This place is a little cramped but when I went there
This place is a little cramped but when I went there weren't too many people there so it worked out. What I love about their menu is that they have a variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian options that you can customize into one of three formats (bowl, roti taco or naan taco). The fusion between Indian and Mexican food is so unique and really tasty. Plus there are a ton of side dishes and many of the menu items are pretty inexpensive. I also like the location because it's great for eating before/after hitting up local night life.

This place is simply delicious! It's a very cool concept to have a quick place to get Indian food that you can take on the go. We've all tried to dip our naan in tikka masala while walking down the street and it's pretty messy. No? Just me?There are so many options here and different ways you can consume your curries: roti, naan, or bowl. The food comes out fast but the taste and quality is nothing like fast food. Call me vanilla but I got the naan taco with chicken tikka masala and this was a great intro. I will happily be coming back for this and to try more!Naan: 9/10First off, I highly recommend, unless gluten free, you get the naan as your taco shell. It comes out so soft and fluffy, and is massive! It soaks up the curry so nicely but also holds so well together so you can take nice full bites without it falling apart from the weight of the filling. I will try unsuccessfully to get the roti and bowl, because I know I will be craving this naan.Chicken Tikka Masala: 9/10The curry sauce was classic and delicious! The curry is smothered all over the naan and makes it look extremely messy, which is the best. There is no skimping on sauce or curry. The chicken wasn't dry, and I loved all the spices present.I will definitely be coming back here to try more curries and to get the chicken tikka masala naan taco again!

I so enjoyed the theme of this restaurant, however I was expecting them to marry the two distinct cuisines a little better. Perhaps an actual taco that contained both elements of Desi & mexican. Overall this place is more indian cuisine than anything else. I ordered a chicken tikka taco which is chicken tikka in a naan bread meant to be eaten like a taco. The chips & sides were giving what they were supposed to but perhaps actual salsas & chips would of been better. The chai & gukab jamun are a must! It was still absolutely delicious though. Keeping my fingers crossed for a gulab jamun flan or a tikka Carne asada .

Taco Mahal is a very nice stop for savory tacos!!! The Masala Chai Tea is the best I've ever had!!Would have given them 4 Stars, but unfortunately, they don't have a place for you to wash your hands.

I really love taco mahal! Their paneer tikka naan taco is very good, the naan is so soft and the paneer tikka masala is so creamy. The food comes very fast, and there are a few seats in the restaurant to sit. I wish there was a bit more hispanic influence, since it just seems like a regular naan and subji in a different form, but the price is hard to beat for the quality of the food. I'd recommend getting more than one roti taco, since those are pretty small.

I'm really bad at planning vacations and itineraries, but I knew for a FACT that Taco Mahal was on my list of places to try while in New York. I first heard about this spot when my friend sent me a TikTok, and it had been on my mind from the moment I landed. Located in West Village, the store itself is pretty small - having little indoor seating, but ample space outside (though that's kinda tough on cold days). The staff were super friendly, and really helpful with whatever questions diners had for them. The food itself was insane - I never actually thought about Indian-Mexican fusion, but it honestly makes sense after having ate here! I ordered the Naan Taco with Paneer Tikka Masala. I loved all the different options they had, even beyond the protein choices they offered Garlic, Onion, Cheese, and other types of Naan! I was honestly surprised by how filling a single taco could be, but these things were huge. THe naan was soft, fluffy, and you could definitely feel the freshness. The Tikka Masala was flavorful, well-seasoned, and perfectly spiced. I'd definitely suggest you grab a ton of napkins - the curry itself was a bit on the watery side, and definitely made the meal pretty messy.Overall, Taco Mahal is definitely on my list of suggestions for places to try in New York, and I can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyGot the Chana masala naan taco.
.. oh my god it was so damn delicious. I scarfed it down in no time. Threw a little mango chutney on top... chefs kiss. I'll be back for lunch next week! Mhhh mhh!

