The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, Autograph Collection Denver Reviews from The Last Year
Attended an event here.
The one thing about coming here is that the parking situation is tight. They have valet parking but they don't validate parking for all events. So you have to look for street parking or a parking garage. The food was average. The salad was lackluster. My steak was very well done but luckily the salmon was fine. Dessert was good. Nothing stood out. Servers were nice.
My Family went to The Brown Palace for a Mother's Day
My Family went to The Brown Palace for a Mother's Day Brunch and it was great! It was a buffet inside of the hotel, im sad i didnt get a picture of the inside of the actual hotel cause it looked so historic and was so beautiful. The food was great, some of it included fried chicken, freshly cut meats, salmon, potatoes, baked Mac& cheese, plenty of breakfast options like fruit, pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs, and quiche. There's a station to have an omelet and waffles made fresh for you as well. All that I listed wasn't even half of the food that was there. The dining room we got sat it was lovely and had a live Jazz band playing. The waiters were all so professional but personal. The chandeliers and art on the wall were lovely as well. The desserts are in a whole different area and they had the cutest Mother's Day desserts, along with mini cookies, mini keylime pie desserts, crème brûlée, mousse, and way more. We had such an enjoyable experience here. The ONLY reason it's not 5 stars is it's pretty pricy for a buffet, coming in at about $120 per person. If that price is worth it to you then I'd definitely recommend this place!
Bucket List Stay & Tea
I’ve been wanting to stay here and have high tea with my family for years. And when it finally came together it was even better than I had imagined. The Saturday night jazz ensemble was fantastic and we lucked into a Mariachi band on Cinco de Mayo. And of course the tea was phenomenal. Our room was an executive king, big enough for a roller bed for the kids. The marble rain shower was perfect. Would definitely recommend
Quick staycation
I booked the room at the Brown Palace because my niece always wanted to stay there and we have never been. I have to say the beds were amazing and the overall charm of the hotel didn't disappoint. The live music downstairs was a nice surprise. The breakfast at Ellyngtons was even better than the Four Seasons! The location is perfect for a quick walk to a lot of restaurants. I would definitely stay again! There was a hickup with our reservation so I decided to contact the online chat to resolve the issue. The person on the other end of that chat turned out to be an amazing human. Not only he resolved my issue, he paid extra attention, was very responsive and took care of everything. Mitch Clark not only met but exceeded all of my expectations! It is hard to find people who care and take pride in their work so please hold on to him! Overall all of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating FYI
This review is for Afternoon tea.
The tea service is perfection. Everything was delectable. The waiter was helpful and professional.
Great staff & meeting place
The staff at The Brown Palace went above and beyond to ensure our 3 day meeting was a big success! Everyone complimented the food and when we had a last minute request or change the staff would quickly pivot and accommodate. Adrian was especially friendly and checked in with me to see if there was anything needed. A true servant attitude!!
Was great now sucks…
Was once an icon has become a chain run dump… Front of house completely inept on check in… Poor valet only one on staff … He apologized many times… Food really inedible…. Only bright side was Danny the bartender…. Room sucks… Nothing works… AC won’t shutdown… Ceiling Fan doesn’t work…. Avoid at all costs Should have gone with my first choice Four Seasons…. Never Again….
We had a work event here and I stayed for two nights.
Even though I'm a local Ive never been to the Brown Palace. Overall, it was a pretty cool spot. I heard my room was bigger than some of my colleagues so I guess I got lucky. I loved the history architecture. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good too. My only complaint was I heard drilling at 5 or 6 in the morning.
Incredible Hospitality
Beautiful hotel, cozy hotel room, but I was most impressed by the hospitality of the staff. Younis from the culinary team was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The food was so much better than your average hotel food, with lots of variety and a good mixture of nutrients and indulgent items to choose from. I told him how happy I was with the food and he beamed with a humble and excited smile. This was my first ever business trip (for which I was very nervous) and his hospitality and positive energy made me feel right at home. He even went out of his way to bring me a side of lemons from the kitchen when I asked if there were any for our buffet spread. Another incredible standout was Mallory from the front desk. I stumbled in on my first night (after one too many High West Espresso Martinis) , hungry after traveling all day and having my luggage stolen and asked if it was possible if they had any snacks. I think her exact words were "I got you girl" as she turned toward the back room. To my surprise and elation, she reemerged with lunchables, a caprisun, a bottle of water, and a pack of mini chocolate chip cookies. Totally made my night, and set the mood for the rest of my stay. Later I learned that those were not from hotel inventory, but she had given me her own personal lunch. What an angel! Can't wait to find an excuse to go back to Denver so I can stay here again.
