The Chequers Inn is a traditional Inn with a Thatched roof
The Chequers Inn is a traditional Inn with a Thatched roof hidden through some trees on the outskirts of the small village of Thompson. It has an extensive menu as well as themed specials night, such as Monday night which is Pie Night. The food is reasonably, I order the Hunters Chicken which was around about £9.The food was quickly served and all the members of staff that I came into contact with were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was well cooked and a big enough portion to fill you up without you needing more, or leaving too much left on your plate. The drinks range is also extensive.Overall a great pub/restaurant. The only negatives I would say is that there is room to improve some areas such as the Beer Garden which is lacking some care and attention and also a few other areas. I would certainly visit again, but some small improvements could be easily made.

In a village setting, the ceiling in front of the bar is barely 6ft high and, on the day of my visit, a shooting party, all of whom were around 6ft in height were variously crouched and seated in the small room. There are a couple of dining areas (one with a very high ceiling - into the rafters!) and the place looks as though it's well worth a return visit. Excellent pint of Mauldon's Silver Adder served by a friendly barman
