Really nice ambience, service is great! We order the cheese fondue, our fondue was rackette with a sherry base (which was delicious) we ordered it with sides: Beef medallions, lamb chops, and also had the assorted sausages with sauerkraut and pretzel bread. Chocolate fondue was good.
Be the first to ReplyAlways love coming here when I'm in vail.
It's a must!! The cheese regular fondue is outstanding. Must get the apples and pears for sides. I would get a few rounds of it if you have multiple people. We had 6 people and I think got 5 or 6 orders but, 3 of those people were men who were hungry. Also, pro tip - get a side of steak or chicken as a little boost of protein. We got the sausage appetizer and it was really good. Three different types of sausages with different sauces. Yum! Can't wait to be back. Wine and service is always excellent.

Tried the veal schnitzel and homemade Swiss dumplings for the first time. Wasn't sure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised! Bartenders were extremely helpful and nice!

I felt like I was in the Swiss Alps with Disney-esque theming that was almost a bit over the top. You get a nice whiff of cheese as you walk into the restaurant. It felt cozy, comforting, and warm. Our waitress was very nice, patient, and timely. Weinberg Schnecken: Probably the best tasting dish, they were warm and flavorful with herbs and butter. Zwiebelsuppe: The onion soup tasted like you'd expect, very typical. Raclette Fondue: Maybe it's just me, but was very mid. Been to another fondue place and had similar thoughts, so maybe I'm not a big fondue guy. The veggies to dip were the best dipping side, but there was very little given. A ton of bread came on the side. Side Sausages: Very very small portion, which just tasted like a hot dog. Overall, the food was mid, but a fondue experience might be worthwhile.

We had a group of 7 and our waitress, Sigi, handled our orders expertly. Everything we ordered was excellent and timed perfectly. She recommended the Christmas punch and espresso chai martini, which were creative and delicious. She explained the menu well and all the recommendations were spot On. I was excited to find out they offered a half portion of fondue and the best , gluten free bread I have ever had. We were all impressed by the excellent wine selection. They were out of Amarone and the Sommelier brought out a wonderful 2018 Barolo for the same price. We all agreed this was our favorite dining experience since being in Vail for the week. The atmosphere and waitstaff made this such a fun and unique experience.

Beautiful restaurant, spectacular service, memorable dining experience and overall great value. Hands down best old fashion cocktail I've had. Quality ingredients and made like it's supposed to be made. Raclette fondue was simple but amazing Beef Tenderloin Fondue was tender (tried cooking it in the broth and on the hot skillet) flavored/ seasoned perfectly. You can't go wrong by making reservations ahead of time and won't be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe food, service and atmosphere were all top-notch.
The restaurant was clean and decor was very cute. Denni was a very attentive, enthusiastic and pleasant server. We ordered the beef fondue, cheese fondue, wiener schnitzel, filet mignon and kids' spaghetti, all of which were all outstanding. Our entire party of 7 was really happy/impressed with our food. I don't consider generally consider myself a fan of Swiss food, but would 100% go back to Swiss Chalet if/when we're back in Vail.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst fillet I have ever been served.
I've lived for years in Switzerland and the cheese fondue is less than classic. Authentic decor but $400 for 3 people at dinner is absurd for these meals.
Be the first to ReplySigi is incredible!! She was the best waitress.
So knowledgeable and had amazing recommendations. We did the alper classic and garlic and herb cheese, and then the oil and broth versions for the meat. We also ordered the sausage platter, French onion soup, and arugula salad (SO good). We also ordered the perfect pair drinks (the pear schnapps and raspberry schnapps versions as starters which were excellent). It is a little loud in the restaurant and was a tad warm, but an amazing experience!
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Swiss experience with good food.
The cheese fondue was excellent and on point. Bread could be better though. The escargot was a bit dry. Tartare seasoned heavily. A tad too deep in mustard flavor. Price is $$$-$$$$. We added truffle and champagne to our fondue. The service was attentive and excellent. Located at the Sonnenalp Hotel. Two hour complimentary valet parking with dining. The decor inside is very cute!
Be the first to ReplyWe went with our family of 5 for an early dinner.
The restaurant was quiet. My husband and I had been here years ago with friends and wanted to introduce our kids to it. This would be a 4/5 star review if we didn't experience what happened later. We ordered cocktails, a bottle of wine. Kids got Shirley Temples. We had appetizers, 2 different fondues. Extra apples. And dessert. Our waitress, we thought, was quite wonderful. However when my husband got the bill, our kids were tired and jet lagged 6:30 Vail time, 8:30 east coast time) so he thought the bill seemed high but hurriedly paid it. He realized the next morning our server added a 20% service charge into our check! The website clearly states it's for parties of 6 or more. My husband tipped 20% on the total, not realizing the service charge was on there. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed but felt uncomfortable calling the next day so we let it go so we could focus on enjoying the rest of our trip. Just a bummer because we would no longer recommend this restaurant
Be the first to ReplyThis hotel and restaurant is a wonderful change of scenery
This hotel and restaurant is a wonderful change of scenery from the lovely but predictable high end hotels in Vail. Stepping inside feels like stepping into the old world and the food hits the spot if you prefer to imagine you're in the alps. I went here after an emergency made me miss a trip to Switzerland. The Swiss Chalet helped ease the sting with the charm, hospitality and delicious authentic fondue, raclette and wines.

