Not what it used to be!
It was my habit to go to this restaurant . Aways ordered their center cut filet which was fabulous. so that is what we did. asked our waiter for the center cut filet for 4 people. which makes a good ticket for a waiter. not cheap skates for sure. We received instead the cheapest cut of meat there is. a flank steak and was charged $42.00 per flank steak. When I complained they said the waiter didn't know. (He should know especially its their only steak.). We asked for Tanqueray drink and they substituted Tanqueray 10 without consulting us and when we complained we were told we didn't know what we were talking about. They argued about it and they could not have been more wrong. I have started 7 restaurants , 2 were fine dining French restaurants. I'm not finished. so disgusted with the meat they brought I asked them take it back and I would have a hamburger. WHAT COULD GO WRONG? after only one bite I found a long hair not my color in my hamburger. They took that back. I lost my appetite. My husband was drinking a drink and he was not finished and a waiter just swooped in and took it without asking. They said they did have that center cut filet but at one of their other restaurants. So they knew? Regulars who order the same thing every time they come don't read the menu. even then the waiter had to say simply we have no center cut filet. how easy is that.?Its not a sin to not know but its bad to make a regular feel like its their fault. No consideration was given us for their mistakes. One free drink? a single dessert . the smallest thing would have helped but instead we were just customers that were wrong. And we paid for 3 flank steaks at $42.00 a piece. Soooo disappointed.

We landed at the Honor Bar just by chance after walking around Highland Park Village. It was an extremely pleasant afternoon and we requested outdoor seating. We shared the Burrata on toast and loved it. The flavors were fresh and delicious.
My friend got the Macho salad and declared it one of the best sheโs ever had . The dressing set off the ingredients and the dates were an awesome surprise!
I ordered the pan seared ahi tuna salad. The flavors of the tuna with mango, avocado, cilantro and almond vinaigrette was fabulous. The portions were perfect for a late lunch/early dinner.
Good food, excellent people watching
This restaurant/bar is located in one of the most exclusive outdoor โmallsโ in Dallas. One will find the highest end stores here, as well as some good eating options. Our friends are regulars and their favorite foods that they ordered during our visit are the trout dip, the omelet, and the crab cake. My daughter had a salad (made vegan by the absence of cheese) and I had the crispy chicken sandwich. I had to disassemble the sandwich to make it fit in my mouth. I tasted everyoneโs dish and would call the food good but nothing exceptional. The service was outstanding and the outdoor seating charming, though cramped.

Terrible, tried to order 3 plates in the menu they were all sold out with no other options in the menu for us
Be the first to ReplyThe Honor Burger is Amazing!
The Honor Bar is located in the Highland Park Village and I have been eyeing this place for a while. We walked up with no reservation for a late lunch, so it was around a 20-30 minute wait. The patio was completely full and it would have been over an hour wait so we went with dining inside which has nice booth seating.
I really didn't know what to expect with the food, and reading through the menu I started to get a bit concerned with all of the salads on offer. The overall menu is a bit limited and I was really at a loss on what to order - other than the fries of course. We saw a lot of good reviews on the Honor Burger so got one of those, French Fries and an Old Fashioned while I mulled over the menu for a bit longer.
Finally needed the help of our server, because who else would know best about what's good here. Tossing up between the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Ahi Tuna with Shiitake Ponzu, which one has more flavour, she recommended the Ahi Tuna with Shiitake Ponzu, so went with that and hoped for the best.
French Fries ($5) - Delicious, has some nice seasoning too and got extra of that. Very crispy and yum. The sauce which comes with it is really good too.
Honor Burger ($18) - Honestly completely blown away with this. The Yelp pics deceived me and made it look like a healthy sandwich, but it's a proper burger and this was one of the most tastiest burgers I've tried. The meat was perfectly cooked and all the ingredients went together so well. This was truly amazing.
Ahi Tuna with Shiitake Ponzu ($27) - I was really expecting to be quite upset with this. $27 for a salad basically, I thought. But I was so wrong. The Tuna was delicious and perfectly seared and the real treat - the salad!! Can you believe it, the kale salad was divine. And it was so filling! I thought I'd still be hungry after this, but no - really, really good - an awesome recommendation from our server.
Old Fashioned ($15) - So, so - not the best Old Fashioned.
Quantity 5/5 - Very filling - but I actually finished it all without getting it to go - which was a first. Probably more on the lines of - it was that good I was willing to over do it.
Ambience 4/5 - Dim lit, cozy - very date night. The patio looks great too but recommend making a reservation beforehand.
Service 5/5 - I know there's a lot of comments on here about poor service, but guess we were lucky because our server was amazing, friendly and very helpful.
Spice - 0/5 - yes no spice, but still good.
Taste 5/5 - Super yum! Loved everything we tried. The meat in the burger was top quality and everything was made to perfection!!
Drinks 3/5 - Only tried the Old Fashioned.
Had a lovely time here and will definitely be back for the burger and (eek) kale salad. Overall ambience is nice too and a great place to just chill out - definite weekend spot.
Just trying to turn tables quickly
I gave 3 stars because they completely tried to rush out meal to turn the table quickly. Like 3 ppl tried to grab my plate when I was still eating and literally put the bill down when they did pick up our plates. And even worse too our drinks away (water and iced tea) at the same time! What!!!! I was so thirsty and I donโt think 1 hour and 15 minute lunch is to long. Not to mention I was seeing my step mother for the first time since covid and celebrating her birthday!!! The food was good but will mot return bc this is the 3rd time this has happened!
Be the first to ReplyGood location but your receptionists drive people away
On 11/2, your receptionist told us to wait wait 20 minutes while 3 tables were open outside. She said she has other folks ahead of us with incomplete parties but she still has to wait on them to be complete!!! what kind of logic is that???? Walked over to Mi Cocina and was served immediately. Discriminatory attitude!!!

