The Izakaya Chicago Reviews
Great food.
Bar back was a very nice guy and let us try a couple sakes before ordering. Jewel sushi thing is solid. Fish is very high quality, but SUPER lame to charge extra for more seaweed. Comes with 12 different fish pieces and you get 6 seaweeds. Then you g
Had a birthday dinner at Izakaya Momotaro.
Start to finish the whole experience was fantastic. Izakaya has a dark basement meets neon Japan nights vibe. The drinks, dishes, and space all have an aesthetic and feast for the senses. I recommend if going with a group, splitting a couple dishes
Izakaya is a good spot.
We slid in yesterday around 530 pm and got a great spot at the bar. All the bartenders were very friendly! Enjoyed the drinks. My friend had a veggie ramen and I destroyed the Momo Royale burger! All of the above was good! Burger has like a bao bun.

Had a delicious meal at Izakaya! The vibes were dark and loud, not my fav but the food was worth it. Service was decent. I started with the Assyrtiko wine which was smooth and crisp. My husband got the matcha drink which was refreshing! We started
If I could give this zero stars I would.
Do NOT go here if you have a food allergy. They don't know what's in their food. I was assured that the entree I ordered did not contain egg. I have been very sick the last few days. Called back a couple days later and the person I talk

Came here on a Thursday night and it was packed! My first time here and the vibes were so nice, super dark and sultry. The drinks were good and the apps were tasty. Service was okay but would come back to try more things.

Came here excited to try their uni pasta and bao bun burger because I heard they're the best in the city. Walked in and waited to be seated. The host was a younger man who I had to wait 3 minutes for to finish his conversation before we could a
Too loud.
Too dark. Hamburger tasted like a big Mac. The ube drink was like a sweet protein shake. I would not return.
Sooooooo I've been here 3/4xs now.
Sat downstairs at the bar for the infamous burger. Short and sweet, the burger is a 5! Service typically a 4, tonight a 2. Here's why: We came in at 940. The kitchen closes at 10. We walked in and ordered promptly 2 burgers well done, no cheese,

Since everyone hypes this place as the best burger in Chicago, how could I not try?? This reservation is not hard to get, but not easy either. Weekends at normal times (between 5-8pm) are booked out about 1-2 months in advance, and weekdays are nor

The burger here deserves all the hype it gets! One of the best burgers I've tried in the city, with a unique bao bun. It was excellent. We also ordered some apps and the rice beef stone dish. Everything was delicious and will return to try more

Where to begin!! From the service to the food, Izakaya was the perfect experience. The waiter was attentive and made suggestions since we were dining with a big group. He was also attentive to food allergies and brought the drinks in a timely manner.
Good food and service, but can get spendy.
Small plates, good tasting menu. Not a cheap evening. The crispy fried rice was a great shareable starter. Good service, we liked sitting upstairs- tucked away a bit.
The uni pasta was so flavorful and seasoned perfectly.
However, the highlight was the momo royale burger - just a solid burger, in my personal top 2. The place itself was really loud and dark, which may or may not be a good thing depending on what you're looking for.

Yum!! We wandered in at 9pm on Saturday night and it was busy but we were able to get a seat at the bar. The bar started to clear out like 15 minutes after we got there but people still were coming in. We had the tuna donburi, the momo royale burge
Great Japanese!
Very good Japanese in Chicago. Amazing menu and great team serving the tables. Reasonable prices considering the quality!
A Vegan Walks into Momotaro… and Stays for the Zucchini
If you’ve ever been the lone vegan at a high-end Japanese restaurant, you know the routine: smile politely at the sea urchin, ask hopefully about the tempura, and resign yourself to a bowl of rice with a side of pity. But not at Momotaro. From the
Fast food quality sushi and terrible service and ambience
We'd been to Momotaro many times, with usually great experiences, so we were excited to return with a friend. Unfortunately, on a Monday evening, we had a pretty terrible experience. Food-wise: Just average. We ordered several sushi rolls to
On a whole other level.
This whole dinner will ruin you for whatever your local sushi is - no matter how highly rated. Here, it’s art and every bite more nuanced and delicious than the last. And… do not miss dessert! The team here is so talented you’ll want the whole
Best meal in Chicago
Seriously the best meal we had during our trip to Chicago. The sushi was incredibly fresh and their flavor combinations were phenomenal. Every single thing we had we loved. Would highly recommend.
Top-o-the-line modern Japanese cuisine
I have mixed feelings about our visit to this restaurant, since the food (prepared at an open kitchen) was absolutely fantastic and I am not especially a fan of seafood. We were taken there by relatives who live in Chicago, and every bite of the ext
Excellent
Excellent food in a modern and chic ambiance. Our server made the experience especially smooth by thoroughly explaining each section of the menu and how much to order for our group. Reasonably priced for a restaurant of this caliber. Truly a must-try

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Izakaya Chicago at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Izakaya Chicago page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at The Izakaya Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Izakaya Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