My husband and I stayed here on our first visit to Denver.
It's pretty convenient to get to from the train station; there's a bus stop a few blocks from the station and you can use your train ticket, or you can use the free mall bus. When I read that it was a 100+ year-old hotel and that it was haunted, I was sold! This is a beautiful old, well-kept hotel with a stunning glass mosaic ceiling and atrium. They offer afternoon tea and live music during the day. I'm sure that it's lovely during the holidays! All of the staff we talked to were very nice and accommodating. Our King room was spacious, upgraded but still with personality and historical charm. I never heard any noise from neighboring rooms or the street, and during our snowy visit, we were able to keep it comfortably warm. One of the reasons I picked the hotel (besides ghosts) was the location, and that it had multiple bars, restaurants and coffee shops onsite. Unfortunately, everything in the hotel closes so early that we weren't able to get any nightcaps after sightseeing and dinners. Even Ships Tavern closed disappointingly early. It's in a quiet, financial-district area that is pretty dead on the weekends, so it was hard to find late night eats or nightlife close by. We managed to find a late spot in the nearby 6th Street Mall, which was also really convenient for any travel items, souvenirs, or warmer clothes we needed. All in all, I'm glad we stayed here! We loved Denver and that this was part of the experience!
This place gives me Titantic vibes.
On the outside you have Mr. Belvedere that will get the door for you, and or help you with your bags etc. The hotel is drab and is in need of some upgrades. Though parts of it looks very chic. the dining area has a nice ambiance, and some of the decor are pics worthy for the gram. Theres some history to this hotel, at I forgot about it. Whats cool about this hotel is that it connects to the Holiday Inn across the street. The bridge has beautiful views of the city although its a view from the 2nd floor. They had afternoon tea, its a little expensive for what you get. The service is ok and sometimes a little non existent. Some of the gals, seem a bit uptight. The price tag to stay here, is not worth it. Maybe Ill give it another chance, if they do upgrades.
Disturbing Experience
Where do I even start with the disaster that is the Brown Palace. I saw the article from Westword that several employees were laid off. However, I've wanted to stay here since I was a kid so I gave it a shot anyways. Let's just say it's painfully clear there are no bellman and it showed in the quality of the arrival experience. But genuinely that was just the tip of the iceberg. When we arrived there was mold in the shower, I couldn't even go to the bathroom wihthout feeling dirty. Additionally, the hvac was not functional so at this point we returned to the lobby to discuss the matter with the front desk. The people that were working at the front desk were very friendly and apologetic (probably the only positive experience we had at the hotel). However, they said there was not much they could do. I asked to speak with the gm, who I now retroactively know is Jana Smith and they said she was unavailable, but they gave me her card. I don't know how you can fire that many people, have this many issues with the room and not be present. It's frankly both unethical and unprofessional. We saw several homeless people roaming around the hotel and some even entered inside. Is this a hotel or a slum?! I couldn't find a single employee who works in security on the premises. The Brown Palace was an all around terrible experience and did not live up to my expectations. Jana Smith and the rest of the leadership team should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the hotel to be in state that it is.
Really, it is close to five, but not quite there.
This is an exquisite hotel with history in downtown Denver. It is beautiful inside. The breakfast we ate there is easily the best hotel breakfast we've ever had in American, better than anywhere in western or central Europe, and competitive with the best we've had in Russia or Dubai. It was just wonderful. The room was very good. The bed was very comfortable. (I can think of hotels its age in, say, Chicago or New York about which this could not be said.). The valet was efficient and the hotel staff all really very eager to provide, well, service. This is also a bit distinctive compared to fine hotels in the eastern USA. But there were a few demerits, all going to the physical state of the property. The paint above the shower was peeling. The bathroom sink fixtures leaked when used. The heating in the room couldn't seem to move above 70F although it wasn't particularly cold outside. Would I stay there again? Yes! As soon as possible.
Event at The Brown Palace
We held an event here last week. The Banquet staff all around were extremely helpful and made the event seamless. Our manager Jolin and our captain Younes were exceptional from start to finish! Without a doubt a no brainer to work with them again!
My wife and I were excited to take family here for her baby
My wife and I were excited to take family here for her baby shower for high tea. We used to live in London and have experience with afternoon tea, and had heard great things about the brown palace. The bites and tea tasted fine, but the service was abismal. They basically just left the tea and then left, we had to keep our own tea full, really no service at all. And on top of the abismal service, they add 20% by default, maybe that explains the complete lack of service?
