The Court of Two Sisters New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Made reservations for what was deemed a jazz brunch, which
Made reservations for what was deemed a jazz brunch, which was a bit underwhelming. We arrived at 10:30am to find the buffet was mostly lunch with just a few traditional breakfast dishes. The jazz band arrived around 10:45 and could barely be heard at our table toward the back of the courtyard. Despite the disappointing selection of dishes, the service was good.
The food is outstanding! It's a beautiful restaurant.
The table made Cesar's salad was reminiscent of the best restaurants-not done anymore. A wonderful treasure!
The courtyard is really lovely.
The servers were polite and were doing their best. The food was not even remotely the level of quality and taste we have had at other restaurants in New Orleans. Food was Cold and boring, I was super disappointed with the experience as this is supposed to be a "great restaurant", and it was not cheap. It's a miss.
A place you need to go once for the Jazz Brunch and then
A place you need to go once for the Jazz Brunch and then can move on to other places. The is OK, but to site outside or in the Terrace Room is something you have to experience once.
I really wanted to give a great review as I was looking
I really wanted to give a great review as I was looking forward to this Jazz lunch. Very few things were good. Food - overcooked and dry, the prime rib was literally shredded beef once sliced - fell apart into shreds. The only items that were of any good were the soup, the ordered items from the kitchen and the dessert. All the entrees otherwise were horrible. Service - started off decent until they pulled our server to the bar leaving us with no one. Trying to get a coffee at the end of the meal took 20 minutes and three different requests. Lastly the Jazz - being there for close to an hour and a half, maybe heard about 20 minutes of quiet Jazz. The trio moved room to room and you could not hear anything unless they were with you - been to other Jazz brunches where at least you could hear the jazz anywhere in the restaurant. Overall a disappointment unfortunately.
Very Mediocre & Disappointing! I was so looking forward to
Very Mediocre & Disappointing! I was so looking forward to this restaurant, but it was a let down from the beginning. We had reservations for 7:30pm they didn't seat us until 8pm, ordered a cocktail from the bar and a Sazerac at that "the official drink of New Orleans" they didn't even chill the glass. It took another 10 plus minutes to get water. Finally ordered my $30 shrimp and grits and it was so average. Setting was pretty and that's about all I can say positive. Mediocre at best!
Excellent service, great variety of food and drink. Many many choices of food for all tastes/diets.
We reserved this restaurant for the jazz brunch on our last day. The service was excellent from our waiter. We opted to eat inside which was great and near to the music. The food was very varied and tasty. Plenty of choice, lots of variety of drinks as-well. We would definitely recommend
Jazz Brunch - best so far!
We stopped in here for a Wednesday Jazz Brunch. Nice vibe. There is a courtyard and also inside seating. You can make reservations but we didnโt. Some dishes we tried: gumbo, turtle soup , shrimp pasta, shrimp รฉtouffรฉe (this was better at Motherโs restaurant, cornbread (huge pieces..ours was dry and crumbly), pecan pie, bread pudding, and bananas foster. Itโs our fav restaurant in New Orleans so far. Our server Merlin even cared is down to return a bag we forgot. Good service and we left stuffed!
A Disappointing Experience at a New Orleans Iconic Location
This venue is past its glory days. It is still crowded, but I feel that is more from traditional reputation than any current excellence. The tables are packed in so tightly that the waiters cannot always get past without bumping chairs, and the noise from other tables is distracting. The experience would be ten times better if they took out some tables. Cocktails were not good. Appetizers (bacon wrapped duck) was very good, but that turned out to be the highlight. Entrees were average or below average. We left without even trying dessert because the experience was so disappointing. We had four dinners in the French Quarter, and this was by far the least impressive.
Not a big fan.
We went and it wasn't really busy yet we couldn't get the waiter to bring us things for forever. We almost finished eating before we got our drinks. My husband never got his and I was charged for a tomato juice and got a Bloody Mary mix that was so gross. Would love to try again but we are here on vacation.
If you're into buffets with a huge variety, then this is
If you're into buffets with a huge variety, then this is for you. The service was okay, the food was mediocre at best. I think it was a bit overpriced for each person. $36 is a bit much in my opinion. The red beans and rice were really good, along with the creamed spinach.
