These were our expectations and realities with our experience here. I knew they were a one star Michelin star, I knew that we were going by to get good food regardless of what was served. We had both thought it would be authentic Mexican food. Instead it was a highly priced menu, $95 per person plus $55 for wine paring, for Mexican "inspired" food. The food was delicious as expected but it was very much a "this can be put on a taco and called Mexican food". They don't have a hard liquor license so their margaritas don't have tequila. A Michelin star restaurant with no liquor license?! Hmm ok, so the reward is just for food I guess, still a let down. The marg was really good even without tequila so I'll give them that. We sat at the bar so we could see everything the chefs were doing which was a pretty cool experience. So much of it was prepared already and so many of the ingredients already processed that you couldn't identify anything on the plate or in the flavor profile. Any restaurant that has to tell you what your eating because you can't see it for yourself is weird to me. Waiter staff is minimal, you can't really tell waiter from sommelier from hostess so if you need a drink you just have to ask whoever. Everyone is super soft spoken so if you care to hear about your dish, tell them to speak up or take off their mask so you can lip read. Overall it was a good experience. We didn't have any bad food or bad drinks. Everyone was nice. Will we be going back? Not in a hurry. $350 for two people is not an easy thing to swallow.
