This place was highly recommended by a few friends, but it was pretty hard getting reservations. I had reservations the weekend that the world closed down due to Covid..March 2020. We had to cancel that one and then it took some time before they reopened and we weren't quite ready to eat indoors. Anyway, I had reservations in October, but decided to check on Thursday for the coming weekend..and to my shock, they had two spots open up! This was my first omakase, but this is what I imagine real sushi to be like - delicious. The rice was the perfect amount to get me through the smallest omakase course - 12 piece for $90. I had tuna, shrimp, scallop, squid, regular salmon, smoked salmon, hamachi, uni, unagi, anago, tamago and toro. All amazing! I was happy with every single piece - even the tamago. Usually I hate that one because it can taste too sweet or rubbery, but this one was delightful and flavorful. The only down side was that the chef noticed I take two bites for every piece and wouldn't allow me to take two bites of the uni. I didn't really get to enjoy the uni because the uni smashed into the roof of my mouth and I couldn't maneuver the whole piece well..ended up not being able to fully enjoy that piece because it was hard to chew. Other than that, I'd love to go back again. Probably for another celebration of some sort. We paid $280 including tax and tip, so it's a good deal for best sushi in the Bay Area!