This is definitely a dining experience with great customer service. They had a nice wine selection and the presentation of the food was excellent. We ordered the cheese fondue with add ons. It was a lot of food and very unique. We topped it off with a delicious Apple streusel with vanilla ice cream.
Be the first to ReplyHoly moly I'm full.
Such a great mixture of foods. Great service from Suzanne. Best meal we've had in Vail. Going to walk off this cheese and hit the slopes tomorrow

Had a reservation placed for a month and was so excited to try it with my family. Got treated terribly by the restaurant manager (Raul Dous) & left the restaurant holding back tears. I never leave reviews on yelp but I was treated with such disrespect, not hospitable at all.
Be the first to ReplyNot too good as expected.
When you get in, the smell is bad there. Was waiting to be seated for long time and looks like hostess just forgot about us. Seems like they shorted on staff. Nice mulled wine. Fondue is the average. Not satisfied
Be the first to ReplyWorst experience having reservations! while waiting in line
Worst experience having reservations! while waiting in line to be seated, our time expired for the reservation. Although we had a card and were at the restaurant within the time given to arrive, the reservation was given to a walk in group. Needless to say the manager was rude and would not give us a table. What is the point of having a reservation if you will loose it either way?

This is such a fun spot for dinner with friends! We shared fondue at the table, had great drinks, and wonderful conversation. I love that it's not too loud, so you can actually hear your dinner conversation. We will always go to Swiss Chalet when in Vail!
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, this is not the real thing.
..Great service, though. The Wiener Schnitzel was a disappointment, two little tiny pieces of veal on a large plate, wrong breading, the Spazle came with a weird curry flavor and the Rรถsti seems to be rewarmed from the day before. The apple strudel was fine, but missed the crispness of the dough. With a lot of imagination, you could think that you spent an evening in Switzerland...

Sigi was an amazing waitress and the atmosphere, food and drinks made for a great meal. You start with baskets of baked pretzels with black salt topped butter. Yum. I tried a medium Weiss beer and it was fantastic. You can get a smaller size or the larger stein depending on how thirsty you are. Swiss Chalet also has many good cocktails. The food is definitely shareable. The Haus salad has butter lettuce with a sour cream dressing. The beet salad is full of red and golden beets along with frisรฉe, pea tendrils and a great dressing. The onion soup has melted cheese on crouton and a broth you savor till the last bite. The fondue is wonderful and there are many options for cheese and meat. We did the suggested Alper fondue and added a sausage sampler and Wiener schnitzel to cut up and dip in the cheese. You do get pieces of bread to dip in your fondue as well as a plate of roasted potatoes and vegetables. It was great for kids too as many of the other tables had families (we went earlier at 5:30pm)A great experience in Vail Village that is worth a dinner during your stay.
