Menu changes slightly due to local availability of ingredients (my thoughts in looking at recent history of menus) Food - top notch, top quality, and flavor. Ala carte, so a $21 burger is just the burger. But, oh, what a burger.... Burger, with fig jam, was the best burger I have ever had. Rib meat, brisket, chuck roast ground 'burger' meat was the most flavor ever experienced in ground hamburger meat. Like right off the farm, fresh, flavorful, melt in your mouth likely 1/3 to 1/2 pound. Topped with a subtle sweet bacon fig jam, smooth triple cream Brie, mustard aoli, and crisp arugula. All on a whole grain bun with one half of a giant pickle on top of the bun, then stabbed through the heart with a large steak knife. A meal when paired with a starter for the table of $10 beer-battered crispy pesto fries and angel hair swiss cheese. Not soggy like most garlic or pesto fries due to the care in assembly and fresh ingredients, not some store bought wet pesto. Yep, this burger and fries deserved the time to write this. Local sourced Beet salad, $17. A nice light meal for the vegetarian in your party, but I want this next time. Red beets, fresh and flavorful. As was the arugula, golden beets, chioggia beets, asian pears, etc. A couple of bites convinced me this is a must try someday. Very pretty dish, great presentation. Southern fried Mary's chicken breast with bone in leg. $27. Baby (true babies) carrots on the bottom, next comes mashed potatoes, then the chicken and bacon gravy lightly topping off the top. Bar $8 craft beers are all good, ciders too. Fabulous mixed drinks about $14 are well presented just like the food. Staff - top notch casual, too casual if you ask me at these prices. I go to BBQ's better dressed. I can't think of anywhere so casually dressed. Not even Taco Bell. Otherwise, as stated, top notch. Ambiance - American bar restaurant, strip mall, clean but basic bathrooms, 2, gender neutral). No decorations, nothing unique, nothing fancy. Very bust at 1700 on a Friday evening, 45 minute wait, no place to sit (small bar was full), outside sidewalk (no place to sit) was typical swarms of mosquitos due to all the rains. Inside was wall to wall people, glad flu season has wound down.... Overall way above average food, high price, in a too casual atmosphere. Will go again for next years birthdays or special occasion. I have to try that beet salad.... Food 5 star, minus 1 star for ambiance. You have to try this place at least once.
