Will always make time to Sushi Jin whenever I am in Singapore! It is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Town. Love how fresh the sushi is and I am also in love with my bowl which is not on the menu but I will attach the picture and you guys should try it! It's about $80. Yes the price is kind of high but it's worth the try!

Great place for a splurge (at least for lunch)!Sushi Jin prides itself for serving five star food at three star prices, sourcing their fish from Tsukiji Fish Market from Japan. I think it largely lived up to its expectations.I went for lunch, and had the Hokkaido Don (uni, scallop sashimi and roe on rice, $45). The uni was fresh, rich and creamy. The scallops and the roe also tasted great. The rice is no ordinary rice, Sushi Jin mixes some Japanese pickles into their short-grain rice so it has a bit more oomph. The lunch set came with a small salad, miso soup, and appetiser at the end.Overall, I think the lunch sets are a great value for what you get (fresh fish flown in from Tsukiji), although the price means I wouldn't eat this every day. I'd definitely come back to try their dinner menu!

Not the best day for fish but I wanted sushi. There were many options for set lunches but I had the omakase sushi lunch, $80. It wasn't worth it, though the sushi was generally well prepared (after appetizer salad and sashimi platter). There were a few sushi with mayo based sauce on it and aburi/torched. Hm. Definitely not traditional Edo style sushi. Dessert of a scoop of matcha ice cream. Won't return for the omakase, that's for sure. Perhaps for the set lunch.

Beautiful subtle flavors, blending gently together on the palate. Fabulous fish. Great maki. Flavorfilled fresh miso. Pricing well worth what you get and not too high. A delightful experience with good music. A delightful evening even if I couldn't take Chef Patrick home with me to make wonderful sushi all the time.

Price point is a little high, but ingredients are of high quality and the chefs' skills are on point. Service is also friendly and attentive. Worth the money and definitely exceeded my expectations.
Be the first to ReplyBranded as an economical alternative to big sister Aoki,
Branded as an economical alternative to big sister Aoki, Sushi Jin attempts to corner a upper-mid-tier share of the mass-market, mid-range, Japanese restaurant scene. So even if it's nowhere close to the price points of mass-market notables Sushi Tei or Akashi, Sushi Jin is significantly cheaper than leading Japanese restaurants Hashida or Shinji. The menu is a lineup not unlike that of Sushi Tei, where modern ingredients spam and pork floss feature in bastardized maki rolls alongside traditional yellowtail or tuna sushi. The difference lies in the fresher ingredients, flown in straight from the Tsujiki Market on a thrice weekly basis, and highly-skilled, properly-trained chefs. We had:1) Tai Carpaccio ($32): a pretty kaleidoscope of sea bream garnished with seasoned kelp, black truffle and chives, was a must-try. Aromatic, balanced and delicious.2) Sake ($16 for 5 pcs) and Kanpachi Sashimi ($26) - salmon and amberjack respectively: fat, swimmingly fresh and sweet.3) Tai ($12) and Chutoro Sushi ($22) - seabream and bluefin medium fatty tuna: sparkling sweet and scrumptious.4) Spicy Tuna Maki ($14): a large roll stuffed with julienned cucumbers, nori and minced tuna, and burnished with a robust spiced mayo sauce. Fantastic stuff.5) Zosui ($6): delicate and comforting Japanese-style porridge with carrots, shitake and egg drop, in dashi stock
Be the first to ReplyJapanese places are a dime a dozen in singapore nowadays
Japanese places are a dime a dozen in singapore nowadays but it's hard to find a reasonably priced sushi sashimi place which offers quality at affordable prices. That's the gap Sushi Jin is hoping to fill. I like the super fresh sashimi here. The lunch sets are good value for money although the portions are modest. My little Hokkaido don was topped with a reasonable portion of hotate, a small but not disgracefully tiny portion of good uni and ikura as well as herring row. It came with a small salad and matcha ice cream. Good value for $35. A nice light meal for the girls, but if you're a big eater you might wanna consider topping up with something extra from the a la carte menu. Dinner is slightly pricier but not so much that you will get sticker shock. I got wagyu teppanyaki which jacked up the bill to twice the amount but was worth every unctuous bite. Budget about $80 a head for dinner and you'll do fine. The ambience also strikes the right note. Classy enough but not so high end that you think you'll need stilettos and tai tai hair to get in. Am going to patronise this place more cos I only have one go to Jap restaurant at the moment. And I'm going to enjoy this quiet little corner before other people discover it!