Disappointed
Let me start by saying that I have never gone to the trouble of writing a review. People be warned. First of all it beautiful outside in the lighted court yard. I have been the New Orleans before but we took our friends from UK. Service was good. We ordered some wine and then dinner. The veal Oscar is described in the menu has a cutlet and at 40.00 should have been. But it was not a cutlet the chief came out and said we were right it was not and did we want anything else. All handled well. Then my drum fish had not brown butter as described but after a long wait and my husband going in I finally received the 4 lemons I needed. Then there were the rats running around. 4 in total. We actually laughed with the staff about them. But it was a very disappointing 250.00 dinner. But ratatouille might be on the new menu.
Great way to sample the local cuisine
A great way to try different local cuisines. Very tasty and fresh food buffet. Great music and courtyard was fantastic.
Courtyard Brunch
Minus one star because it was supposed to be a jazz brunch but the band maybe played 20% of the time we were there. The court yard was beautiful and the service was really good. I enjoyed the buffet!
Super conflicted on the rating I want to give.
Food was average at best. Everything on one bar (with the grits and red beans and rice) was cold...not lukewarm, just plain cold. All the other food was warm, not hot at all. I get it, it's a buffet but eating hot soup and hot meats would have been nice. The service....our actual waiters were ok. 2 gentlemen took care of us. One spilled water and ice on the table while he was pouring my water and didn't bother picking up the ice. I didn't know what to do with it so I scooped it on my plate. Attentive, yes but just ok. The service at the buffet line was terrible. I stood in front of the guy carving the meat and he ignored me. My boyfriend walked up and said hello to him and he ignored him too. The toothless carver (he was missing his front top teeth) called 2 other guys over to him and they were talking to each other as me and my boyfriend just stood there. He finally served us after he finished his conversation. I walked down the line to get the gumbo and all three men stood behind the line talking about a woman in the dining room. They were making inappropriate comments about her and one said "are you trying to get up beat up". So gross. The same carving man walked back and forth across the courtyard and spit on the ground each time he walked by (we were seated facing the courtyard). The jazz part was fine and it was a cute place inside (it was raining out). I would never go again. $100 for lukewarm & cold food, watching staff spit in the courtyard and inappropriate staff ogling & commenting on women during brunch is not my thing.
Make sure you make a reservation on their website the day
Make sure you make a reservation on their website the day before! If you make a reservation on a Friday, it will be confirmed on a Monday. Plan accordingly. Brunch is from 9AM - 3PM, and I did not have a reservation, but thank God I was seated as a solo traveler after all the reservations at 9AM were seated. The Southern hospitality shows here. The wait staff were very friendly and professional. Glenda was my server and she was really nice to tell me her favorites, which I tried for my second trip through the buffet. Drinks are extra - an orange juice was $3.00. Definitely worth the trip to try New Orleans cuisine. I can't wait to come back with my husband... and I'll definitely will make a reservation so I don't wait for 15-20-minutes as the reservation groups are seated.
Great visit for brunch
The brunch here was delicious! We sat in the courtyard and listened to live jazz music. The atmosphere was amazing. The brunch is served as a buffet with several options to choose from. I believe we paid about $45/person including tip for 4 of us. Alcohol was not included. If you pay with cash itโs a little cheaper than credit card!
Good Food and Nice Ambiance
Went for dinner and really enjoyed it. Restaurant had a nice open-air setting with twinkling lights. I had the crabcake entree with Corn Maque Choux and my wife had the Veal Oscar. We both enjoyed our meals very much; they were very tasty and cooked perfectly. For dessert, we had Bannas Foster. It was delicious and it was fun to see it being prepared tableside. Most entrees are in the $30 dollar range and the Bannas Foster was $12. There are specialty cocktails available and a good selection of wines to choose from for your meal. Our waitress was excellent, attentive and very personable. Reservations are not necessary, but it is good idea to get one. From our experience, I would recommend this restaurant for dinner.
A sure bet for lunch!
Took the advice from our concierge to have lunch here. Well worth the visit. Great staff, hospitality, sumptuous buffet and open air experience with live jazz music. Our host, Gilda, made it a great experience!
Must try brunch
We did the jazz brunch buffet and it was amazing!! The food was great and the service was even better!! Merlin was our server and he was so kind and friendly!!
