally.
It was beyond good! Super fresh and the chef is always friend (and very experienced). I've been multiple times already and the service has always been top notch! Really love the vibe there too. Is you're a bigger guy like myself, I recommend adding two or three more of your favorite sushi's on the omakase menu.

Can't remember when it was the last time I had a bad dining experience like this. The food was sloppily prepared and didn't feel fresh. We upgraded the experience from 30 mins to a hour but the extra five pieces of sushi tasted worse than the previous ones. Not worth the prices and killed nice Sat vibe
Be the first to ReplyWe have been to the Sushi By Bou in Times Square a few
We have been to the Sushi By Bou in Times Square a few years ago and loved it, great quality and value, so we were excited to try out this location in the Flatiron. Honestly, I'm far from a food snob and usually let subpar experiences slide, but this experience was one of the worst I've ever had in my life. Even with the upgraded "bougie" 1 hr Omakase, they rush out the dishes to you where you're practically double fisting the food. We finished our "1 hr" Omakase in 40 minutes. The food is sloppily prepared, I saw the chef try to add a topping to one dish, but he couldn't get it to sit on the piece of fish, and after a couple seconds he just gave up and served it without the topping. Usually you're supposed to use your hands to pick up the sushi but it's so sloppily prepared that you have to use the chopsticks. Honestly, it was so consistently bad across the board, I've never had a dining experience like that before. Most dishes don't use enough rice, have too much wasabi, and way too salty. The chef also quickly mumbles the name of each dish as he rushes on to the next dish. And on top of that, it's expensive, over $250 for the bougie experience and 1 drink each. I'm still in disbelief tbh.

Cut to the Chase: The hostess/waitress did not allow us to purchase extras due to table turnover but we saw the rest of the bar allowed to purchase the extras at the end of the meal. Don't come here on Fridays and Saturdays if you want extras at the end of your meal. Detailed Summary: My husband and I have been to various Sushi by Bou locations and were excited to see this location so close to us. We showed up for our 8am seating last night and the bar seating was empty except for maybe 2 people from the previous seating. Those for the 8pm seating were waiting in the lounge area. Then when they cleared the bar table, they called the 8pm seating to the bar around 8:07pm. We enjoyed the food as we always have, but at the end when the waitress/hostess showed up. We asked if we could get 2 Big Macs at the end of our meal and she said no, the next seating was here and Fridays and Saturdays were tight. It sucked to hear that and we would have been fine with it had we not seen that almost every person at our seating got to request extras at the end of their meal. No apologies or recognition of the mistake.
Be the first to ReplyNew Bou Location!! Had to come try it.
Sushi by bou is my go-to lower-priced omakase - great for first timers. Vibes here are great! Came here for my birthday and music choices were on point. I love the lighting here compared to other Bou locations too (definitely center seats are better for those photographers out there.) For my birthday, we also got some comped drinks, so that was very nice of them! I was a bit surprised to see only 2 workspaces/chefs here, since there were really 3 groups. I wouldve expected at least one more. Because of this, I didn't feel like we got the personal experience with the chef we normally would. Food here was good but not great. I think seeing the chef precut all the pieces and pile them together like a mound of meat detracted from the omakase experience. The rice was definitely more firm and dense than expected, and fish/garnish was often placed a bit haphazardly, seemingly without much care. I think everything tasted fresh, but I did end up with a case of a stomach bug too, so I'm not sure where that came from. Overall, I really did want to like this location, but there's definitely room for improvement.
Be the first to ReplyBooked a "bougie" upgrade deal which gave us a free upgrade
Booked a "bougie" upgrade deal which gave us a free upgrade to 17 course from the standard 12 course omakase. The price is great considering the upgrade was free ($60) and quality/selection of fish is good considering how much you're paying. Very intimate, dark and trendy location. There's about 12 or 14 seats at the bar I think and 2 chefs for each side. They played a selection of classic hiphop hits, the vibe was cool. My favorite pieces of fish were the salmon, toro, wagyu uni, a few other ones that I don't remember the names of. A lot of it is sourced from Japan! I kept anticipating the meal to end but the 17 courses is longer than you'd expect. It's a good amount for a culinary experience, and satisfying enough. Def take advantage of the bougie deal!

This place is a little hard to find, it's one of those restaurants that has a sign outside on the sidewalk and you have to take the stairs down for the entrance- we couldn't find it initially because it was too dark to see the sign outside! Having a 12 course omakasee in 30 minutes felt a bit rushed- probably wouldn't do it again. The food was spectacular and kept us full for the rest of the night and the chefs cooked in front of you which I always love. The hostess was great and we got a complimentary sake shot which was so sweet of them!

I came here with my husband on opening night and had a spectacular experience - pretty much what you would expect from an omakase! We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and was able to snag a table before we were promptly seated at the chef's counter. The omakase menu is listed on the left side of the chef's counter so you know exactly what you're getting as the chefs place your piece in front of you. The chefs are funny and super interactive which is great because that is kind of the point of omakase. They drank with us and described where each of the pieces came from. Since we sat right in the center, my husband and I were able to see the action up close! Our favorite has got to be the spotted brawn (botan ebi) - loved it so much we ordered it a la carte after our omaksae! Second favorite? The Big Mac!! Not sure it's actually on the menu but definitely something you want to try.. it's uni AND wagyu all in one - man, I'm salivating just thinking about the bites! Did I mention they import their scallop from Hokkaido? It will literally melt in your mouth!Cocktail drinks and sake also available - their drinks are NOT watered down and actually quite strong!! Very delicious - I'm not a sake drinker but their sake went down so smooth I couldn't resist getting a second and third shot! We also tried the yuzu honey bee (bourbon, honey syrup yuzu), Kyusho Cove (rum and hibiscus tea and syrup), Hot honey (Mezcal, tequila, yuzu, hot syrup , and Old Fashioned Pearl (bourbon, barley syrup). My fav. was the yuzu honey bee - you really get the feel of alcohol yet you also taste the very aromatic flavours of yuzu. honestly a must try. This is probably my fav Sushi by Bou location! Really can't wait to come back for another 5* experience soon! Thank you Jun for the delicious sushis!
