First Time
Two for dinner with a reservation. Great booth to celebrate a birthday and had superb service. The place is busy and it appeared full of regulars. It has an outdoor patio if desired. Food was very good with the Branzino an red snapper as stand outs. Pricey, but worth it. Will definitely return.

Loved Tallulah and especially our server Jola - she’s a true professional! Hadn’t been here in a couple years, it was just as delicious as we remembered. Loved the Village Salad, Broccolini (ordered as an appetizer to share), homemade pastas (Lamb Ragu Pappardelle, Ravioli, Cacio E Pepe), and Seafood Risotto. Fish special sounded amazing - next time. The lively environment was a lot of fun, can’t wait to go back!

The restaurant is an example of a bistro. A kitchen right next to the dining hall, servers move fast. And it is a good bistro. Their wine recommendation worked very well and the pastas, steaks and pork chops were craftly made. Yet the price point is very reasonable for the experience. I like the foods were not salty. Even the New York strip steak was seasoned without heavy salt. My family enjoyed the music-free atmosphere. It would be a good place for a business lunch as well.

Quiet Monday night in a pretty restaurant with white table cloths and soft pinpoint lighting. I had the lamb ragu pappardelle. It was excellent. Flavorful tomato base sauce not too rich and a perfect size portion topped with fresh basil. I would order it again and again. My husband had the lamb shank slow cooked fall off the bone. He enjoyed it but a bit rich. Don't miss the cheesecake for dessert. Made in house and a marvelous light texture flavor wonderful and raspberry coulis the perfect touch. A shout out to our server Brian who was attentive and knowledgeable. We'll be back!

Very attractive place! Waiter, Yuma, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Wild shrimp appetizer was awesome. Bison short ribs tasty but fattier than one would expect. Place was busy, a bit noisy, but worth a repeat visit

Great food, good ownership and detailed menu. Servers could be a little more personable, but that is the only thing I think they could improve on. Looks a little like a restaurant in New York. Recommended.

Very Good, but pricey...esoecially wine list. Service was good even if a bit officious. I'd return. Nice outdoor seating for those rare nights that the waether cooperates, Deesert menu was uninteresting,

Very impressed with the food and service at the Tallulah restaurant in Birmingham I understand there is a new owner! Good job! Yama our server was very knowledgeable and very kind! The appetizer, burrata and the bread was good like in Italy, also the halibut prepared with mushrooms was delicious! We ll be back!
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful exception to the Detroit dining scene
We have eaten at Tallulah several times now. It really stands among a handful of Detroit area restaurants that has truly fine and interesting food, along with excellent service. It can be noisy and bistro-like crowded. If that is not your preference, go during the warmer months when you can sit outside. Also, if you are a diner that spends any amount of time thinking about portion size, as in they should be large to justify the cost, this place would not be for you – you would be missing the point. The output from the kitchen is up there with the top restaurants in the state of Michigan. The servers are extremely professional, yet not stuffy. On our most recent visit, Yoma, was extremely pleasant, adept, and very knowledgeable. Perhaps prices would be lower if the restaurant seated 200 people, but as it stands – a small bistro with outstanding food and service – feel lucky to have a seat.

Planned a ladies night out seeking great ambience, food, and fun. Tallulah definitely delivered on being a beautifully charming atmosphere With excellent service. However, we all felt it was quite pricey, with a somewhat limited variety on the menu. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the short ribs which left an unsettling after taste, so much so I could not eat them. In the end for 4 people, no appetizers, no dessert, and only 2 shared salads, main course, and wine it was $75 per person. As charming as it was not worth the price.
