I wanted to try our Tai Wah because it had a Michelin Bib
I wanted to try our Tai Wah because it had a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. There was a short line at about 10:30 in the morning (but not nearly as long as the kway teow line directly across). I ordered a small of the wet noodles (which means with soup) which was pretty good but I didn't think it was anything amazing. Maybe I should have ordered the dry noodles because after I ordered, I saw everyone else ordering it and plus they give a side of soup with the dry version. I done messed up. I still liked all the pork cuts, like the liver, blood, and pork balls (although the pork balls weren't as good as the ones from a fish ball stall I had in the same complex). I also don't love egg noodles, so maybe that contributed to the three stars. If I had the chance to try it again, I would get the dry version.

Solid spot but between the soup noodle and no soup, I prefer the no soup. It has a richer flavor and a kick of spice. If you so want soup, it is served with a side of it!
Be the first to ReplyNot sure why this place has bad reviews.
You get the pork noodles, either wet or dry, Small, Medium, or Large. We got the dry pork noodles, large to share, came out to $10 SG. Loved the dry pork noodles!!!! There was so much flavor in the sauce, and meat too (although I don't care for liver). Noodles were fresh and chewy too, just the way I like em. I love that sour and spicy taste of the sauce - we need this in the United States for sure. I also loved the wonton soup it came with! The broth was so delicious. overall, very simple dish for cheap, wonderful. Can't eat this for every meal obviously, but fun to try along with others at the Hong Lim Hawker Center. A great, cheap meal. Highly recommended in combo with Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee, which is right next door!

Tai Wah Pork Noodles is considered as one of the popular Bak Chor Mee (BCM) and is a Bib Gourmand recipient. The small bowl of Mee Pok dry at $6 comprises ingredients like 3 meatballs, dumplings, fried sole fish, lean meat, minced pork as well as pork liver, decked up by the Mee Pok.No doubt that the springy noodle taste loaded with a good punch of chili as well as vinegar, with a small portion at the price of $6 comparing to the market rate to a bowl of Bak Chor Mee, this may be a little bit steep. The medium portion of noodles has significantly more ingredients as compared to the smaller portion. More sole fish, pork and meatballs were seen.Mee Kia Dry - $8 (Medium)The soup on the other hand was tasty and addictive. It also help to cleanse the palates. The liver cooking timing was perfect. It was tender and pink. The queue was relatively long for a Saturday morning and if you asked if the food and price is worthwhile, I would say I won't spend time queuing the next round.
Be the first to ReplyMy all time favorite for bak chor mee (minced pork noodles)
My all time favorite for bak chor mee (minced pork noodles) I've tried many places and while tai Hwa's prices are high, you get your money's worth- so it is fair. $6 sgd for a small, $8 for medium and $10 for large. It is good to the last drop. Many other places will serve this dish with minced pork broth and maybe some meat balls and wonton, here for $8 you get meat balls, pork slices, liver slices, pork dumplings, preserved vegetables and deep fried sole dish. Without the taste of the deep fried sole, it would not be a good minced pork noodles dish. Others will have that taste in the meat balls but at tai hwa you get to see the individual pieces. I ordered the $8 size and that's too much for me. I suggest you order the $6 and add ingredients for an extra $1. It's ole ty if you have the soup version. Besides the noodles, the broth will fill you up. It is so tasty, you will want to slurp the broth up. I've ordered the dry version before and someone told me that to properly gauge the quality of bak chor mee, you need to have mee pok wet. Mee pok is a flat yellow noodles and only a good hawker can cook it right do that it is al dente. Highly recommend this stall but be prepared to wait. If coming for lunch, be here by 1145 for a 15 mins wait. Come by 545pm for dinner. Even at 7pm, there is always a queue.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for its infamous pork noodle soup.
It was ok. But the portion was big and generous and cheap. One middle portion was enough to satisfy me and fill my morning belly for long time during the day. However, the hawker center was a bit too hot and I couldn't properly enjoy the food with all the heat and sweating...

That hit all the right spots! Savory, sour, spicy, and slightly sweet. Standard soup that accompanies the bak chor mee. Comes with fish balls, dumplings, and seaweed.Get there early to beat the long lines. One of the most popular bak chor mee in Singapore.

If you are craving for Bak Chor mee, this is a good place to go to. The $6 portion has all the ingredients - minced and sliced pork, beef balls and fried ti poh (fried sole fish). The sauce is a nice blend of soya, chili and vinegar. This stall at Hong Lim is run by the nephew of the Michelin-starred Tai Hwa at Crawford Lane. The queue is definitely shorter at this branch.
Be the first to ReplyMy favourite bak chor mee in Singapore! (but.
.. I haven't tried the one at Crawford Lane) I've eaten here quite a few times (when the BCM craving strikes, approx once every 3 weeks) and the quality of the food has always been consistent.Nice, springy noodles (go for the mee pok!) with a generous serving of minced pork, pork balls, fried flatfish, dumplings and just the right amount of fried lard. I especially love the fried flatfish, haven't seen it appear in other BCM places. Very salty on its own but goes well with the noodles+vinegar in the dish! However, they don't seem to be open for as long as the other stalls in Hong Lim food center... (have gone at about 7pm only to see that the store was closed :| ) Make sure that you check the opening hours before heading there!

...this is no way close to the one at Crawford street! Don't be fooled by the same name! Some things in life is worth waiting for.

My husband swears by this noodle shop and occasionally tricks me into eating with him. They have changed locations a couple times but the dish is best at this outlet. I have to say, it is quite good. I love the perfectly cooked liver but leave out the meat balls. Their noodles must be homemade. I highly recommend it to those who like pork noodle.

I prefer this outlet as compared to the branch at Crawford Lane, the queue here is definitely not as bad. The quality of the noodle is pretty good... love the springy texture and it is loaded with ingredients (dried fried flatfish, pork balls, liver, minced pork, mushrooms and handmade dumplings). You must love vinegar as they are rather generous with it in their noodles. The soup is rich, meaty and flavorful.