Management lacks
Had an issue with a charge added to my credit card. Called to have it fixed and the front desk person Jerry was very short and dismissive, asked to speak to the General manager Jana. Transferred to her voice mail and left a message, a week later no response. I call back and told I can't speak to her or even be transferred to her voice mail that I need to speak to HR. Issue has not been resolved. We are Bonvoy members who will never stay at a Marriot again till this is resolved. Unbelievable experience. We live in Denver and I would never go back and spend my money to get treated like this.
Janice the General Manager will not return calls.
Left a message over a week ago, when I call to follow up I'm told she does not take calls and I can talk to HR. Understand things happen but you are defined in how the situation is resolved. In this case they would rather ignore it then help. All over an unauthorized charge on my credit card. We are Bonvoy members no more. This is a Marriot property managed worse than a Days Inn. Save your Money. Jerry at the front desk needs a new Job in how he speaks to you. Janice does not seem to care and it shows with how the staff treats a paying customer.
We enjoyed the music and the incredible service from Hiwat
We enjoyed the music and the incredible service from Hiwat and Asnaku. Both are dedicated and customer oriented people who go out of their way to make you feel special. The chamomile tea and the red wine from Napa Valley hit the spot. Thank you for a great vacation
If you want a good sleep, stay at another Marriott hotel.
I was looking forward to staying here because it is very close to my office. Check in was normal, nothing special. I was on the 7th floor which I thought was great, but my room had arched windows, but only half on both ends of the room not providing much light or views. The ironing board, which I think hasn't been replaced since the hotel was built. It was basically like ironing on metal when ironing my shirts. Also, the iron had melted fabric on it from the previous user which added another level of excitement. The bed was stiff, and not comfortable at all. I've stayed at the Sheraton, AC, and Residence Inn in Downtown Denver, and this by far was the worst sleep. My first morning it took a good 10 minutes for my shower to get hot. I know it's an older hotel, but I was surprised by this. I talked to the front desk and was told this trick, which worked. Turn on the shower, turn on the sink water, and flush the toilet. This worked and the shower got hot in 1/5 the time. Other things were a miss like one of the floor lamps didn't work. One of the reading lamps on the bed didn't work. And the bathroom sink cold faucet handle was loose and you could spin and spin the handle off if not careful. I liked that there was a ceiling fan. The TV was older, but the infotainment software was one of the best with a lot of streaming options - that was a plus. Cool hotel with history, but won't be staying there again.
Just spent over $1,000 on dinner for 4 at The Arms
Just spent over $1,000 on dinner for 4 at The Arms restaurant bc my in laws are visiting and are excited to stay here for their 50th wedding anniversary . Unfortunately one of the wait staff (Caucasian male about 30 yrs, black hair, tall, skinny) came out to our table to drop off something and without any prior interaction/ provocation, decided to mock my 80 yr old MIL by commenting on parts of a story she told. He repeatedly said "you're so classy...I just want to tell you how classy you are..." loudly and sarcastically. None of this was warranted. It was really surprising to have this happen. McDonalds service would have been kinder, more appropriate, far less expensive and delivered with far more class.
Wanted to love it. Needs work.
I really wanted to love this place-- I remember staying here when I was younger over 20 years ago and it was an incredible luxury hotel. Unfortunately it appeared that my room hadn't been renovated in about that amount of time. Room-- I was upgraded to a junior suite due to my status with Marriott. Off to a good start. Walking in you are staring at a minifridge just sitting in the middle of the entryway which was odd-- usually they are tucked into a cabinet. Living room was decorated fine but every piece of furniture was chipped or nicked. Bedroom was fine-- the mattress was older (a little hard for my taste) and bed linens not to the standard of a Sheraton or Westin. Again-- all the furniture was worn. Bathroom-- big shower which was nice but plumbing was old and hard to use. Temperature adjustments took a couple minutes of playing with both spigots. Rainfall shower coupled with a normal shower head. Also some wall mounted shower heads. A nice experience when you figure it out but old and needs to be updated. Lobby- spectacular. Even if you don't stay here go for a drink or the afternoon tea to experience it. Ship Tavern-- lovely. Had dinner here one night and the turkey club was excellent and the drinks were good and well priced. They look very short staffed though-- the poor bartender was running around a lot. Churchill Bar-- love the concept of having a smoking room (not many hotels do these days) but this room needs a massive renovation. The bar itself looks very dated (light colored wood thats showing a lot of wear) and there are wires that go do the tvs and cashier computers just hanging about. Bar stools are these weird ones you see at an outdoor store for use at home. Just wasn't the upscale, cozy hotel bar experience I was hoping it would be. Overall would I stay again? Possibly. The price was very good and made it hard to nitpick. But I really wish they would put some money into this gem of a hotel. Its being really run pretty hard right now on some very old furniture and fittings. The rooms (if they are like mine) need a gut renovation to come up to standards.
