Fantastic experience with amazing food and lovely staff - 5 stars!
Absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we walked into the pub it had a lovely feel to it. Beautifully decorated and had real character which my husband and I love. Really lovely staff especially Donna who was so friendly, helpful and professional. The service was fantastic and Donna made it such a lovely experience. Food was fantastic and beautifully presented. We visited with our little dog and it was lovely to meet Olly the pub’s dog who was super friendly with everyone too! We can’t wait to return when we are visiting the area again. Thank you to all the staff again ( especially Donna) for a lovely time spent with you. :) xx
Be the first to ReplyModern, refurbished village pub with rooms.
An overnight pit stop before an engagement the next day so unable to fully appraise all on offer. Modern refurbished pub and restaurant. Friendly and efficient check in. Clean and well appointed room with bathroom amenities. Comfortable bed. Tasty and well presented Full English breakfast in a light and spacious dining area. Evening menu looks delicious but I did not partake, having eaten before my arrival.
Be the first to ReplyGreat One Night Stay
Having spent the day wandering around Hereford we headed some 9 miles south to the village of Kilpeck, and the Kilpeck Inn for our overnight stay. We were unable to check in before 5pm but that was no great hardship given the things to do in Hereford. On our arrival we were met by a very friendly member of staff who showed us to our room, the Wye. This was an adequatley sized double room with views over the side car park and garden on to the open country. The room was warm and clean. Hanging space was a little limited - pegs on wall. The bathroom was compact and had all we needed. You don't require a degree to operate the over the bath shower which worked well. Given our busy day we missed out on a predinner drink and went straight to our table when eventually we went down from our room. Dining room was very nice. You did not feel hemmed in. gaian staff very friendly in taking our order. Both wine and beer were very reasonably priced. The Butty Bach was obviusyly well kept and went down too easily. For food, my wife and I shared the Foccaccia and olives. Plenty for us two. For mains we each had the rump of lamb. Incredibly well cooked, presented and eaten. To top that, if it were possible I had the Apricot drizzle Bread and Butter Pudding - my mouth is watering now as I write this and my wife had the Creme Brulee, also very, very much to her taste and she does not normally eat dessert. Fantastic dinner. Many thanks. Breakfast was excellent with cereals, yoghurt, fruit, full English and variations and porridge. We will definitely return here.
Be the first to ReplyThird time fabulous
Just returned from two nights at the Kilpeck. This is our third visit and we return because of how good it is. The rooms are comfortable and clean, very warm too ! Good selection on the complimentary tray. Thick soft towels. Very soft pillows. We had Monnow and our friends had Wye. Both lovely rooms. The food was fabulous, great choice and delicious flavours. Top quality but at reasonable prices. We are travelling the two hours to get there in a month to try more on the menu and stop over again. Down points … if I had to think of something.. can’t check in till 5pm and as we arrived on a Friday the bar didn’t open till 5 either. So had to hang around for a bit. Also there is a bush that goes over the path to the accommodation. This needs trimming or the path widening. See you again in a month.

We visited for a Sunday evening meal. Menu was good, lots of choice. Good was very tasty - lovely burger and a lamb dish that was wonderful. Service was great, friendly and helpful. Lovely building and atmosphere. It’s Dog friendly.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Sunday lunch
Taken here by a friend for Sunday lunch and was really impressed. Had eaten here on a weekend before, but not sampled the Sunday lunch. Lovely choices and really tasty and well presented food. The vegetables were top notch, too. No wonder it was busy (you'd need to book on a Sunday). Service was attentive, but friendly. Would definitely return!

Very easy to book. Saturday lunch was busy but this was not detrimental to service. Only had to wait a little for a large party to be served. Delicious local fare. Particularly good fish cakes. Car park works if you are good at doing a Rubik's cube, when busy?

