Good not great. May have treated us differently since we were foreigners. Staff very nice. Nice environment. Cool restaurant.
History of sushi
An incredible experience! The chef explained each piece of sushi, its origins, and preparation. I learned so much about the subtle flavors of wasabi, soy, and vinegar. Highly recommended!
Cheap sushi with a massive long queue
Cheap sushi but not worth the extremely long wait. Very overrated and overhyped. We arrived at around 7pm and immediately added our name to the waitlist - note you MUST go to the front of the line to add your name to the waitlist, do NOT just stand and join the queue as your spot won’t be counted unless you name is on the list. Once your name is on the list, you are welcome to leave and come back when it’s closer to your turn. The server told us to come back in around 40 minutes, so we walked around before coming back. We came back at around 8:15 and we still had to wait until around 9pm to get let in. For 2 hours of waiting, this restaurant was not worth it in my opinion. It was definitely cheap at 240 yen per 2 pieces of nigiri (all except Ikura and Uni which is 300 and 400yen) You must first order a drink each too which were very cheap too. We ordered most of the Nigiri on the menu, and it was just alright. You definitely get what you pay for. The chefs don’t really seem to care, they are just rushing to make you all your sushi in one go. Our chef was also coughing a lot, and only put a mask on later which was a bit offputting. Whilst being definitely extremely affordable (we spent 5500 yen for 28 pieces of sushi plus 2 drinks), for the 2 hour wait and the lack of quality (cheap obviously), i would not go again.

Very authentic for a European. Delicious food. Phantastic experience. They speak a few words in English. and cpuld prepare gluten free. ( we had our own soy sauce and wasabi).

A real disaster. We went and stood in the line for an hour thinking it was worth it based on the online reviews, but once we got seated we found out most of the dishes on the menu were sold out. Neither the front men nor any of the waiters informed us that they had run out of most of the fish, and they didn’t try to apologise or anything once we were in. We left empty stomach and very disappointed. Avoid!!
Get there early - WORTH THE WAIT
AMAZING and cheap sushi (200 yen for 2 pieces of nigiri!) in Kyoto. Get there early and put your name on the list OR make a reservation (only if you have 4+ in your party). We got there at 4:40pm and were fifth to put our names on the list.
Excellent sushi for a very good price!
Great sushi, sashimi and other seafood for a very good price. Big portions. Almost impossible to get seating without reservations. Both table and bar seating available.

the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.
If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.
Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Sushitetsu Kyoto at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Sushitetsu Kyoto page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Sushitetsu Kyoto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Sushitetsu Kyoto!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