Beautiful place to visit and stay.
I really enjoyed my time there. Mallory was especially helpful sorting out the issue with my registration. I would definitely love to come back.
New Year's Eve Stay
This Historic Hotel in the heart of Downtown Denver was a magical experience. It was decorated for Christmas and it is just beautiful. The staff were all very friendly. I can't wait to stay again. The restaurants in the hotel were convenient as we wanted to grab a drink before going to dinner. I did wish they stayed open later so we could enjoy a nightcap.
TAKE THE TOUR IT IS SO WORTH IT!!! WOW!!!
TAKE THE TOUR!!! Even if you’re not staying at the Brown Palace - a trip to Denver is not complete without a tour by the incredible Debra. She is a WEALTH of KNOWLEDGE and a true historian. Her passion for this beautiful place will bring history to LIFE - she makes magic and wonder come alive! What an incredible and fascinating tour! Thank you Brown Palace for hosting us and to Debra for filling our hearts with even more love for this place!!!
I love this place!
Just got here last night, and a swingin' jazz combo was playing in the magnificent atrium -- it was like stepping back in time. Service at the front desk was very welcoming, and my room is spectacular, with four curved windows and period tile work in the bathroom. I had dinner in the tavern, which was excellent, and room service this morning. The lady who brought it was very personable, and the food was delicious. Tomorrow: Massage and facial in the spa, then afternoon tea in the atrium. Can't wait!
What an experience for high tea.
The tea service was above and beyond what I had expected. The scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts made the tea even better. I consider myself to be a comfortable person in any situation, but this place made me question whether I could do this every day... Every other day absolutely The staff explained each part of the services, as well as, check if we had any questions. We were able to check our coats, and luggage to relax and enjoy the beautiful ambiance, which included a harpist. A wonderful experience to do occasionally.
Brown palace is not a 4.5 star experience
This hotel does not live up to its 4.5 rating. The management, hotel cleanliness / quality as well as services offered fall way short of a 4.5 star experience. I sent the communication below to the Brown Palace General Manager, Jana Smith, as well as the Head Concierge, Zach on 6 different occasions and never received a response. Hello Ms. Smith, I had an experience that did not meet my expectations and I felt it necessary to let hotel management know about my visit. I was celebrating an anniversary with my girlfriend and we were desiring a staycation for the special event. I don’t often use Hotwire, but decided to roll the dice and book a room through their service. I wanted the nicest offering and chose the “4.5 star or above” property. After I completed my booking I was excited to see that we were staying at the Brown Palace since neither of us had stayed there before. I live in Denver and wanted to drive to the hotel and place some nice gifts and amenities in the room as a surprise for my girlfriend. I called before driving down and spoke with Adriana at the Brown Palace front desk. Adriana informed me that I was welcome to drive down and have an early check-in and she informed me that I would get one of the remodeled / updated rooms. Upon arrival, I learned Adriana was off-duty to which Kennedy helped me with my check-in. I was informed by Kennedy that there were no updated rooms available. I was very disappointed since I had read the reviews and Adriana was so wonderful in talking up the updated room. Kennedy told me the only updated room available was a suite on the 9th floor for $250 more than what I had paid. I felt like this was a bait-and-switch given my discussion with Adriana and I felt like I had already had an updated room available for me, per Adriana, at the rate I booked with Hotwire. I begrudgingly accepted the upgrade Kennedy was offering. I placed my gifts in the room and quickly left the hotel to reunite with my girlfriend. We both checked-in around 4:00 and got ready for dinner and a comedy show. We were excited to return to the hotel that evening to have a cocktail at one of the renowned bars in the hotel. We arrived back at the Brown Palace promptly at 9:30p that evening and were greeted at the Ships Tavern with “I’m sorry, we’ve already done last call but The Churchill is open until 11:00”. We then walked to the Churchill only to be told they were closed for the evening. Again, this was a disappointing experience since Kennedy had handed us the “Dear Valued Guest” letter upon check-in and which clearly stated the hours and we had planned accordingly. I’m attaching pictures I took of Suite 915. I do not believe this was a 4.5 hotel or experience.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