So sorry to have to write this negative review. HOWEVER...
Although I have been a fan of this place in this past, I must let everyone know you should definitely avoid this place going forward. Here's why:
I arrived at 11:10 am for a lunch appointment and secured a table on the patio due to COVID- concerns. I am over 60 and have underlying health issues (as does my health colleague).
While there, we saw not one, but two people stroll into and stay inside the restaurant with attire that the restaurant specifically outlines on its website as off-limits (backward baseball caps, athletic wear, flip-flops, etc.). We asked the servers about it and they said, "Well, we ask people not to do that, but..."
Ah, I see. You ASK people to do it, but you don't really enforce your rules.
But it gets better. After this (mind you, we are in polo shirts and dress slacks) I am approached by restaurant personnel when we leave -- 4.5 hours after I arrived.
"Sir, do you need an Uber? We're happy to call you a ride."
"Um, I had 3 small drinks over 4.5 hours and you think I need a ride? SERIOUSLY? I was a breach baby when I was born, which causes me to walk funny (my feet pronate unlike other people's). Really? Is THAT what this is about?"
"We show you had 4 drinks."
"Um, my colleague accidentally knocked both our drinks over shortly after you served them, and you kindly replenished them. The reality is, I've had 3 drinks in 4.5 hours. Less than one drink per hour. And, I expect you to know that. And yet, you don't? SERIOUSLY?"
(Do you see any typos in this post, which I am making immediately after I returned home from this incident? Does this post appear to be one made by someone who is meaningfully inebriated? I am 65, and have never had one DUI in my entire life).
This is the same restaurant group that refused to allow their servers to wear protective masks, until those servers went berserk and social media demanded they be allowed to protect themselves. And the restaurant group eventually (under social media pressure) relented.
I sort of overlooked that incident until today, Truly, this place is a nanny/authoritarian state. Wow, I cannot believe how I was treated and I STRONGLY encourage people to stay away from this place, given my treatment there. Sad but true.
People strolling in, violating their web-site dress code, but I am treated like a law-violator when they are the ones who are unable to discern I had 3 drinks, in 4.5 hours rather than 4. WOW.
Stay away!
Great lunch place
Located in Highland Park Village. It is a really good place for lunch. Itโs location makes it upscale so be prepared for such in the pricing. They do take reservations but wonโt seat you until your entire group is present. They have a full bar but not really much space to wait. There is an outdoor patio with some seating for dining. Indoor tables are pleasant. The burger is really quite good.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is great
This place has it. Great food good location great drinks. Friendly staff enjoy the chicken sandwich. Not just any ordinary samwich. Like many of their dishes a twist and touch in the combinations that make them delicious. I can't tell you I. This review to spoil it. Start your culinary adventure by ordering drinks. Move to the appetizer the. Go for the main. You won't be disappointed. The great thing is just about everythinhpg on the menu is good. I habe ran through most of it with friends and family on multiple visits. It's that good you WILL go back.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific!
Our friends have been here many times and brought us along this time. We were thrilled at the food and the service. They had shrimp Louie salad and we had the macho salad. Both were excellent.
