Our favorite local restaurant! We are always greeted warmly, seated quickly, and taken care of. I love that there's a specials board so there's something new to try every time. The meals are delicious and presented so nicely. We like the casual atmosphere and while there is a tv near the bar, it is kept very low.

Just tried the Chicken Piccata and it was so Yummy! Tender chicken and the best pasta, served with homemade bread for soaking up the Picatta sauce. Topped off with their signature, rich and gooey Chocolate bites, perfect rainy nite dinner! Thank you, Tharios Kitchen

Love this local business! You won't meet a nicer owner & operator- father and son serve you wine as you wait. The best!!!

Our 2nd visit to THARIO's- we were there a little over a year ago when we were visiting Summerland and never forgot this place. The primavera Rosa with an arugula salad was awe inspiring! We love this place!

What a little comfy Italian spot! I came here for pizza as I was killing time for the alpaca farm nearby and was surprised at how good the food was. The place was pretty empty for the first hour of opening on a Sunday but don't let that distract you for how amazing the food is. Bread - Complimentary with some olives in olive oil. Bread was crunchy and buttery. (4.5/5) Fuego Diego - This pizza had a little kick to it from the spicy sausages. Pretty much a supreme pizza with all the awesome toppings. It's delicious. (4.5/5) Lasagna - Best lasagna I've ever had, no joke. I prob had the first batch of the day since I had to wait 30 minutes for it to be done (they told me it would take 30 minutes). Cheese game was on point and everything was just spot on. Top was crispy from the cooked cheese. A must get! (5/5) I'm surprised it wasn't too busy on a Sunday when the food is actually super good. Ofc it's not cheap, a pizza and lasagna cost me about $53. Also there was a small credit card fee ($1.50 for me). Service was comforting and they ended up giving us free chocolate heart desserts that were leftover from Valentine's Day. Worth getting!
Be the first to ReplyLovely restaurant - very private and romantic ambiance.
Highly recommend going during the evening and sitting on the patio. I love the garden feel it has, the furniture they chose is super cute. We spent our Valentines here and it was perfect. The food was very delicious, had just enough options to choose from. 10/10 service!

Stopped by after a quick stop in Santa Barbara and we were incredibly glad we did. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of our food since we were watching the Chiefs and Ravens game, but the food was amazing all around. My mom and I shared the chicken piccata pasta, my boyfriend had the shrimp and leek, while my dad got the shrimp Alfredo. Food was well portioned and well worth the price. We also ended up getting dessert, I got the heavenly bites, my mom got their mango blueberry pie and my boyfriend got the crème brûlée. The heavenly bites were bite sized molten lava cakes, and as someone that doesn't particularly like molten lava cakes in general, these were good enough for me to finish. I wish we lived closer and if we're back up here, I'd definitely come back!

Be the first to ReplyI really like Tharios.
The owners are nice and welcoming. Our food was hot and delicious. I really liked the Pizza. Carp needs BETTER pizza, not more, just BETTER. They brought us bread and olives to snack on before our food came out. My only concern was the speed of service BUT I know they were busy and short staffed so, I accept. It was also a holiday so, not a big deal. Just wanted to note that. The owner came over and chit chatted with us for a minute at the end of our meal which I always appreciate. We've been seated inside and out before both are nice, especially when the weather is nice.

Super friendly couple that owns the establishment. Just a fantastic gem of a spot.

We were heading home from the Santa Barbara Orchid Show and hungry for lunch, and we saw Thario's Kitchen off to the side as we drove down the 101. Very inviting little place, dark and cozy, and we were welcomed by the staff. Nice wines by the glass and the shrimp and mussels pasta dish was really tasty...the shellfish were cooked perfectly. My wife had the chicken piccata and enjoyed it as well. If you are ever tooling though Carpinteria and want to grab a bite you can't go wrong with Thario's,
Be the first to ReplyI ordered some food over the phone for pickup.
As my girlfriend and I walked in, I was greeted by the son. I let him know I was here for my order. A second after, we were rushed by the father... he told my girlfriend that she needed to cover up because "they're a family restaurant"... We were both so uncomfortable by his statement... My girlfriend was so appalled that she waited outside... We were both hoping that the food would be better than the service... It wasn't any better... I ordered a pizza, chicken piccata, and the polpette. The pizza was dry and tasted horrible, the polpette tasted like it had canned marinara sauce, cheap pasta, and dry "homemade" meatballs... Lastly the chicken piccata smelled and tasted rancid.. I paid $80.00 to get disrespected and have him serve us dog food. Presto Pasta serves better food...This place is mediocre...Never coming here again. :)

