Great Value
A very good Omakaze for the money. Casual but friendly. One feels welcome in this unpretending restaurant, with a nonetheless excellent fish quality. Good sake, reasonably priced. Recommended.

Omikase menu - AAAAAAAMAZING dinner and loved the small space, intimate environment with the chef and your guest. HIGHLY recommend.

Absolutely excellent experience. This place is tiny and you are right in the face of the chef. Remarkable omakase, outstanding service, and nice selection of sake. You can talk to your neighbors at the sushi counter or keep to yourself. This is a "sushi experience". You go if you are a true sushi lover. Not cheap by any means but worth the money. No tipping but if you want, slip the chef a $20 on the way out

My first time having Omakase...I was never adventurous in my sushi ordering since didn’t think I’d like raw fish...Having a private sushi chef was an eye opener. We had the 12 piece and the selection was everything from shrimp, oyster, sea bass, sea breem, tuna, fatty tuna and more. Also a hand roll and miso soup. I am a convert this food was delicious. They only have 12 seats so get a reservation + go!

Came with my daughter and we ordered the 12 piece Omakase. We enjoyed every piece. The pace was nice and the fish was clearly extremely fresh. They had a nice selection of sake, wine and couple of beers. The two servers handled the 12 seats with ease. We will 100 percent come back. This place is a sushi gem in NYC!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent up close and personal Omakase
The restaurant, which is located from its famous sister sushi restaurant across the street, does not disappoint. Both food quality and service are excellent!
I agree with other reviewers, the smaller portion omakase offers better value and ala carte orders after the omakase will set you back some serious cash.
Great Omakase!
Only 15 seats and you’re sitting at the sushi bar enjoying delicious food with fabulous service.
Fun time watching the food prep and skill of the sushi chefs. Reasonably priced at $90 for 12 pieces of sushi, as well as starters, hand roll and soup!! Sushi was super fresh with great flavors and innovative preparations.

Ok....Sushi Kaito, not to be confused with the Bronxville establishment is a high end Omakase experience which takes you on a journey around the world, treating you to some of the finest and freshest fish you have ever eaten. From the moment that you enter this well designed space, your senses are at ease. The temperature, the lighting, the staff placement in the restaurant, the name cards at he counter seats, the warm towel on arrival and the tracking of customer history and food preferences history is all just perfect. The staff is incredible. Polite, courteous and they show you just the right amount of attention. These small touches, are the things that make a good restaurant great.
On to the food. Drinks menu leans heavy on Sake....with one Ginga Kohen Beer....which is really good. The selection of available drinks is very well put together and complements the food very very well. For the food...12/16 piece selection....Do yourself a favour...get the 16. Sooo Good. Pricey...but at the end of it.....worth every $.
Tuna, sea bream, salmon, oysters, all prepared with great care by the masterful hands of the sushi chefs and presented to you simply on a black rectangular plate. Two types of ginger, spicy + regular pickled and freshly grated wasabi just sends the food over the top. All the fish is presented with a little origin history, a flavor profile and a possible tit bit on the fish itself. This truly makes for an enjoyable experience. The end of the meal is capped off by the Tomagoyaki.....I dont have words to describe how good this is.
The attention to detail at Sushi Kaito is an obsession...and the end product is an incredible ***** experience. If you have to go out of your way to visit...DO IT.....Its well worth the time and effort.
Incredible sushi
Omakase only, counter only. No gimmicky fancy rolls. Freshly grated wasabi from Japan. Expensive but worth it. I like that they pay their waitstaff a living wage. I’ve lived in Japan several times, and this place is authentic. And delicious.

Very high level Sushi prepared by professional chef.
Similar to what we got in Japan in one third of the price.
Very small place so book well in advance.
Best Sushi Ever!!
This is by far the “best” sushi restaurant we have been to in the world. We have ticked off majority of the Top 50 restaurants in the San Pellegrino list including the first 10.
If you are one of those people who appreciates food and great atmosphere then this is the perfect restaurant to dining in Manhattan.
The sushi was just phenomenal with the taste being so fresh and vibrant in every bite.
Most importantly the chef was very knowledgeable and kept all the diners well entertained with his knowledge and depth of expertise of the market.
Prices, were extremely exceptional despite being in center of the city.
