Taksim San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year

As you enter Taksim, you see these high ceilings with large light fixtures and tables lined up into two different rows lined up with wine glasses. A surely intimate fine dining experience. We were started off with downing a shot of pickled fermented purple carrot soup as a palette cleanser. It was nice and refreshing before we started off with our Sweet and Green salad. The sweet and grassy taste of pea sprouts, tart of the asparagus with the sweetness of strawberry reminds you of a fresh spring. From spring we went to summer, the rising sun of urfa oil added an extra kick to the lamb and beef dumpling. Spice was mild and was cleansed by the tomato juice. The dumplings was just the beginning. The thick luxurious lamb chops coated with eggplant labneh pair paired well with bulgur pilaf, giving you a heartful and savory bite. The lamb chop was well done instead of medium rare. However, it was still delicious. And last but not least, the Guveg for two-- another heartwarming dish but with slow cooked tender beef stew. The theatrics of the staff sawing off the pie pastry was satisfying. It was a great finish with pickled bell peppers and orzo rice. Staff was friendly and attentive with our request. For parking, there is tons of space on Bryant street. Brannan street meter is $10 per hour.
Great atmosphere and amazing food.
Had lamb chops for the main entree. They were outstanding!

Such a great meal and experience! We were in town for a conference and went as a group of 9 and sat outside and ate family style with tapas/apps. Service- excellent!! Server knew menu inside and out and recommended quantities so everyone could try every dish. They adjusted heaters and even brought a blanket to one person who was cold. Food - so creative and tasty. My favorites were the crunchy shrimp, kebabs, eggplant (Patlican), and oysters. The trio of dips was good to share, just no stand outs for me. Similar about the Manti (dumplings) and spring salad. The only item that wasn't clean-plated (and some items we ordered more) was the Blistered Shishitos, which we had 2 of; not bad just maybe the least favorite. Overall, a meal I'll remember!

I brought some colleagues who were visiting from out-of-town to Taksim, and our dinner was one of the highlights of the week! The reservation process through OpenTable was effortless, and the Taksim team was very responsive when I reached out via direct message to adjust our reservation. Upon entering the restaurant, we were charmed by the "traditional vs. modern" aesthetic and cozy atmosphere. We were served a cup of fermented black carrot soup upon being seated to cleanse our palettes; however, I would have happily ordered a bowl to enjoy as a main course. The mezze featured so many dishes that I wanted to try, and we ordered almost one of everything: wood fired flower bread, Taksim trio dips and pita, panisse, manti, beets, and patlican. Everything was delicious - the combination of spices and textures was exceptional, and I really appreciated the creativity in their use of ingredients and presentation of each dish. We noticed that every other table ordered the Guveç stew, so we decided to try this as well. From the combination of spices to the tender meat, this dish is a must-try. We were unfortunately too full to order dessert after our meal, but I plan to try the Turkish donuts on my next visit!

Tasting menu
We opted for the tasting menu. Nice surprise and I ate things that I wouldn't normally have tasted! The meat is fantastic! Great taste experience in a beautiful setting with excellent service! The cotton candy at the end, I found that very cool!

What a lovely place! From the beautiful space with high ceilings and natural light to the delicious food, we had such a wonderful experience dining here. We had a Wednesday night reservation at 6:30pm and upon arrive the main dining room was fairly empty. With that being said, it gave us time to appreciate the space and all of the beautiful details. While I was wrapped up mostly in great conversations throughout out meal, everything we ate was so tasty! From our beautiful and vibrant amuse bouche to our final bites of dessert, not only did we leave full but also satisfied. Among my favorite bites ordered: Wood Fired Flower Bread, Crunchy Shrimps and the Manti dumplngs were among my favorite starters. As for the entrees, I could have done without the Wheatberry Risotto, but the Branzino and Lamb Chops are standout dishes I would definitely order again without hesitation! I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but as a group we ordered the Turkish Donuts which I had a taste of. The dessert was rich and decadent (and not overly sweet!) I'd recommend Taksim to just about anyone for a range of occasions and dietary accommodations. They have a little bit for everyone and with their excellent service and high quality of food, it's hard to go wrong!

