Consistently Good Comfort Food
The restaurant isnโt fancy or pretentious, itโs just a nice clean and consistently good place to eat. The breakfast food is exactly what youโd want it to be and the lunch food is consistently good.

We loved this cute diner near the Como area. Adorably decorated, spacious & clean. We had our anniversary brunch here. They were so nice to give us a glass of champagne & a cupcake to celebrate. Our food was fresh & delicious. I had the country quiche, my husband had the classic(. Eggs, potatoes & bacon) and we shared one of their huge cinnamon rolls. Great food! Thank you!

Exceptional brunch experience at The Copper Hen in Minneapolis! The brioche cinnamon roll was not only enormous but also incredibly delicious. The beef and egg brunch dish was a perfect balance of flavors. The espresso martini was phenomenal โ a must-try! A special shoutout to the owner for the personal touch, stopping by our table to ensure everything was perfect. Five stars for fantastic food, delightful drinks, and outstanding hospitality!

Great dinner. Loved everything, especially the espresso martini. Pot pie was unique. Ended with the skillet cookie. Will go again
Be the first to ReplyCold Eggs, Undercooked Bacon
We were really excited to try this place, because of the reviews. I thought it was a little overpriced, so we tried brunch, which was a little more reasonable. While the cinnamon roll was delicious, my eggs were cold, the French toast was soggy and not cooked all the way through, and the bacon was way undercooked. They should not have even brought it out of the kitchen. They took the bacon off the price of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyRude waitress
We came in a group of 9 people and the waitress Elisabeth was SO RUDE. Although the space was not very busy it took them a lot of time to tend to us a group. Her attitude the entire afternoon was as if we were somewhat of a bother to her. 0 niceties. 0 genuine interaction. I decided to add less than 10% of tip because of that and she came to the table, after all afternoon being so impolite and agrees Iโve. She came to the table to confront me and ask me why I had left less. When I told her that is what I wanted to leave based on her interactions with us, she got upset with me and started to fill our glasses, again, in a non polite ways. The food was good, tasty and the place is awesome but she made our afternoon so unpleasant and uncomfortable. I understand that this job must be tired, stressful but I donโt understand how a person can be that unfriendly and unkind just because. What a unfortunate experience.

Nice place with a lot of character. The service was good and the AC worked well. The only detractor is that the place was really loud, but that is due to the young customer base.
Be the first to ReplyA nice find despite the purposely dreadful ambience
The ambience appeared purposely negligent, as if varnished slatted picnic tables, and mason jar water glasses and water glasses for wine are cool as well as a QR code so you can get the menu on your iPhone. Many adults don't find this cool. However, our server was personable and helpful with the menu and took good care of us. And getting a $14 bottle of wine for $30 in a restaurant these days makes up for the water glasses it was served in. On the other hand $8 for a bread basket served as a starter? And burnt around the edges, OK, purposefully burnt. The roasted beet salad was very good and with the bread served the four of us amply. 4 different mains all very good but one appears to have had an accident in preparation. Monk fish, very nice, Chicken Pot Pie, a gourmet version (if such a thing is possible), the short ribs very nicely done but the duck breast--we were forewarned by the server that some customers had complained it was chewy (AKA rubber duck). But it wasn't chewy and would have been a delicious presentation had the chef not accidentally (I'm certain) dropped half a box of salt on it. The member of our party who ordered it wolfed it down anyway, and belatedly asked me to taste it. It was so salty, if I had ordered it, back it would have gone. 2 cupcakes finished the four of use off. All in all, despite the reverse ambience, we were pleasantly surprised by our experience and will no doubt return.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service cold good
Appetizer croquembouche was so hard couldnโt cut it. Bitter cranberry sauce. Food took an hour to come out and was served cold. In a cast iron skillet. Those things hold heat forever. Server never asked how it was and took an extra 20 minutes to return with credit card receipt to sign. Avoid.

We were visiting MSP for the holiday weekend and decided to eat at this restaurant because the hotel recommended it. We called ahead to make reservation just in case there was a wait due to the holidays. Upon entering the restaurant, we were seated immediately and began to order with our waitress. The waitress seemed to be in a bad mood she was very nappy and rushing our table with our food order. So, we ordered a few bottomless mimosas and asked for a few minutes to review the menu because it was our first time at this restaurant. She rolled her eye and said OK, I'll get the mimosas started at the bar and hopefully you'll be ready to order when I return then she walked off. We all just looked at each other like did we do something to piss her off by wanting more time to review the menu, WOW. So, she came back with our bottomless mimosas and we ordered The Cooper Benedict, brioche cinnamon roll, bread pudding French Toast, lemonade and lavender lemonade. She took our order and left for about 15 minutes and when she returned, she had our drinks. I received my lavender lemonade but I didn't taste any lavender and it looked like regular lemonade that my friend had so we asked the waitress helping the table next to ours because we couldn't find our waitress. About 11 minutes after our waitress returned to our table and asked how was everything, I explained to her than the lemonade was not lavender and I had told the other waitress. Her not knowing I saw the other waitress go to her outside and tell her something but I didn't mention it, but I saw it with my own eyes. So, she said a few times you want more lavender in a rude tone when I know the other waitress told her that I didn't think that was the right lemonade. So, I mind you that the restaurant was packed and we couldn't ever hear our own conversations so I didn't hear her about more lavender. So, we took the lemonade and when to get more lavender. Mind you that wasn't lavender lemonade it had NO TRACE OF the color PURPLE IN THAT GLASS. So, she bought the glass back and place it on the table and again rolled her eyes and asked was that enough lavender now. I just said yes, and drunk my lavender lemonade. About 6 minutes after that she returned with our food orders. The English muffin was over toasted and very hard to cut, but the poached egg and hollandaise sauce was excellent. The brioche cinnamon roll was very good as well as the bread pudding French Toast. Since everything was tasty except the bread on the eggโs benedict, we wanted to order some cupcakes. But we haven't seen the waitress for over 10 minutes now, so I asked the other waitress across from us again to assist us with ordering some cupcakes and mason jar cakes. So, she helps us and then our waitress came from outside and asked if we wanted to order some cupcakes. So, we said yes but we want those to go, she said OK very rudely. And at this point I just told her the flavors and went to the hostess stand and asked for a manager. The lady standing with the hostess said I'm a manager how can I help you. I said I think we need another waitress because I don't know why this waitress is so rude to us from when we sit down to now and the other waitress at the table on the side of us has been helping us. The manager apologized and asked us to work with her because the had system issues earlier and she was probably stressed from that. I said I understand system issues but she don't have to take it out on us we didn't do anything to the system. So, I told the manager I accepted her apology for the behavior of our waitress and we would try to work with her rude attitude. She came back a little nicer with the mason jar cakes and cupcakes but now it was time for us to leave and be over this horrible experience. I tipped the other waitress a generous tip considering she wasn't out waitress, but she helps our table a lot because our waitress was outside working those tables. We also left our waitress a smaller tip because she was very rude the entire time and really shouldn't have been tipped at all. Upon returning to my hotel to eat my cupcakes I ordered, I was disappointed with the cupcakes they were dry and had a gritty texture. However, the mason jar cake was great and very tasty. If I'm in the area I may order something to go due the previous experience with service at this restaurant.

We visited the Minneapolis Institute of Art in the morning and hit the Copper Hen for a spectacular break. My husband is a connoisseur of biscuits and gray and theirs lived up to his test. The fresh lemonade with various types of syrup was a highlight as was the Cinnamon roll we shared as a starter. The restaurant was a bit noisy but the 30 somethings people watching made up for it. Highly recommend!