Taco Mahal is a fast-casual restaurant with a Chipotle-like spin on Indian cuisine. You can choose to have their options on a roti taco, naan taco, bowl, or entree serving. My friend opted for a Chicken Malai Kabob Bowl, while I got the Chicken Tikka Masala on a Roti Taco and a Saag Paneer on a Roti Taco. Although I liked the concept, I feel like I should've gotten naan instead of roti, since both of my tacos broke after one bite. The chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer were perfectly spiced but felt overwhelmed by the additional toppings, especially the purple onion(?). I think this came out a lot more clearly with the bowl, where all the flavors didn't feel like they belonged together. The chicken malai kabob was dry, and all the flavors combined still felt like... no flavor? All in all, although I really liked the flavor of the actual curry, I felt like the amount of stuff in each item should be pared down to really accentuate the key dish more.
Be the first to ReplyHighly overrated place.
It is just regular curry and naan. There is nothing unique in terms of flavor perspective. I was expecting some fusion with mexican cuisine and clearly there was none. It is pretty expensive for one naan and bit of curry. Not going again.

it's rare that I actually end up going to the places that go viral on TikTok but I had to come here when I was in New York. Very small shop with very little indoor seating but a decent amount outside! we ordered the butter chicken plate, the butter chicken taco, lamb biryani and my friend ordered a veggie dish. The butter chicken was so flavorful and insanely tender. the rice was delicious too! my friend was a bit underwhelmed by the lamb dish but he wasn't too hungry and blames it on that. I did try it and thought it was yummy. the food was served pretty quickly and the lady at the front was helpful when we were deciding what we wanted. I thought it was worth the 40 minute Uber lol. And if I'm ever back in New York, id go again!

Be the first to ReplyWent to Taco Mahal for lunch on Thursday.
An interesting concept to change the typical perception of Indian food, while still exposing the traditional flavors.Quality: Taco Mahal is a unique fusion of Indian food where it is served like a taco shop. They have three options, a Roti Taco, which is like a standard soft taco. Naan Tacos are much more filling and closer to a "burrito" based on the amount of food held. Then they have bowls, which are the largest size. I really enjoyed my Chicken Tikka Masala Naan Taco, which held together pretty well and had excellent flavor. The Lamb Curry Roti Taco, was solid, it fell apart quickly and the flavor was not as fun as the other, but still a good options. I was not crazy about the Mango Lassi, which was not as creamy as I was hoping.Quantity: The Naan Tacos are quite filling, while several Roti Tacos would be needed for a meal.Value: $6 for a Mango Lassi. $6 for the Lamb Curry Roti Taco. $10 for the Chicken Tikka Masala Naan Taco.Ambiance: Taco Mahal is located in the West Village. They have several tables outside and then a few more inside. The space has a fast casual vibe, and clearly does a lot of pick-up orders. They did not have any music playing inside, which was strange, but, the tables were comfortable and it make sense to eat-in as the food would not travel extremely well on a hot day.Crowd: A few take-out orders sitting on the counter, but I was the only one dining-in.Service: The food is out extremely quickly.Parking: Limited street parking in the area.
Be the first to ReplyI stopped by Taco Mahal on a Friday afternoon for the lunch
I stopped by Taco Mahal on a Friday afternoon for the lunch special, 3 roti tacos starting at $13 (all vegetarian options will be $13, but non vegetarian options will cost more). I ordered the veggie of the day which was a bhindi masala, the paneer tikka masala, and the saag paneer. Of the three, my favorite was the bhindi masala, probably because it was the driest option.I didn't realize that the roti taco could get a little soggy if not eaten right away. My least favorite of the three was the paneer tikka masala-- the sauce was a little too sweet and the paneer was a little rubbery. Overall, I think it was a good meal and an interesting twist but I think I'll stick to the bowl options next time.

This place is a great fusion option! I really enjoy their flavors, and they are quick and an excellent lunch spot. I'm on keto and also love that they have low carb options and exclude rice (but I really wish they would add a little of everything else to compensate :/)

I got the Chicken Tikka Masala on naan, it was so delicious, also the mango lassi was delicious. they did a great job at incorporating authentic indian flavors in "mexican" style set up that's familiar. mi highly suggest the garlic and cheesy naan. soooo good. my friend got the lamb, it was delicious
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Indian fast-casual food in the heart of West
Delicious Indian fast-casual food in the heart of West Village! This place was suggested to us based on some research we had done and it did not disappoint. We ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala Naan. The chicken was super tender and the tikka masala sauce was delicious. We got the garlic naan and we thought it was a great addition. We also ordered their masala fries to split. Although the fries were a bit over cooked, the sauces they serve on the side were tasty. Overall, I really enjoy this spot and can't wait to go back next time I visit.

We all got the naan paneer tikka masala taco and the flavors were great. 1 taco was pretty filling and I would love to check out some of their other options!!