Easy to book, situated in a beautiful area and is a cosy pub with a warm, embracing charm. My wife and I stayed overnight and had a wonderful time. Great selection of drinks including the local 'Butty Bach' ale which was a lovely, creamy beverage that goes down a little too well. Staff were amazing and friendly which added to the experience. The food, whilst being a little more on the pricey side, was stunningly presented, fresh and tasted divine. It is true when they say you get what you pay for and this was definitely worth it. The Inn is a little on the small side but it has a wood stove and the obligatory pub dog who is just so adorable and friendly. We would stay again just to see him again! All in all, a wonderful experience with great food, hospitality and accommodation. If you're looking for a quiet getaway for a night or two, this is the place. 5*

Fabulous food and a lovely atmosphere. We found this pub in a last minute scramble as we’d decided to surprise my mother in law for her birthday. We weren’t sure where to go so googled dog friendly pubs in the area. So glad we found The Kilpeck. Remarkably for the four of us everyone loved their food and cleaned their plate! The pistachio ice cream was the best I’ve every tasted… My only complaint would be the rather hard settle we were seated at - needs some new cushions!!

Went there for lunch today, we were greeted and served by a very friendly polite young women, nothing was too much trouble for her a real pleasure. We had the roast beef sandwiches and a side order of chips, the beef was lovely and the Rosemary salted chips were great real quality, we finished off with puddings which were delicious! We will definitely be going back to this fabulous pub.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food
Had lunch on a Saturday after a wonderful exploration of the nearby famous medieval church and castle and were most pleasantly surprised. The sort of menu where you could have chosen lots of dishes-between three of us we enjoyed bream, fish and chips and duck followed by sticky toffee pudding and a frangipane tart. We all agreed that our meals were delicious-hot, fresh, tasty, well presented and from locally sourced ingredients (where possible). Service was professional, unintrusive and friendly. The bar area where we were seated was cosy and dog friendly. Clean loos are always a good point -and not always a given, sadly. The resident spaniel was very attentive while we were eating but I think there was a bit of cupboard love going on there…Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Be the first to ReplyLovely welcome and good food
We enjoyed a really lovely early supper after a somewhat muddy walk in the glorious Herefordshire countryside. We could not have wished for a nicer welcome and service was without exception excellent. Food presentation and quality to match. Kilpeck is very worth a visit especially if you have not seen the church and the wonderful medieval carvings.

Nice drive through some lovely countryside followed by Sunday lunch at this great country pub proved to be an excellent way to spend an early Spring day. Really good food, drink and service, the roast beef in particular is delicious, a little off the beaten track but all the better for it and well worth seeking out.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food & service
I called in the afternoon to book a table, the lady was very appreciative of this as she was on her own doing table service. We we got there at 7.30 (on a Thursday), there were already people eating and a calm atmosphere (Good sign). Again the lady serving was happy to see us and we felt we were in very capable hands.
Ordered food and drink, on the menu there was information about where the produce came from which was all local. This is an exceptional touch as we ended up in the butchers the next day! We are big foodies and have eaten all over and the mussel dish is now above our local Rick Steins' dish. We are just gutted we do not live closer!
Fantastic food, fabulous service, & atmosphere.
Overnight Stay
This is the second time we have visited The Kilpeck Inn and we were not disappointed. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant, the staff were very attentive and gave very good service. We then stayed overnight. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast the next morning was super with quality fresh ingredients. Overall a very good night away and I would highly recommend staying here.
Be the first to ReplyBEWARE OF SERVICE CHARGE
After paying the bill I noticed there was a 10 per cent service charge. I was unaware of this as it is not stated on the menu also no mention on thier website. We had left a tip on the table for the staff as we were unaware of the service charge. The service was not that good, there were only two waiting staff who where also serving at the bar.
I do resent having to pay a service charge when I am not awre of it. I am not aware of any other pubs in the area charging a service charge.
Gorgeous food
Stunning Saturday lunch here in the restaurant. The bar looked to have a cosier atmosphere however sat in the main restaurant. Our waitress was so lovely she really couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be returning again.
Be the first to ReplyVery Poor experience
I’ve eaten at the Kilpeck twice before which was great.
I decided to take the family for my Birthday on Saturday.
The whole experience was very disappointing.
We waited 45 minutes for our first course,
The cheese soufflé was dry with no sauce, the Lamb shanks were cooked days before and not fresh with the taste of reheated lamb. New potatoes tasted days old, My wife’s steak was cold.
2 hours for 2 courses is not good enough! The staff were over run as the place was full and the kitchen couldn’t cope.
The young lady I spoke to was very apologetic and I appreciate staff off with covid is a problem but this place isn’t cheap so regardless of covid, either reduce the numbers of bookings or stagger the tables to ensure the customer journey is what they expect instead of being disappointed and feeling ripped off.