My family LOVES Thario's Kitchen! The owners Mario and Thais are the sweetest couple who always greet us so warmly. The food is outstanding... from having the best pizza in town to the most delicious lasagna! The atmosphere is so cozy as if you stepped into your neighborhood restaurant in Italy. Make sure to give this hidden gem a try!
Be the first to ReplyFood was phenomenal!! Everything is made to order.
Food is soooo good. The lasagña, chicken alfredo pasta, and the al diavolo pizza are a must try. Definitely, a place to try out. The environment there is so friendly and cozy. It feels as if you're at home. The waiters and owners are absolutely amazing!! We got to meet them and are so nice and appreciate their customers. Everytime we visit SB my hubby and I made it a must to visit Tharios

Service could be a little better. Just need to clear dishes faster.

I think this place has a lot of great potential of being one of the best restaurants in Carpinteria. Yet it missed the mark on flavor development. I'm a local in the town and I want my review to be tactful because it's so difficult to have a successful business in this area. Plus the owners are very welcoming and the atmosphere is so relaxing. In the least I'd like to see a lighter textured more salted pizza dough, more fresh herbs and farmers market produce in the dishes, and in house made ricotta and mozzarella, and good quality olive oil on the table. The dishes I tried were under-seasoned. For me, those adjustments would make a huge difference. I do want to return to try their lasagna because it's made to order.

We ate here last night and I can't stop thinking about it! Soooo delicious! OMG! We had a beet salad, pasta and a pizza dish on New Year's Day. We weren't expecting much, being New Year's, but oh wow we're we surprised! Homemade fresh bread, fresh veggies and exceptional, balanced flavors. The service was perfect: warm, sincere, attentive. The owner stopped by our table two or three times to check on us. No hovering, no up selling, just kindness. What a perfect way to start the new year. We will definitely be coming back soon!

A little slice of Italy in Carpinteria! Service was excellent, the owner was our waiter for the evening and was great at answering questions about the menu and making sure everything was correct. I am gluten free and he was able to help guide me in what to order, any of the pastas can be made gluten free. The gamberi arrabbiata was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for, literally ate it with just a spoon. The primavera Rosa made with gluten free pasta was one of the best pasta dishes I have had, perfectly balanced and the pasta was al dente and the veggies fresh. Feels like a little quite cozy restaurant in Italy, complete with the whole family working. Must try when in or driving through Carp!

My book club met here and I had the pasta Bolognese which was delicious. We also ordered excellent garlic bread. The portions were generous and I took some pasta Bolognese home to my husband who immediately fell in love with it. We have ordered it many times since. I have also tasted and loved the eggplant parmigiana and the spaghetti with meatballs.

Be the first to ReplyThario's is the best Italian food in the county.
I have been there several times now and each visit has been great. Service is on point. Get there early if you want Lasagna (their staple in my opinion) as it sells out most days. Everything is fairly priced and their specials are also very good. Olives and bread for the table is a nice touch as well. 5/5

Decided to try out Thario's after reading so many great Yelp reviews! Made reservations, as suggested, in case they were busy. We were seated right away on their cute outside patio. Server was the owner/chef. Super nice guy! It was great he took our order because we were able to ask specific questions about ingredients/how things were made, etc...We ordered their famous lasagna, margherita pizza, Insalata pizza and heavenly chocolate bites with scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert! Everything was amazing! You can taste the handmade freshness of all of the ingredients (down to the pasta in the lasagna, tomato sauce, pizza dough, etc...). Prices are on par with the quantity & quality you get! You won't be disappointed! Love supporting mom & pop businesses!