Taksim is the perfect spot for an intimate dinner with friends and family! Taksim serves a modern take on turkish food with a more elevated flare on some of their dishes. Their menu is small, but mighty which I always think is a good sign of a great restaurant. They have a full menu with craft cocktails and an extensive wine list. Since this is a Turkish establishment we decided to go with a bottle of their Sevilen, which was absolutely delicious! Exactly what we were looking for and it paired perfectly with all the dishes we tried over the night. Out of the multiple appetizers I got to try, my two favorite were definitely the lamb and beef kebab and the manti, which is a homemade lamb dumpling with tomato sauce and whipped labneh. For my main entree, I ordered the lamb chops and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. They lamb was cooked to absolute perfection and the flavors in the meat were out of this world. Last but not least, service was outstanding and our waiter was an absolute joy. We did had some hiccups throughout the night about some allergies and food sensitivities, but he definitely make up for it, and make sure we were all comfortable and most importantly safe!
Taksim is the total package--from the service (impeccable)
Taksim is the total package--from the service (impeccable) to the ambiance (lovely) to the delicious eats and drinks--Taksim delivers on all fronts. Came here with a large group and Taksim kept up with our group beautifully. It's also lovely and intimate enough that it would be a wonderful date night spot as well. We ordered several dishes to start. The stars of the show were the crispy shrimp which came highly recommended and for good reason--they were delicious. The bread with spreads was also delicious as was the lamb kebab (so flavorful!). For our mains we shared the risotto and branzino, both of which were outstanding. The risotto had a nice creamy sharpness provided by the kasseri cheese and was served over a bed of perfectly cooked root vegetables. The branzino was served with anchovy rice pilaf and grilled sea beans which were the perfect slightly salty accompaniment. The cocktails were also lovely and a couple of folks in our group enjoyed their dessert options as well. Get to it!
What a delightful evening at Taksim! I visited with
What a delightful evening at Taksim! I visited with coworkers during our recent trip to SF. From the ambiance to the service to the memorable food, Taksim was five stars all around. Some favorites: * The Wood Fired Flower Bread. I wished we had gotten more than one order of this. It was delightful. * Crunchy Shrimp. Don't let the simple name fool you. These are large shrimp wrapped in kadaif, which is finely shredded filo dough, almost like a nest around shrimp. And then the sweet chili oil takes it over the top. * Oysters. These came out super cold with that delightful, fresh yet salty taste to them. Again, wish we got more than one order. * The Trio Dips & Pita. Loved the pita! * Turkish Donuts. These chocolate donuts lack in sweetness but that works because you dip them in mascarpone chantilly and medjool date chocolate sand. Their entrees were great too, but the stars for me were the apps and dessert. Our table was ready for us when we arrived, and the atmosphere just felt like upscale comfort -- an oxymoron I know but it worked after a work conference. I won't forget this meal!

Such a lavish Turkish/Mediterranean meal was new to me! The setting was rustic but elegant, the light was perfect and we were seated near the wood-fired oven, which made the perfect ambiance. Our group ordered small plates to share; but we first started with the fermented purple carrot soup as palate cleanser. It was delightful! We shared the trio of dips with pita bread, marinated olives, kebabs, chickpea fries, manti (dumplings) and our respective entrees. I ordered the branzino and it was excellent; Definitely on the salty side, but they forwarned us on the salt factor and show us how to best pair all the ingredients on the dish. It was unique and perfectly cooked. I just loved how they add a contemporary spin on the traditional. The flavors were just right and the food was filling . It's certainly not cheap to dine here, but I think you can eat well by ordering some dishes to share and maybe include an entree. The small plates were perfect for sharing.
Very disappointing and crazily overpriced
Visited a couple of nights ago. The restaurant itself was quiet and we got sat at a booth way away from other guests. The restaurant was freezing cold. An issue with the air con unit. We had to eat with our coats on. The starters were tiny and very, very expensive. We ordered 2 of the most expensive Wagyu steaks. The portions were ridiculously small. The whole plate including accompaniments was tiny. Smaller than even a child’s plate of food and for $169-$189 was just shocking. The service was good and friendly and we left a good tip accordingly. They did remove a side to apologise for the freezing cold temperature. Our meal cost nearly $600 for 2 people. We had 2 tiny starters. 2 tiny steaks. 3 sides and water… for $600. Absolutely crazy.
